Re: Paid MSRP, extended warranty info [tomlilly1]

I agree with jaxs1. I have a 2004. While there have been a slightly annoying number of recalls or TSB's, my local dealer, who I did NOT buy the Prius from, has been great. They take care of the issues and they lend me a rental or shuttle me where I want to go and usually upgrade the software at the same time. I change my own oil so the only money I've paid them is for oil filters, air filters and washer fluid. They are absolutely great. (Bighorn Motors in Glenwood Springs, CO)
Another new 2002 LX owner
by lwhitty on Wed Jul 31 23:22:39 PDT 2002
After lurking here on Edmunds for the past few weeks, and reading all the posts from the many satisfied and obviously intelligent MPV owners, my wife & I finally decided to pick up a 2002 LX for a great price yesterday. The MPV seems like a much better value than the other mini van on our list, the Odyssey. It's true what they say about being able to get a good deal the last day of the month. So far, we're thrilled with the vehicle. A previous post mentioned that the Duratec 3.0 engine has three of the plugs near the rear firewall. Is this true? I was told by the dealer that all six plugs were easily accessible from the front. I couldn't verify this because of the cover plate over the top of the engine. I was hoping to avoid the problem I had of replacing the rear plugs in my previous van, a Windstar, where you needed an extra joint in you arm between the wrist & elbow to get to them. But then again, since they don't have to be replaced for another 99,060 miles, I suppose I shouldn't worry about it.
2008 Scion XB MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEM
by dukedude on Fri Oct 19 08:48:41 PDT 2007
I bought a new 2008 XB from a dealer on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. Less than 2 months after I bought it the engine died and had to be replaced! I had complained about a noise in the engine but was told I was ok as long as the service engine light didn't come on. Supposedly the balance shaft broke sending metal pieces into the crankshaft preventing oil from getting to the engine. I demanded a new car but I was told the engine is a part and parts are covered by Toyota's warranty. Now I'm hearing the noise again. I thought this would be my best car ever but I am very unhappy and disappointed with Toyota. According to Consumer Reports, Toyota's quality this year has gone down. With what we pay for cars, I think after only two months I should have had the car replaced. If you're thinking of buying one, think long and hard about it. I would NOT do it over again.
2008 V50 Lease deal?
by ryanc111 on Tue Sep 18 14:45:10 PDT 2007
Ok, I hit an elk with my old car so am now in the need of a new car quickly. I live up in the mountains in Colorado and am looking at the 2008 V50 T5AWD. I have a quote from Roaring Fork Volvo in Glenwood Springs as follows: MSRP: 38,817 Cap cost: 33,444 Total out of pocket: 2,874 36 months - 15k/year 515/month Unfortunately I don't have any of the other details on the loan (residual, money value, details of out of pocket expenses) yet. I don't have a lot of time to do much research here - what's the consensus? Is this a fair deal?
Gas Mileage

06 V8 SE with large Thule roof top crap carrier, 2 adults and 3 kids and way too much camping gear: Denver to Glenwood Springs to Redstone to Glenwood, 190 miles over Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail Pass, 17.2 mpg using Shell regular. Glenwood to Redstone a couple times, then to Denver over Independence Pass, elev 12095, Fremont Pass, and return thru Eisenhower (Johnson) Tunnel, 19.0 mpg with some stop and go traffic on I-70 using Bradley Sinclair regular. Most of the trip used air conditioning, hit 100 degrees in Glenwood Sprigs, interior was comfortably cool. Estimated cargo load was 1200 lbs. Total miles 500. All the kids dirty scuff marks on the door panels just wiped right off.
Pricing Denver area

We nearly purchased a Subaru becasue of rebates & discounts offered in liew of the Civic, just could not get myself to pay MSRP or more for the Civic. Checked with MANY area dealers. Only two dealers willing to discount (slightly) were Fisher Honda in Boulder and Canyon Honda in Glenwood Spgs (Glenwood Automotive Group on internet). Had previously conversed with two metro area dealers & in the few weeks we waited their prices went up to at or above MSRP due to demand, cant blame them but wow! Wanted Atomic Blue or possibly the gray. Fishher & Canyon were great, Canyon wound up getting one in sooner, actually had two EX sedans on lot a gray, & a black, both super sharp. Purchased a Galaxy Gray EX 4 Dr Auto non navi, was a good experience, low key. They insisted on the $599 doc fee and $179 VTR?? fee, but even with those fees came in under MSRP & were great guys to deal with. Got what we wanted, a so happy with the Civic, the car is way better than our expectations. Drove up to Glenwood in my Mother's 05 Civic EX, what a difference in ride, power, room, everything on the 06 appears better. The 06 is WORTH the money, that is why they are BRINGING the money to the dealer!!! What a car.
