Don't know if anyone is shopping for a silver one...
by lhess on Wed Oct 04 07:44:59 PDT 2006
but the dealership in my town has a silver with black top, must be an 07 cause it's automatic, stickers somewhere around $26K and they've always sold theirs for msrp, no bumps. I'll post more info or go take a better look if anyone is interested. I'm in summersville, WV!!
It's not just the eclipse....Ramey "adjusts"

the price on all their vehicles. They had a few 2005 eclipses left on the lot too and even though I didn't look at them, I can guarantee they have a bump sticker on them too. As I said, I'll never buy from Ramey...was just in the area and wanted to see if they had one. This particular dealer did have some dealerships here in Summersville but sold part and moved the others out because they couldn't sell anything. The sales people tell you just to "ignore that sticker, we knock that off the car first thing." I laughed in their face and left as obviously most other people did as well. The dealer I will eventually get an eclipse from has promised me that there will be no mark-ups from day one sales.
Summersville?

Yeesh! That brings back a few memories. Back when I lived in New Jersey, my wife and I used to make an annual pilgrimage to your area during Gauley season. On our last trip I managed to get my right hand tagged by a copperhead snake in the area of Sweet's Falls. Succumbing to the pressures of the tour guide, I had to take a trip to the Summersville Hospital only to be told, "You're young enough and healthy enough. Take two aspirin and call us if you get worse." The next day I had to combine forces with my wife, who managed to bruise a few ribs near Pillow Rock, to be able to start our drive home. I got the steering wheel and the gas, brake and clutch pedals, she got the stick shift, the climate controls and the audio system. That kind of felt like "Bait & Switch", you know, "Go to the hospital and get some anti-venom", followed by, "Nope, go back to your camp site and take some aspirin." In any event, I still like Summersville. ;-) Best Regards, Shipo
Some of you need to realize...

we don't all live in a huge metropolis where there are literally dozens of dealers to pick from. I live in WV and there is a grand total of 4 FOUR Mitsubishi dealers in the state of WV. I went to SC to buy my eclipse used - I found 2 used in the entire state (I'm sure there were others, but I'm talking ones that could be found on internet searches....). The only one that interested me had 9K miles and was priced at $26K. If I could have afforded that amount at that time, I would have bit the bullet and bought a brand new one for $30K. Same with the current Mazda. I'm not sure of the exact number of dealerships in the state, but I can guarantee there are no more than 4 or 5. The only dealerships we have locally (right here in Summersville) are GM, Pontiac, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep - all owned by the same guy. Nearest Ford, nissan, subaru, hyundai, cadillac is an hour away. Nearest honda, vw, mazda, is 2 hours.............. In some cases, what does it matter if you make a one-time trip out of town to buy the car you want at the price you can pay? Rural areas are a different ball game and we all know what competition does for pricing!!
Speaking of service....

prior to my last 2 cars, I had always bought gm, mostly pontiacs (I call those the "Dark Years"). Anyway, there's a GM dealer right here in Summersville, know all the sales people, know the owner, know the manager, know the service people (small town dynamics).... You'd think you could really get a good deal and good service. WRONG. I ended up paying way too much for the last car i bought there, a 2001 grand am. Honestly, I started trying to trade that rattling piece of junk 3 months in and it took me another 18 months to get rightside up on it - I HATED IT!! Consistently, bad deals and bad service there. I think all the techs are trained to put customers off until their warranties expire (and how long does that take since GM has the shortest warranty on the market right now?). I really like some of those folks, but it'll be a cold day before I buy there again. I'm hoping I remember the "dark years" when this new solstice tempts me beyond reasonable thinking!! They're "abusing" my boyfriend (what is the proper term for old people who date or shack up? When I say significant other everyone assumes you're gay?) who has a duramax from there. They can't ever get parts (excuse of the day, Mr. Goodwrench, NATIONAL BACKORDER) and they can't ever duplicate the problem. He got his oil changed yesterday and had them look at a leak - "could not duplicate the problem" right on the receipt. For a leak? He took the service guy out in the parking lot and showed him the leak, so they ordered a part. We'll hear about a national backorder today no doubt!!
not there yet...

we have bulldog cops here in summersville, wv (look at speedtrap.com - i'm really not kidding) so i have not reached anywhere near that MPH. i've been up to 80, but had to choke it back (too many mountains and curves in wv, too) so i have not lost any parts as yet. that sounds entirely strange and I bet it was a little heart-stopping. back to the dealer with it yet? what do they say? also, on the oil thing, the foamy stuff seems to be fairly common from reading here. I have not checked mine yet (only had it a week), but I hope I don't have to see that!! let us know what the new dealer says!!
