The new channel line-up....
by carnaught on Sun Nov 16 10:42:48 PST 2008
...sucks. They've removed my most listened stations and not replaced them. I hope someone from XM/Sirius is monitoring this board. Do we really need a channel with (verbal) Twilight Zone, etc.?
Saw 2 of them
by dean3927 on Sat Nov 15 19:32:49 PST 2008
I just saw 2 non-dealer Genesises on the road (Lake Elsinore, on Collier and 74). The first one seemed to be silver (it was twilight, so hard to tell), and I only caught the rear-left quadrant. At first I thought it was a Bimmer 5 series, but knew something was different. Turned my head as it passed to my left, and sure enough, the "flying H" was prominently displayed. The second one was just minutes later, a beautiful light-blue. Again, wasn't sure what it was, and thought it was a Lexus LS for a while just based on the taillights, then noticed that some details were definitely not Lexus. Moved up right behind it to take a picture with my cell phone, and sure enough, saw the "flying H." I passed it on the right, and it was an elderly couple, with the lady driving. If I am not mistaken, she had a big smile on her face - not surprised. BTW, I stopped by Garden Grove Hyundai a couple of months ago, and not only did they have 8+ Genesises on the lot, it was unexpected to find 2 V8's - one silver, one black, I think.
Re: headlights timing [lecci]
by imidazol97 on Mon Nov 10 06:50:39 PST 2008
Left of the two headlight buttons for headlights and parking, there is a vertical slider. It's labeled Twilight, meaning twilight sentinel that keeps the headlights on. Move it down and that shortens the on time to about 5 seconds. If you are sittting with the headlights on and want them to go off, push it to the bottom and it turns the lights off immediately. They will turn back on when the car is put into park. Move the slider to the top and they should stay on for about 5 minutes. BTW if you just leave the headlight switch pushed in (if you're doing it manually) the car turns everything off in about 10 minutes--inside lights, radio, lights, cigarette lighter power (unless you moved the fuse in the underhood fuse block to make them stay on permanently). You also may not know that if you are driving or sitting and want the headlights off but the parking lights to stay on, push the Parking LIghts button. That turns the headlights off. I didn't find that for a while because our 98 LeSabre didn't have any way to turn off the headlights while cruising through a Christmas display scene in a park where many people turn off the headlights to help the effect of the colored lights.
Re: Problem solved [gagrice]

"...It was because I am cheap..." Ahh, a man after my own heart. :) The problem I have found with CFLs is that they don't reach peak brightness as quickly as the old bulbs. You end up fumbling around in twilight for a few minutes while the bulbs ramp up. I worry that when the commies invade I'll have trouble finding my gun.
Re: willy12 LC nav issue [navguy1]
by willy12 on Sun Jan 27 08:59:17 PST 2008
Hi again Navguy1. yes, the screen is dark. It's interesting that you report Toyota dealers set their own prices for replacement parts. When i mentioned the pricing to others they fell out, even the Toyota folks. I've called the local regional Toyota 1 (800) folks and all they would retort, oh well the guy that installed your battery must have crossed the wires!!! We'll give you a 10% discount--standard we want to please our customers' crap! Bull-s___!! Alas, my plan is to search the internet to see who has a used unit i suppose.....i can't image a new unit would be affordable (i'm willing to spend $500-700 to get the thing up and running again) but not much more than that. Any other ideas or souces? Thanks so much for your kind assistance, it has been a real Twilight Zone trip...... :P

ratchet crankshaft to TDC all cylinders same slight play in valve clearance suggesting no bent rods or timing belt skip. Thinking about removing fuel injector rail to see injectors only for lack of any other idea. Fuel and starting fluid already established but this is crazy. I got fuel, firing order, plug gap, visual plug spark, timing, compression, and valve clearance. Used old and new, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Twilight Zone. I refuse to change the wiper blades because if that works I will need some mental health treatment.
