New 2009 Sonata Limited without Nav "Price Paid"
by bob241 on Mon Nov 17 09:10:56 PST 2008
I hope this helps you, just bought new 09 above, Window sticker was 25,340. I paid 18,700, 598 dealer fees, plus Tax and Tag. Total came to 20,200 OTD. You have to pay tax on the rebates. I went to Coconut Creek Hyundai in Broward Florida. I first went to Rick Case in Davie FL. They wanted $21,500 plus Tax tax and title and were not moving on the price. My price included a $2500 Hyundai rebate, and 2500 dollars dealer rebate at Coconut Creek Hyundai. They were all very nice. I negoiated the price over email with the internet sales dept. Do not pay more than 19,300 with dealer FEES anywhere. I love the car. Fun to drive. Nothing fancy but great transportation. the Infinity Stero is kind of weak but OK. I did not take the zero percent financing. They have new car financing for 4.74 percent. Not to bad. To bad they put the cheap chinese tires on the new limited sonatas. Good Luck!!!!!!

I had a lovely 1995 SE which I totalled on Hwy 49 near Downieville in Calif. It was not my fault entirely the curve just before Downieville was badly sign posted. Anyway, I crashed into the solid mountain, out popped both air bags, and the windshield crumpled but I walked away without a scratch. The insurance co. was nice about it and paid me $9000. Which was enough for me to buy a 1999 10th Anniversary which I love and now drive with great care. One Sat. early morning I was driving rather spiritedly on the road from Davis to Winters when I got a speeding ticket. The first time in my life. Why they do not let a man and his car enjoy themselves I will never know?! What a damper in these cash strapped days! The wife hit the roof and I will have to spend an equal amount of the ticket on on her before she quiets down. I have abandoned all thoughts about moving up to a Ferrari or a Porsche Boxster. It will only end up in more tickets.

Mileage update
by byron2 on Sun Nov 09 19:57:37 PST 2008
'09 Sport AT. Car now has 920 miles on it. Last tank was 29.3 mpg per the computer. Mostly driving on the hilly San Francisco Peninsula with one trip to UC Davis. Not bad, but what is a bit disappointing is that my '03 Accord EX 4-dr manual routinely gets 27 mpg driving in the same hilly area. I bought it new 5.5 years ago and the worse mileage I have ever experienced on a tank (I round to the nearest mpg) is 25 mpg. Since new I have had four tanks at 25 mpg and all others have been higher, with 27 the routine average. The highest has been 34 mpg driving back from Vegas last year. As far as power goes the Fit is ok but my Accord feels like a top fueler in comparison. I hope the Fit get more frugal as it breaks in. Byron
I'M S O R I G H T !!! I'M S O R I G H T !!! I'M S O R I G H T !!!

I was SO on the target with my "lower gas prices mean more people will start WASTING again" and here is the first proof. "Hey Joe, gas is cheap again !!! Let's go start WASTING IT AGAIN !!! WooHoo !!!" “Driving habits die hard, and they can reincarnate quickly,” said Christopher R. Knittel, an economist at the University of California, Davis, who studies gasoline demand. In the late 1980s, he added: “As soon as gas prices fell, there was no real incentive to drive less anymore. If oil prices continue to fall and the economy recovers, I would expect consumers to return to wanting larger and less fuel-efficient cars.” Sometimes being right is a mixed blessing. In this case, I would have much preferred to be SO SO WRONG but alas, America lives up to it's billing of having a sadly short memory.

Nothing concrete or factual here, just the frustrated ramblings of basically a Democrat who is just sick and tired of the lying, cronyism, Old Boys Network, same old same old. As the great philosoper once wrote, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss..." I understand how you feel, but I think the decision is rather an easy one this time. Do you want a "fundamental de-regulator" to work that "hands off" approach on everything the government does, since it worked so well with the banking industry? Do you want a President whose foreign policy will be influenced by registered foreign agents of countries like Georgia, whose economic policy will be influenced by the likes of Phil Gramm and Rick Davis, who wants to tax health benefits, privatize the VA, and stay in Iraq for the next hundred years? A President who has been utterly incoherent on the economic crisis, whose answer to every question is "eliminate pork barrel spending" ($18 billion of the $3 trillion budget) and who picked as his running mate the most inexperienced, unqualified person in modern American history? If so, vote McCain. If you've enjoyed eight years of Bush, vote McCain. If not, Obama is the best candidate the Democrats have offered in a very long time.
