this is not a flame on Acura. I have an 07 MDX that I love. but let me say this, I recently bought a Porsche and have a whole new appreciation for driving. I would serioulsy suggest that ANY of you who are looking at a new TL go test drive a boxster, cayman, 911, or even a BMW go drive a 3 series. you could easily pick up a used 3 series for less than what you will pay ona new TL and the car will drive so much better. even as much as I love my MDX for the utility that it has - if I was in the market for a four door sedan - i'd buy soemthing more sporty like a 3 series. i just bough a boxster and it is the MOST FUN CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. if you have to have back seasts... great. but if you can spare the back setas -0 listen to me. go test drive one. even a certified used one. mine was not brand new, it was used. and it is so freakin amazing I can't believe it. this is not a flame on the TL. nice car, but if you haven't driven a sportier car than you are missing out. the car market is sucking big time and you can get into a car that you would have never thought you could have. screw buying a new TL. you coudl go buy a two year old 3 series, 5 seris, boxster, cayman - you name it. lowball the hell out of people and eventually someone will say yes and you will have a way nicer car. you can't go wrong with a Tl -it's a great car, but it wil NEVER NEVER NEVER had the feel/handling of a Porsche or BMW. sorry.. i own both - so I'm not bashing, just giving you all a real honest opinion. i love both cars for diferent reasons. if you want to DRIVE and have FUN - it's not even close.

Honda engines have always been high revving/low torque engines - just their engine theory coming from having been primarily a motorcycle manufacturer. They have never had low end grunt. If you do not care for that, I suggest you look elsewhere for a car - that is simply their corporate culture, and none of us is ever going to change it.. My 2004 S2000 ran 4000 RPM at 76 MPH. Annoying as hell and I got rid of it in part for that reason - ridiculous. You could not listen to the radio or carry ona conversation with someone less than a foot away in the passenger cabin. Wanted it for weekend trips but any time on the interstate was unbearable.

Problem with Forester Solenoid?
by jssh1 on Sat Apr 05 08:55:45 PDT 2008
I have a 1998 Forester - automatic transmission with almost 165K miles. While driving ona road trip this weekend while going up a mountain in Central PA, the CEL came on and the care starting jerking. I took it to a mechanic a few miles down the street and they checked the fluids and added oil and transmission fluid and said I needed to change the transmission filter which is causing the jerking when the car shift gears. I called a couple of dealers and they say Foresters do not have transmission filters and it's probably the solenoid that needs replacing (over $400). Is it worth it to spend the money? My husband wants to trade the car in and get a new car since we keep replacing things (CV boots, O2 sensor, etc). Thanks very much for any help.

i'm not sure how many of you are considering a 335 BMW while shoppiong for the TL-S. the 335 will cost more for a less equpped car, but if you care about speed/power/handling,t he 335 is the better car. but the TL-S is a way better bang for the buck. hands down. one factor i'm taking into account is maintenance. if you lease for 3 years, a BMW will have 0 maintenance costs. tires would be all you'd pay for. I have a 2007 MDX and it's been in for it's routine services, and despite only having 10k on the car, it's already cost us a few hundred in basic services....i can imagine over the life of the car, assuming i might have to do brakes once - i'mgoing to wind up spending at least $1000-1500 in routine maintenance. if i spend 1000 / 36 = $30/month. if it was as high as 2k, then you're up to 60/month. i would think the price diff between a TL-s and a minimaly equipped 335 would be around 100 apart or so...soif maintenance is that much, once you add that in, itmight actually be relatively "even" to lease a 335..if you don't mind missing nav, etc. give up some techno toys for mega power. :) both cars are great. i'm just trying to get a realistic idea of how much routine repairs/maintenance willb e ona TL-S over a 36 month lease. also - if you are looking to minimize payments - what is the sweet spot for the current leases on the TL-S? 36 or 42? when i leased the MDX, the 42 month lease was more affordable...
