There is also good reason to believe that if Slick Willey, were still president we may of never been attacked thus your point is ??? Here is my point as reported on MSNBC in 2004: NBC News updated 4:40 p.m. PT, Wed., March. 17, 2004 As the 9/11 commission investigates what Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush might have done to prevent the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, one piece of evidence the commission will examine is a videotape secretly recorded by a CIA plane high above Afghanistan. The tape shows a man believed to Osama bin Laden walking at a known al-Qaida camp. The question for the 9/11 commission: If the CIA was able to get that close to bin Laden before 9/11, why wasn’t he captured or killed? The videotape has remained secret until now. Over the next three nights, NBC News will present this incredible spy footage and reveal some of the difficult questions it has raised for the 9/11 commission. NBC News has obtained, exclusively, extraordinary secret video, shot by the U.S. government. It illustrates an enormous opportunity the Clinton administration had to kill or capture bin Laden. Critics call it a missed opportunity. In the fall of 2000, in Afghanistan, unmanned, unarmed spy planes called Predators flew over known al-Qaida training camps. The pictures that were transmitted live to CIA headquarters show al-Qaida terrorists firing at targets, conducting military drills and then scattering on cue through the desert. Also, that fall, the Predator captured even more extraordinary pictures — a tall figure in flowing white robes. Many intelligence analysts believed then and now it is bin Laden. Why does U.S. intelligence believe it was bin Laden? NBC showed the video to William Arkin, a former intelligence officer and now military analyst for NBC. “You see a tall man…. You see him surrounded by or at least protected by a group of guards.” Another clue: The video was shot at Tarnak Farm, the walled compound where bin Laden is known to live. The layout of the buildings in the Predator video perfectly matches secret U.S. intelligence photos and diagrams of Tarnak Farm obtained by NBC. “It’s dynamite. It’s putting together all of the pieces, and that doesn’t happen every day.… I guess you could say we’ve done it once, and this is it,” Arkin added. The tape proves the Clinton administration was aggressively tracking al-Qaida a year before 9/11. But that also raises one enormous question: If the U.S. government had bin Laden and the camps in its sights in real time, why was no action taken against them? “We were not prepared to take the military action necessary,” said retired Gen. Wayne Downing, who ran counter-terror efforts for the current Bush administration and is now an NBC analyst. “We should have had strike forces prepared to go in and react to this intelligence, certainly cruise missiles — either air- or sea-launched — very, very accurate, could have gone in and hit those targets,” Downing added. Gary Schroen, a former CIA station chief in Pakistan, says the White House required the CIA to attempt to capture bin Laden alive, rather than kill him. What impact did the wording of the orders have on the CIA’s ability to get bin Laden? “It reduced the odds from, say, a 50 percent chance down to, say, 25 percent chance that we were going to be able to get him,” said Schroen. A Democratic member of the 9/11 commission says there was a larger issue: The Clinton administration treated bin Laden as a law enforcement problem. Bob Kerry, a former senator and current 9/11 commission member, said, “The most important thing the Clinton administration could have done would have been for the president, either himself or by going to Congress, asking for a congressional declaration to declare war on al-Qaida, a military-political organization that had declared war on us.” In reality, getting bin Laden would have been extraordinarily difficult. He was a moving target deep inside Afghanistan. Most military operations would have been high-risk. What’s more, Clinton was weakened by scandal, and there was no political consensus for bold action, especially with an election weeks away. NBC News contacted the three top Clinton national security officials. None would do an on-camera interview. However, they vigorously defend their record and say they disrupted terrorist cells and made al-Qaida a top national security priority. “We used military force, we used covert operations, we used all of the tools available to us because we realized what a serious threat this was,” said President Clinton’s former national security adviser James Steinberg. One Clinton Cabinet official said, looking back, the military should have been more involved, “We did a lot, but we did not see the gathering storm that was out there.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4540958/ Yes Rocky, Bill Clinton must share in the responsibility for the 9/11 attacks. If he was not so involved in himself he could have done a better job of Protecting the citizens of the United States. He was a failure in the aspect.

