Sounds delicious [wheelman]
by gagrice on Fri Nov 14 16:04:13 PST 2008
I understand the batteries will be about 1/3rd of the cost of the VOLT. I am sure the electric drive motor will come from China. Does not leave many crumbs for the UAW to munch on. Or as this article along side yours Says: Let the people eat cake WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The most powerful people in the world will dine on roasted rack of lamb, fruitwood-smoked quail and a chanterelle-jussed tomato, fennel and eggplant fondue, while millions of people around the world lose their jobs, their homes and their hopes. President George W. Bush will host 97 other delegates from the Group of 20 nations at a working dinner Friday at the White House. They'll discuss how to coordinate the emergency actions needed to prevent a severe global depression while they sip on three different wines, including a delightful Shafer Cabernet "Hillside Select" 2003. Bush has put himself into a tricky spot with this dinner. On the one hand, you can't invite people over and not feed them. On the other hand, the gourmet dinner being offered to the leaders may not send exactly the right signal to more than 100 million people who've been pushed back into poverty in the past year . Just last week, Bob Zoellick, head of the World Bank, concluded that "as always, it is the poorest and most vulnerable who are the hardest hit." Tonight at the White House, he'll be thinking of those words as he bites into a heavenly pear torte with huckleberry sauce. Here's the menu for Friday's dinner, as released by the White House: * Fruitwood-smoked quail with quince gastrique and quinoa risotto * Landmark Chardonnay "Damaris Reserve" 2006 * Thyme-roasted rack of lamb and a tomato, fennel and eggplant fondue with chanterelle jus * Shafer Cabernet "Hillside Select" 2003 * Lolla rosa, red oak and endive with cider vinaigrette * Baked Vermont brie with walnut crostini * Pear torte with huckleberry sauce * Chandon Étoile Rosé. Bon appetit! -- Rex Nutting, Washington bureau chief End of Story
Re: Legacy Leases [tjones39]

Okay I just Leased a new 2008 Legacy special edition that has the sunroof and automattic transmission. A beautiful Pearl White color with tan interior, this car is way nicer and drives better than the oh so boring Toyota Camry. Still nicer than the Altima, Mazda 6 and Malibu also. Here is the smokin lease deal my wife and I received. First the Advertised price was $159 month $999 out of pocket total, 10k miles for 24 months. However with the miles we drive and at .15c per mile over I asked for 12k and 15k mile. The 12k was $168.78 and 15k miles was $178.72 all this with $999 total money our of pocket. Subaru must be subsidizing these well right now for the total msrp and what the other competitors are currently leasing for my guess is this car is about $75+ under per month right now. We bought in Los Angeles Sherman Oaks Subaru but they matched the Puente Hills Subaru special lease on this for me since they had the only pearl white car in all of So. Cal right now.

Tell me, do you have shag carpeting at home? Hardwood floors... 1929 white oak longboards. Please. The van, however, is VERY shagalicious: http://www.msu.edu/~steine13/conv.html I think I've posted that link before.. It's not like I got any money in it, plus it was fun for a year. Anywhere between $999 and $2000 is the money on this one. It is a real survivor, but then it'll be hard to find someone who cares. -Mathias
Re: Transport... [healthnut]

Healthnut, what state will you be registering the vehicle in? I can't believe they don't assess sales tax upon registration of the vehicle. As far as auto transporters, I would be nervous if I were you. I would recommend paying extra for an enclosed trailer. I would also request that the dealer leave annd of the plastic film, etc. on the vehicle for the transport. Good luck. My dealer got in 2 Platinums today - both in the pearl white color with Oak interior. I am going to wait until the frenzy dies down a little and get the exact colors and options that I want.
Re: buying a MINI- which options are best? [bijoubaby05]
by tiff_c on Tue Nov 20 08:47:45 PST 2007
I have optioned out a Mini using Edmunds based on a 2007 model and of course performance matters to me. So this is how I optioned it out, based on my needs. 2007 MINI Cooper S (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 6M) ZSP Sport Package (w/White Web-Spoke Wheels) 226 Sport Suspension 322 Comfort Access 2TA Limited Slip Differential 4BE English Oak Interior Trim 473 Center Arm Rest 384 White Alloy Wheels 327 Bonnet Stripes White 382 Roof/Mirror Caps in White Total with Options $25,659 Color: Chili Red I might rethink the arm rest and the oak interior I'd have to see those in person first. The dealer is just so far away. Sunroofs can be a problem for all the reasons mentioned. Premium Pkg is ok if you want that. Leatherette is a personal choice but you will cough up a lot for leather which must be maintained with cleaners. For me Leatherette which is vinyl, really wears a lot better IMO. As far as performance enhancing things why buy a Mini if you don't get them? Fuel economy has me looking at the Mini as it also offers good performance. Might have to buy a Prius if gas keeps going up.
Re: Los Angeles area prices [1lpn]

I picked up a White/Ivory I4 SE for 18,400 (including dest.) from Miller Honda in Van Nuys, CA. It was 20,1xx OTD with the $55 doc fee. He had 2 more of the I4 SE's on the lot: one was Silver/Black, and the other Black/Ivory. Contact Bruce Abernathy. He was also letting the V6 SE's go for 19,900. Next door at Robertson Honda of North Hollywood I managed to get 18,500 and 20,000 respectively. ($100 more for either) They only had one V6 and quite a few I4's. Robertson should be able to match the Miller prices, but Bruce at Miller gave me no problems. The contact at Robertson is Dexter. I also went to Kolbe in Reseda, Keyes in Woodland Hills, and Honda of Thousand Oaks. They all showed me the door when I showed them the Miller prices. Good luck to you all.
