2008 Frontier 6 speed transmission hard to shift
by najawa on Mon Nov 17 17:02:33 PST 2008
I had trouble with the transmission making a crunching sound when I shift. After 4 trips to the Nissan dealer, they put in a new transmission. It still makes a noise and doesn't shift easy. Anyone else have this problem or any problem with their Frontier? Thanks,

Actually, steering without power assist isn't much of a problem except when operating the vehicle at very low speeds. My granddad preferred the non-power steering of his old Honda to the power-assisted steering on his Frontier. Said it was much easier to keep straight on the highway.
Re: 07 Camry CE cold engine actuator noise [vizyo]
by 210delray on Sat Nov 01 18:30:16 PDT 2008
The ABS actuator makes a noise during its self-test once the car gets up to about 3 mph or so after first being started. This is mentioned in the owner's manual and is common to most cars with ABS. (My 1990 Mercury Sable, one of the earlier cars with optional ABS, made this noise.) Regarding oil "burning," how much are you losing? Most cars use a little oil in my 30+ years of experience owning cars. Only my most recent cars (3 Camrys and a Nissan Frontier) don't seem to use any. You don't need any oil additives -- those are dealer moneymakers and are not recommended by Toyota itself. Again, check your owner's manual.
