Haha, that it is! Part of the problem you are describing (instrument panel going out) sounds like it is the broken solder issue. But, I am not sure that the solder problem causes no-start situations or other electrical oddities, like the blinker and door locks. At least, no such problems with my van, which clearly does have a solder issue. I think it may be a combination of the solder problem and a problem with the Body Control Module (BCM). Neither of those things should wreak havoc on your transmission's ability to shift....

2009 SEL

I bought an 09 SEL in August, it's an ice blue 4dr, w/black leather (seats come heated in 09) the only options I ordered were an auto-trans and anti-lock brks. (comes w/ESC for 09) the only 2 options available I did not order was a moon-roof and a remote start. The car came w/205/50R16 Perellis ( it took me 3 times back to dealer to get the thump and vibration out of it. They had to replace 3 of the 4. I now have only 1 original tire but it rides great now. Now the good news, we took it on vacation the last 2 weeks of Sept. from Indianapolis In to El Paso,Tx. The car is rated 33mpg hwy. It gets 29 in the city /hwy combined and on the trip 1 tank full I got in Alamagorda,NM. to Okla,city it got 42.7 and then dropped down to 37.5 for the rest of the trip. Total mileage`for trip was 3,485 and total gas used was 90.1 gal. works out to 38.6 mpg and that was at 70 mph and a/c on most of the time. some 80 mph in Tx. Not Bad. I love this car ! (The seats are great,1 14hr day of driving proved that. and I'm 6'3 and 235 lbs.) any questions, fire them my way.

I am looking at the following Corolla and received a quote from a local dealer. This is just for the vehicle, options and destination. For starters their "invoice price" ($16,833) is $358.00 over the Edmunds listed invoice price ($16,525). I've been trying to sort through the various posts to reach a good starting point. Nice combination of troubles you have, all of which could be BCM related (though it may not be BCM itself. As jpm suggested it may be battery if its still the original (electronics can be very sensitive to flucuations in voltage). The only times I've had the key get locked were do to bad cable connection to battery (would try to start it, hear a click then key would lock). The cable connection to underhood fuse box could be suspect also. It appears you saw my post with the leaky sunroof and how I fixed it by running heater on high (directing to floor) with the 2 covers on either side of console removed (Problem has yet to return)

Silverado Real World Mileage

I have an '07 Silverado 4X4 Z71 with the 6.0L engine, 3.73 locking diff and live in Colorado. I am able to consistently get between 18 and 21 mpg with a combination of hilly and mountainous driving. I couldn't be more happy with it. As for the AFM, I can't tell when the truck is running in V4 or V8 mode except to look at the readout on the dashboard. Driving across Nebraska I consistently average 20 mpg in the flat country. In the hilly midwest near the Great Lakes, I'm lucky to get 17 or 18 mpg. In all cases, I drive between 65 and 70 as the law allows. As for trailering ... get the 4:10 axle. I didn't and I'm very disappointed in both performance and mpg ... usually between 8 and 10 mpg.
