First all these things were said about Geraldine Ferraro as the first VP candidate. She may have gotten the job done if not for Mondale being such a millstone around her neck. Do you think Hillary has lost the drive to be President? If not what possible chance does she have if Obama gets elected President? PS Ferraro and other influential supporters of Hillary have not thrown in the towel as you seem to have. Quite frankly as much as I despise the Clinton's, I would rather have Hillary in the White House than Barack H. Obama. I had already resolved in my mind that she would be the next president until Obama got tossed into the arena.

she was born on third base, don't make it like she hit a triple She was given the golden opportunity and she made the best of it. She has doubled the business since her dad died and she took control. Plus she has raised a family while being involved in John's campaigns. I would say she is probably more of what I would want in a President than any of the current candidates her husband included. I consider Michelle Obama fair game as she has already indicated she will yield some control if her husband wins the Presidency. She has made it clear she does not want Hillary in the VP spot and with just cause I would say. Her early connections and writings trouble me. She has said in an interview that she was given preferential treatment being accepte to Princeton, via affirmative action, not on her own merit. Her derogatory remarks about the country that has given the opportunity to make $4 million a year, is troubling. I think she will be a millstone around Obama's neck during the campaign.

I appreciate the heritage and mystique of Jaguar and Land Rover as much as anyone. However, Ford in its hubris squandered billions of dollars on marques that, despite recent improvements and promise of future improvements, still aren't making them any or much money. Sell the Cat and Land Rover, and plow the money into restoring Lincoln's fortunes. Sure, Lincoln doesn't carry much cache now, but it once did, neither does Jaguar now. Freed of the millstone that is Jaguar, Lincoln can be reshaped into a significant marque once again.

Well, I am hardly a doom and gloom guy, but Ford has real problems. Some are product related, some are structural. Ford has almost no presence in the family sedan and entry sedan markets. The F150 is a fine truck, but given the price of fuel, it isn't for the casual user anymore. Ford has some very fine cars in Europe and elsewhere, but for some reason they refuse to bring them over here. The new Mondeo is a great looking car, the Ka would make a fine city car and the Euro Focus is a very good car. This brings me to the structural part. Fords management is bloated and clueless. Even dealing w/ Ford Motor Credit pisses me off on a regular basis. those clowns have screwed up Volvo Finance in every way possible. Ford, like GM is still structured like a car company with a much bigger market share than they really have. You have all this redundancy, people trying to justify their jobs, its sad. Lincoln and Mercury are pathetic shells of their former selves, with no direction and no product that excites anyone. Jaguar is a millstone around PAG's neck. Now, there are possibilities. Import the good Euro Fords, cut the excess white collar jobs, close the underused plants, play some hardball w/ the UAW, get rid of Jaguar and the company will be ok.

A Pontiac Vibe is a Toyota Matrix built in Fremont Ca. The GMC 1500 was built in Canada. Might still be. The Camry is built in America with more American parts than any other car according to a previous survey. The ole folks look at you real funny when you don't buy a Ford, Chevy, whatever. So what's a guy to do. I'm going to get ripped on this one but here goes. American Company cars are great if you are going to keep it for 10 years. To ask the trade in value can be a shocking experience. Trade in value as we know it is tied to how many of them are out there unsold when you are ready to do the same thing – sell one. And that number is related to 1. The actual or anticipated reliability of the vehicle at the time of sale. 2. Number sold to rental companies. Reasons: More problems means more people trying to get rid of them. Also: People sell vehicles anticipating problems before they happen. Also: Rental cars dumped on the market after the first year – Supply vs. Demand. Honda limits production and maximizes durability. I got a Honda civic a while back. They didn’t budge on the price. But when it came time to sell, the buyers were waiting in line and the sale price stayed high. Even the buyer’s bank didn’t seem to care the price was high. GM is planning to limit production now. But, can they get by dragging that big millstone they are stuck with called Legacy Overhead? It is not going away. I hope so but I don’t see how? The Impala was a super car but at 20,000 dollars (after 3000 in rebates, the trade-in value in two years was 10,500. And that was extra low miles in showroom condition. No thanks - Time to try something else.

Shop around for the best price. That's what I'd do. Either way you are going to have to pony up some of your own money to get this millstone(Canyon/Colorado) off of your neck. Make the outlay as painless as possible for yourself. Whether you buy a Rice Burner for 2k8 or another homegrown truck, it's going to be a costly learning experience for you. Do your research next time and look at what 'long term cost' will be for you. The homegrown trucks might be able to get you into a new truck cheaper but you need to look at resale values and how much you spend on Malox..... :)