Posted by Gordon You know, with all the ink and air time spent commenting on Mr. Clinton's real and alleged sexual improprieties, you would think that the "fair and balanced" media would note the avalanche of GOP and right-wing sex crimes and hypocrisy. I mean it's not like they don't think sex sells. Consider, it's all Kobe all the time now. Just to get this off my chest, let's list the ones I know about. This is not an exhaustive list because I have a job that does not allow me to track all this stuff down. As Jackson Thoreau said, "There are just too many Republican mistresses and not enough hours in the day. Nevertheless, There's President George Bush accused in a criminal complaint and lawsuit of raping one Margie Denise Schoedinger (who apparently dated Bush years ago when she was a minor) and who is also accused by Tammy Phillips, a former stripper quoted in the National Enquirer in 2000 saying she had an affair with Bush that had ended in 1999. There's the press ignoring extramarital activities by the hypocrites who served on the impeachment committee like Henry Hyde and Bob Barr. And then there's the documented sexual misconduct of Bill Thomas, Bob Livingston, Dick Armey, Dan Burton, Charles Canady, J.C. Watts, Helen Chenoweth, Sue Myrick, Ken Calvert, John Peterson, Dan Crane, Donald Lukens, Jim Gilmore, Scott McInnis and Arlan Stangeland. All Republican hypocrites who attacked Clinton for his affairs and expressed outrage when people put a microscope on their private sexual lives. If you want more, like these randy GOPers, check out the site Congressional Arrest Record. My favorites are Rep. Helen Chenoweth who, during her 1998 campaign, admitted to a six-year adulterous affair with a married associate but noted that "I've asked for God's forgiveness, and I've received it," Rep. Joe Scarborough, and, of course, the Newtster. Remember the non-stop Gary Condit smear campaign? He admits to an affair with Chandra Levy who, when she goes missing, becomes prima facia evidence of murder, much as Hillary is/was accused of offing Vince Foster. No problem with coverage there. But when a dead woman was found in Congressman Joe Scarborough's office, where was the outrage and the non-stop coverage? Now Joe holds forth on his own MSNBC show, lecturing us about the crimes of the Democrats and the bleating the GOP party line. That paragon of virtue Newt Gingrich is on his third 3 wife now. (God, I don't mean literally, I hope. That image is just too much too imagine.) Gingrich campaign worker Anne Manning admitted that she gave Newt oral sex while he was still married to his first wife. She told Vanity Fair, "we had oral sex. He prefers that because then he can say, 'I never slept with her.'" Well, where else did we hear that, I wonder. Meanwhile, he dumps his first wife during a visit to the hospital where she is recovering from surgery for breast cancer. Famously, he attributed Susan Smith's drowning of her children as being due to our "sick system" fostered by the "amoralty" of the Democrats in the White House and then said, "the only way to make it better is to vote Republican." Compassionate. Conservative. But let's not confine ourselves to Congressional Republicans. While we're on the subject of Susan Smith, let's flesh out that story. Not too much later - although I dont recall the media pointing this out, Susan Smith's stepfather publicly apologized to Susan, saying, "You don't have all the guilt in this tragedy," because he had molested her early on, then drew her into a full-blown sexual affair later. He knew she was already traumatized by her father's suicide. As her stepfather, he should have been there FOR her, not there to USE her. And just who was her stepfather, this man named Beverly Russell? He was a key operative in the South Carolina Republican Party and a Christian Coalition member. Susan testified that one morning after he had been out putting up campaign posters for Pat Robertson for president, he came into her bedroom and put her hand on his genitals and kissed her and fondled her. Later, he made her his full-time sex object. Then there's Richard Delgaudio. This prominent GOP activist and Bush Pioneer fund-raiser is the head of an array of conservative activist groups. The compassionate conservative helped out a 16-year-old girl who had a baby and dropped out of school, who needed money. Delgaudio paid her for pornographic photo sessions. But then, he continued to raise money without the embarrassment