Who wants to bet this union dies. I do not know when but the new automotive entity that has any future in the US must remove the weight of this anchor around the neck of this industry. A wolf in sheep's clothing or a cancer. Slowly deceiving it's members right in front of their eyes and causing the very outcome they were born to prevent. Regards, OW

Dodd: Dems Can't Pass Auto Bailout This Year ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf Reports from Capitol Hill: An architect of the original bailout bill said Thursday Democrats lack the votes to pass bill giving auto companies a piece of the $700 billion bailout pie next week. "I want to help them if we can, but I'm not going to give anyone a blank check, so we're going to try and do something if we can next week. I don't think the votes are there. Candidly, I don't think we have the votes to get that done. With no big change between now and next Wednesday, I'm skeptical," said Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., who chairs the Senate Banking Committee. Even after January, Democrats will have to gain some Republican support in the Senate to pass a new rescue package for the automakers -- and that is looking less likely. Republicans worry that every time Congress passes a rescue package for a new industry, others will line up to create a bailout soup kitchen line. I wonder if I can get a Corvette at 35% off around January. I would think banks will be reluctant to finance anyone with less than 30% down. They don't want a bunch of repo cars to go with their foreclosed homes.

You're welcome, cascadejim. Offering dealer invoice is a very good idea. Don't forget to stop back and let us know how everything turns out. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum

No problem, rhett78. Other Jetta-sized Sedans that have better lease programs include the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Mazda6, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Corolla. All of these cars have better money factors than the 20009 Jetta, but some of their residual values aren't quite as good. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum

Thanks Car Man, I think I will offer flat invoice as final cost out the door excluding TTL. There are a few other dealers in the area with them in stock that I could begin negotiating with and i'm not in a major rush.

I think everyone who cruises the leasing forums would find it useful for the moderators to come up with an opinion scale on lease values. Since there are several of you hosts that prowl these messages, you could even post best and worst deals. They seem to change as manufacturers vary the rebates- terms- etc. so a 9 this week might be a 5 next week. I think it would simplify a complicated issue and stimulate interest and discussion. So in that light ,what appears to be C-Man's best current lease deal foreign or domestic?
