Re: Sedona.. [toomanyfumes]

Sedona was very nice... Slide Rock State Park is very scenic. Wear your swimsuit. It is imperative that you get out of the town and into the red rock area. We took a guided Jeep tour, which was pretty cool, but pricy. The Uptown area of Sedona will remind you a little of Gatlinburg, though slightly less tacky. A good Mexican restaurant in Tlaquepaque (sp?) shopping center, just south of Uptown.. was a good place for dinner. If you come in from the south, be sure to drive north of town, towards Flagstaff for 10-15 miles, then turn back and come into town from the north. The scenery on that drive is fantastic, driving down into the Oak Creek Canyon. Good luck! kyfdx

Just up the creek from Sedona is a very nice (and popluar)spot called Slide Rock. It is a nice spot to picnic or wade in the water. (Rare for AZ). The water may be very cold this time of year, but it is pretty to walk around and hike if you are into that kinda thing. It is located in a very pretty canyon, called Oak Creek Canyon. The drive N from Sedona thru this canyon is very beautiful. The canyon gets narrower and narrower as it goes north, with the road at the bottom, next to the creek. Enjoy! Jeff
UAW and Delphi to meet on bailout
by rockylee on Thu Mar 09 02:57:14 PST 2006
Pending deal includes buyouts, payments to employees whose wages, benefits would be cut. Detroit News staff reports UAW leaders at Delphi Corp. plants have been summoned to a meeting in Detroit on Wednesday for an update on bailout talks between the company, union and General Motors Corp., signaling the three sides may be nearing an agreement after months of negotiations. GM and Delphi are closing in on the outline of a pact with senior United Auto Workers leaders to entice thousands of GM and Delphi workers to retire early, and allow Delphi to dramatically downsize its hourly workforce. While several key details are yet to be completed, the agreement would include buyouts to encourage older workers to retire from GM or Delphi, and payments to Delphi workers whose wages and benefits will be cut. GM is expected to finance nearly the entire price tag of the bailout. As part of its own downsizing, GM is eager to offer buyouts to entice up to about 20,000 factory workers to retire, creating openings for Delphi workers who have recall rights at the automaker under the auto parts maker's 1999 separation agreement, according to people familiar with the negotiations Under another option, remaining Delphi workers would receive lower wages and reduced benefits in exchange for a one-time "buydown" payment, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. "We are going to get the full puzzle next week," said Skip Dziedzic, president of UAW Local 1866, which represents workers at a Delphi electronics plant in Oak Creek, Wis. "Either we are close or we are going to have to go back to our membership and tell them to prepare for a strike." A final agreement is not pending. Under one option, Delphi workers could be given one-time payments, from $25,000 to $50,000 per person, if they accept lower pay and reduced benefits, the Journal reported. A similar deal was used when DaimlerChrysler AG sold an Indiana plant to Metaldyne Corp. in 2004. Delphi has 24,000 UAW workers but is proposing drastic cuts in factory wages and benefits as part of its bankruptcy reorganization. Without an agreement, it has threatened to seek court protection to void all labor contracts, setting the stage for a possible strike by the UAW. A strike at Delphi almost certainly would cripple GM's North American operations. Under an existing agreement between Delphi and the UAW, new Delphi hires are paid permanently lower wages that mirror prevailing compensation. However, the company has been unable to hire a sufficient number of workers at the lower pay scale to take full advantage of the deal. "They have been bringing the local presidents periodically for updates," said Art Reyes, vice president of UAW Local 651 in Flint, where Delphi assembles electronics parts. "The expectation is that they will provide an update and hopefully tell us something about the situation."
Re: Weather in Arizona (just-for-fun facts)
by kmartin on Sun Dec 11 09:32:01 PST 2005
Wickenburg gets about the same weather as Phoenix, but a few degrees cooler...great Dude Ranch country, and quite peaceful there. Slide Rock is up between Sedona and Flagstaff...gorgeous country, but it gets purdy daggone cold up there! You wouldn't want to be sliding down Oak Creek Canyon right now, as it probably is icy cold, if not iced over :-) Arizona has just about any climate you could possibly think of, from low (lush at times) deserts to 12,000-plus-feet-high pine-covered mountains. Sometimes it even rains and snows out here, believe it or not :-) Phoenix will be around 70 today and 40 tonight; Flagstaff is 120 miles to the north, and will have a high of 50 and low of around 18. That's about normal...except this should be our wettest month, and we've had nothing so far... About 5 years ago, as my mom and I were driving in suburban Phoenix (Glendale) on my way to do some Christmas shopping the first weekend in December, we actually drove through snow! (It wasn't sticking, but it was pretty cool). When we got to the mall, we spotted Santa Claus backing out of the parking lot driving a Ford Taurus, and we took his parking spot! A day to remember... We see a lot of Subarus especially in the winter (mostly retired snowbirds from the northwest and midwest), but you'll see lots of 'em around Flagstaff and Prescott all year long. You can sure have some fun out here on the desert and mountain roads with AWD! -Karen in AZ-
Re: 2000 dodge carvan check engine light on but no code [gdien]
by tommyray71 on Sat Jul 09 12:53:52 PDT 2005
I would take it back in to the dealer or find some one to (Autozone maybe) to scan the computer when the code is there- You could throw a 1000$ worth of parts into it and never fix it- LOTS of thing will cause idle to be rough- Bad wires or plugs,Fuel injectors, Idle Air controll motor.. .
93 Suzuki Engine Light won't flash or shut off !!
by tommyray71 on Sat Jul 09 12:43:21 PDT 2005
Hi, I did a little research but I am not to familiar with Suzuki-93 Suzuki Sidekick 1.6 2 Door AT. The car does start and run although poorly. My check engine light is "always" on even after I disconnect the battery- I can't get it to flash any codes when I short out the test terminal. (Its a non fedral car so no reset switch for millage,,,,) The light is on even with the green plug off of the computer. The manuals I've got say its a short in the B13 Violet and Yellow Wire that goes to the 'check engine light' and ground . Any ideas any or help would be greatly apperciated- I don't know what to do next but I'm open to ANY help because the trip to the dealer costs more than the car is worth... Thanks, Tom