of newspaper stories or non-stop TV coverage from November, 2001, when he was first arrested, until April 23 when he was sentenced after pleading guilty to child pornography. These GOP leaders seem to have something for pre-pubescent girls. Parker J. Bena, a Virginia GOP activist and Bush elector was indicted and convicted in 2001 for possessing child pornography. Kevin Coan, GOP election official in St. Louis, who found time from altering votes during the 200 election to solicit sex from a 14-year-old girl on the internet. Let's also point out Philip Giordano, the former GOP mayor of Waterbury, who was sentenced to 37 years in prison for soliciting sex with underaged girls. And, let's not forget Randy Ankeney, rising star in the Colorado GOP circles, who was arrested in 2001 for trying to have sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on Internet. The indictment revealed he warned the girl and her family he'd ruin them if they told anyone. Doesn't that sound familiar? After his arrest, another 17-year-old girl who worked on Ankeney's campaign came forward alleging he sexually assaulted her. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault of a child. How about registered GOP hypocrite John Fund, late of the Wall Street Journal, a prominent anti-abortion columnist and fund raiser? He lost his position after it was revealed that he impregnated the daughter of an old girlfriend and then encouraged her to abort his child. Besides Oxy-Contin addict and uncharged felon Rush, Florida GOP smear radio host Marty Glickman was arrested in 2001 for giving drugs and money to underage girls in exchange for sex. He kept his show spreading lies and denying the charges until he was convicted, taken off the air only because there was no studio in the Palm Beach County Jail.

Bush is 100% pro-life and has done nothing as President to change the law. On CNN's Crossfire on October 20, 2000, Larry Flynt exploded a bombshell: that he has evidence that George W. Bush was "involved in an abortion in Texas" in the early 1970's - when abortions were still illegal. In the winter of 1971 George W. Bush was dating a woman named Robin Lowman (now Robin Garner). Miss Lowman became pregnant by Smirk and he arranged for her to have an abortion - which in the great state of Texas in 1971 was very illegal! Not to mention that George W. is running as a pro-life candidate for the presidency. The unnamed source of this story, was a friend of Robin Lowman's and the girlfriend of the man who arranged the abortion. His name is Robert Carl Chandler. Chandler is a Bush friend and supporter from way back and he made the arrangements for Miss Lowman's abortion at the Twelve Oaks Hospital in Houston, TX (now the Bayou City Medical Center). The source overheard the call by Mr. Chandler to arrange the abortion and the source visited Robin Lowman at the Twelve Oaks Hospital after the procedure. The source meanwhile, is afraid of coming forward, saying that she was threatened by Chandler and another Bush friend and supporter named Jim Bath. Bath has longstanding intelligence connections, and played a role in the BCCI scandal. Robin Lowman (now Garner) is married to Jerry Lee Garner who is an FBI agent. So, that's the story: an illegal back room abortion arranged by the Republican party Presidential candidate who is running on a pro-life ticket. The CNN Coverup Amazingly, CNN scrubbed its own story!!!! This has all the markings of a cover-up by CNN - just like the cover-ups of Bush's many other scandals, from going AWOL, to using illegal drugs, to corruption in Texas government, to lying under oath. Here is the original transcript that was published by CNN, but has now been scrubbed. [ROBERT] NOVAK: Mr. Flynt, never let it be said that we censor any of our guests here on CROSSFIRE, and you said you wanted to talk about the election. Tell me what you wanted to say. FLYNT: Well, during the impeachment debacle, we did an investigation which resulted in the resignation of Bob Livingston and others and we have continued this investigation and for eight months we've been looking into George W. Bush's background. And we've found out in the early 1970s he was involved in an abortion in Texas, and I just think that it's sad that the mainstream media, who's aware of this story, won't ask him that question when they were able to ask him the drug question without any proof at all, and we've got all kinds of proof on this issue. NOVAK: Well, you're... FLYNT: You