Re: that Mark V... [Mr_Shiftright]

I remember hearing of a Willamsburg Edition, but had to look it up. I found this quote..."Some believed the Town editions had become too gaudy, so the Williamsburg editions were created. These were 4-door models that came in either gray or burgundy and deleted the opera window, the coach lamps, and the wide body side moldings. " However, the pics I've seen of Williamsburg Editions online all have opera windows, so maybe at some point they stopped deleting them? Lincoln seemed to have pretty good success in the 1970's with those designer editions. I really don't remember Cadillac doing anything other than the Eldorado Biarritz, and the Fleetwood Talisman. And the only attempt at a designer edition that Chrysler did, that I can think of, was the 5th Avenue Edition of the 1979-81 New Yorker. I think there was also a 1980-81 LeBaron 5th Ave.

What do you do, drive 50 miles per month? Go back and recheck your numbers. you are shooting your own credibility to zero with such nonsense. With that logic i could say my wife's CTS costs $15/ month in running costs, and my Eldorado is costing under $10, but it cos't more than that for her to pick up her niece and nephew for an afternoon.

What are you smoking?? We have nearly 100,000 miles on my Wife's CTS with Every available option (read this as being that many more things to break) and no major problems to date! I'm right now trying to think of any minor problems other than an onstar microphone issue 4 years ago... Nope can't think of any. My Eldorado had been largely trouble free for 120,000 miles. My Fleetwood went 195,000 miles with nothing worse than a burned out compressor, alternator and water pump over the years, none of which rendered it dead on the side of the road. It would still be running it it wasn't crashed in an accident. No i think you are in error with that statement.

I think I paid $30.00 the day I drove off with my ElDorado convertible. Credit card payment. Of course I had a trade, and it was my 2nd car from that dealer. 5 months later was a different story, i had to pay $2,000.00 down, but that was also a credit card payment and i was able to bet $$$ back from citibank on the purchase. I haven't paid any real initial money out of pocket on delivery since the early nineties.
Re: Small Show... [andre1969]

It was a small show, especially compared to Macungie or Carlisle, but it went well. The weather was excellent, but it could've been about 5 degrees cooler. There were a lot of interesting cars there including a V-12 roadster and a couple of V-16s. One surprisingly rare car was a 1937 LaSalle two-door sedan. Only 711 were made. The four-door sedans and business coupes were more popular. Of course there were plenty of '59s. Seems like every one of them survived as did every 1965 Mustang and 1957 Chevrolet. There was a beautiful 1964 Eldorado convertible in this really nice shade of teal blue metallic. There also was a 1966 Series 75 limousine, a 1974 flower car, and a 1977 ambulance. Per judging, my Brougham is an Emeritus car which means it's received at least 5 first-place awards. In other for others to compete, my car is removed from judging to encourage newer members. In other words, if the same guys keep winning, others may lose interest. I do get a little plate to screw onto a plaque for participating. Hope to see you guys at Carlisle and Hershey!

NorthStars are DESIGNED to use oil to keep the rings from wearing out. The cross hatching on the cylinder walls is very agressive to hold oil. This causes consumption bue does not result in a blue cloud following one's car. I have nearly 120,000 miles on my 2000 ElDorado, and it's consumption is only about 1 qt between changes. I wonder why Northstars do that when there are countless engines out there that don't wear rings and also don't need to burn a lot of oil? (Legitimate curiosity). Example - our Nissan engine in a Mercury Villager went 240K miles and still didn't burn any oil.
