Barrett-Jackson crazy money. Lots of new wealth was created by internet entrepreneurs in recent history. But that hasn't changed the supply/demand situation for Japanese cars built during the last 40 years. If nobody has bid up the best 240Z for crazy money by now, it probably isn't going to happen. A few examples from 70s/80s Detroit can draw strong bids (GNX or 455 SD Trans Am). The late 60s Toyota 2000 GT gets crazy money but after that? I always liked the NSX but the market seems to treat it like a very nice used car if it's well kept with low miles.

Re: Corvette...a value IMHO [uplanderguy] by kernick on Fri Jan 27 08:55:17 PST 2012

If you wait a few months you will be able to buy (well you'll probably have to wait a few more months for the dealer markups to fade away); - but you'll be able to buy a stock 650 hp Ford Shelby Mustang GT500. I don't know the pricing but given the current pricing and a slight bump, the Shelby will be priced right there with those Corvettes. And in a straight-line comparision, it'll be no contest. If you ever watch Barrett-Jackson or Mecum, you'll also see that Shelbys can hold their value really well. But if you really like the Corvette, you should be able to get some good deals, as the model has been around for some years, and its due for a redesign. I've checked some on-line dealers and the discounts and rebates are usually $9K+ depending on model.

'57 Golden Hawk brings $135K before fees at Barrett-Jackson by uplanderguy on Sun Jan 22 05:22:04 PST 2012

The '58 Corvette before it brought $80K. I know people who buy at BJ are not 'regular' old car buyers, but so much for Stude high prices being an anomaly. Last year a Golden Hawk was bid to $80K I believe it was, but was turned down by the seller! It is true that certain Studes are bringing more than long-thought-higher Big 3 cars of the same era.

2WD EX by smc5784 on Fri Jan 20 12:47:28 PST 2012

Just purchased a 2012 2WD EX (Urban Titanium) in Jackson, Mississippi. Here is the deal: Price (including dest. fee): $23,900 Tax: $1,089 Fees: $200 OTD: $25,189 Also got a decent deal on my trade-in. Pretty satisfied with this deal, especially considering Urban Titanium was my top color choice.