know, the guy admitted he was a drunk for 20 years, and if the abortion issue is true then that puts him lower on the morality scale than Bill Clinton. NOVAK: Mr. Flynt, you said if it's true and you have no proof of that. I gather you are a very strong... FLYNT: The hell we don't have proof. NOVAK: Sir, I gather you're a very strong Gore supporter. Is that correct? FLYNT: I'll vote for the lesser of the two evils. I don't like either one of them. [BILL] PRESS: All Right, Larry Flynt, a man who speaks his word, but we remind you they are Larry Flynt's words and not ours. Larry Flynt, thank you very, very much for joining us. This was followed by an online chat, in which Flynt went into greater detail: CNN - Mr. Flynt, I would like to know how you plan to protect yourself from a law suit by claiming to have the goods on GWBush. Flynt: Because we have them and the truth is an absolute defense. CNN; When and where are you going to publish information about George W. Bush? Flynt: When I said that we had the proof, I am referring to knowing who the girl was, knowing who the doctor was that pereformed the abortion, evidence from girlfriends of hers at the time, who knew about the romance and the subsequent abortion. The young lady does not want to go public, and without her willingness, we don't feel that we're on solid enough legal ground to go with the story, because should she say it never happened, then we've got a potential libel suit. But we know we have enough evidence that we believe completely. One of the things that interested us was that this abortion took place before Roe Vs. Wade in 1970, which made it a crime at the time. I'd just like the national media to ask him if abortion is okay for him and his family, but not for the rest of America. We're not looking at it as a big issue, we're looking at it as a situation of people not being told the truth. I think the American people have a right to know everything there is to know about someone running for President. Why is this story important? 1. Because George W. Bush says he is "pro-life," which means he regards abortion as murder. If he was "involved" in an abortion, then in his own heart he is a murderer. 2. Because George W. Bush supports a "Human Life Amendment" to the Constitution, which would overturn Roe v. Wade. This would subject 1.3 MILLION women each year - and their doctors - to criminal prosecution. 3. Because George W. Bush points to the two most anti-abortion Justices of the Supreme Court - Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia - as his models for Supreme Court appointees. And he may get to appoint a Supreme Court Justice soon. 4. Because George W. Bush has a solid record of opposing abortion as Governor of Texas, where he signed 18 anti-abortion laws, and President [sic]. 5. Because George W. Bush ran on "restoring honor and integrity to the White House," and therefore should be expected to tell the truth. George W. Bush must state clearly whether or not he was involved in an illegal abortion in Texas. And the media must tell the American people! con't.........

cooterbfd: MANAGEMENT, not the UNION decided to ignore the US car market for 15 YEARS while they concentrated on trucks and SUV's One of the reasons management focused on trucks was because they were the high-margin products needed to maintain the high cost structure of the companies, which included very generous wages and benefits for both white- and blue-collar workers and retirees. A company can't pay UAW-level wages and benefits when it relies on small cars to bring home the bacon. Americans simply will not pay enough for most small cars to make them THAT profitable. Note that even Toyota was avidly pursuing the light-truck market (to the point of building that huge new plant in Texas to build the bigger-than-ever Tundra). Why? Because that is where the fat profits were. And Honda still imports the Fit from Japan. About the only real "premium" small car that sells in large numbers is the Honda Civic.

If I heard that the UAW was protesting/striking because the management was allowing a junk product to be made then I'd see much more value to the high UAW wages and benefits. I have asked that very question. Has the UAW ever gone on strike because they were ashamed of the product they were building? Another question. What percentage of white collar folks make less per year than the UAW workers at GM? I would expect the engineers to make a good percentage more on a yearly basis.
