Re: Drifting to the right [ahightower]

Hmmm....I just recently threw out all the old receipts since I no longer have that vehicle, so I don't know the costs. "IF" the ball joint is your problem.....Just purely guessing, I would think a ball joint is around 30-40 bucks a piece, and at least an hour of labor a piece. They put on spring compressors, and un bolt and disconnect the hub from the ball joint. Then use a ball joint tool which presses the old ball joint from the lower A frame. They then press in the new ball joint, and reassemble the hub. Take off the spring compressors, put the wheels back on, and then have to re-align the vehicle again. Sometimes a ball joint will squeak when it is worn.

News story: Drop almost over? Pump prices should hover in the $2 range for several months, falling as low as $1.75 in some markets, says Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for OPIS. But don't expect a sustained period of low prices reminiscent of the 1990s, he says. Although demand is weak, it's expected to pick up during next summer's driving season, and oil supplies are likely to remain tight for years. Kloza expects gas prices to jump about 75 cents in spring 2009, though he's not predicting a return of $4 gasoline soon. "I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of prices north of $3" in six months, he says. Don't trade that Sentra in for a Murano just yet................:)
Re: 2003 Tahoe Headlights [not2l84u2]

Well the switch is supposed to spring back to auto position, but it should have turned the headlights off. I'd have to get the schematics out to see what all else might be in the circuit in addition to the BCM (Body Control Module) and relays, but at this point I'd be focusing on checking out the headlight relays...and hoping that they are the problem. Do you have an electrical digitial volt/ohm meter, and do you know how to check whether a relay is good or not? Is this wiring all OEM, or has anybody messed with it putting on alarm system or anything else to the wiring?
Re: One of the problems with the Genesis [captain2]

It's not a maybe but a fact. Hyundai has already expressed a separate marque for North America is out of question for the near future. This (under the Hyundai umbrella) is the way. Actually, I see a lot of good things spring from the Genesis line (sedan and coupe) under Hyundai, aside from the competitive products themselves. Consider the intangible benefits that would transfer to other fleet within the company; consider the elevation of the overall image and consumer perception; consider... It is probably too soon to grade the Genesis sedan, but the early verdict has been good, despite the status of the economy. Consumers have been purchasing $30K+ Hyundais, something unheard-of just a few short years ago. During last month in the US, the Genesis fared pretty well vs. the Japanese luxury competitors: Infinit M - 1,077 units sold Hyundai Genesis - 1,029 units sold Lexus GS (inc. hybrid model) - 977 units sold Acrua RL - 259 units sold And, last but certainly not least, with regards to the Genesis being a luxury car - simply put, it is a luxury car - easiest decision I had to make today. The industry professionals thought the same thing so if anyone doesn't perceive the Genesis being as such, then you owe it to yourself to at least find out more information about the car, a test drive would be recommended :)
Sad News

After a long time in the nursing home in NJ and being on hospice care the last 2 weeks, my mom passed away at 4AM this morning. She was a holocaust survivor, having spent almost 4 years in Lodz Ghetto, then sent to Stutthof concentration camp. Her and my dad met at a DP camp and married shortly thereafter. Her stories are typical of many survivors, and she made the best of her life with my dad in NY then Florida. She went back up north a few years ago, but was not happy. Last year, she had to be moved due to a fractured pelvis, which she broke again 2 months ago. I believe that it was at that time she basically gave up. Everytime I came up for a visit, she looked worse, and her dementia was at a point where she did not remember our visits. At least we had a chance to see her when we brought Michael up to school. She was an incredible cook, and I will miss her chicken soup, her stuffed cabbage, her kugel (noodle pudding), and especially her apple cake.
Comparing USA-made and Japanese-made 2009 Camrys...
by waltchan on Wed Oct 22 00:36:30 PDT 2008
If you live in the southwest area of the United States, you should test-drive both the USA-made Camry and Japanese-made Camry at the same time to compare fit-and-finish qualities. Both the salesman and I were surprised to see that the seats in the Japanese-made Camry felt more stiffer and supportive, wind noise is less, doors closing are quieter, fewer plastic creak interior noise, and smoother running engine that gives 1% better acceleration time. Although an average person will not notice any difference at all, a picky person can tell the difference very easily. We are both picky and eye-alert. I drove home tonight with an extremely-rare Japanese-made 2009 Camry LE I4 auto. Everything was put together well. While most of the Japanese-made Camrys are found in higher trim-levels, having a Japanese-made basic Camry LE I4 auto with no option is something that is really impossible to get. The dealer I bought from charged me $1,000 more from the USA-made one due to its rarity, and they only get one in shipment every month. :surprise: According to the Toyota dealer I spoke with, only 1% of 2009 Camry productions (excluding hybrids) are Made in Japan, and are strictly sold only in California, Arizona, and Nevada. Because of its low production number, they tend to be build more slowly and carefully. The ones build from Japan come with Michelin tires as standard instead of Bridgestone. 2009 could mark as the final-year for Japanese-made Camry for the North American market as the 2.4L AZ engine will be replaced with a totally-new 2.5L AR engine next year in spring 2009 for 2010 model. The AZ engine was designed in Japan, but the new AR engine was designed in USA.
