2009 Accord LX Automatic Price
by qinsong99 on Sat Oct 18 18:15:32 PDT 2008
I bought a Accord LX AT for $19865 (including destination) plus TTL ($249.5 documentation, $25.5 title, 6.75% sales tax, $21500 OTD price) today at Honda Marysville in central Ohio. I think it is pretty good for a 2009 model at this time. Any opinion? Thank for this great forum.

Hello Bug 4, Thanks for responding to my question on the TSB's and how to look for them. My car is still in dealership and I was suppose to pick the car up yesterday but they advised that the part had not come in yet so the car would not be ready until Monday. I spoke with the head of the service department at Wilde Honda in Waukesha,WI and he is willing to drive my car with me in the car along with another service manager when I pick the car up so I can point anything out to them that may not be right. I feel like the dealership is trying to do everything they can to get this problem fixed. I have advised them of my frustration of paying $32K for a car and having so many problems with the gearbox/transmission with gears popping out on 3rd and 4th gear. I really hope the fix is for good this time on this accord 2008 v6exl 6 speed manual coupe. The fit and finish of the vehicle, comfort, styling, interior, exterior design have been excellent with no rattles so A+ to the engineers that worked on those areas of the car at Honda. The interesting thing is that the both the 2001 Acura 3.2tl and the now the 2008 Accord Coupe EXLV6 w/navigation have both had transmission/gear problems and both were made in Marysville, Ohio. The 1998 Prelude that I had was made in Japan and I had it for 45,000 miles and not one problem. Anyway that has been my experience; thus, Japan rocks they seem to be on top of it. Thanks for time to write back and clarify. I talked my friend into buying the 2008 4 cylinder Accord EXL coupe and he does not have any problems with it and averages 30-32 city/hwy driving and 33 on the highway and is very satisfied with the car with no problems at all. I really wish I could say the same. Honda does an excellent job on four cylinder engines with the best in the industry, however I am not so sure about the v6's given my current and past experiences; thus, I am hoping Honda gearbox/transmission engineering department will win my confidence back. Take care and have a great day. Signed, 3rd and 4th Gear Popping Accord EXLV6 with navigation 6 speed manual
Re: Quick test drive: FWD 09 TL [billyperks2]

billy....many years ago, you could probably make a case regarding "babying" a car in the first few miles. Today (probably over the last decade), that's not the case. Manufacturing tolerances and testing are to the point where most manufacturers will even state that "break in" is really a thing of the past. The most I've ever seen regarding "breaking in" a new car is to vary the RPM and try not to induce a panic stop. Really, those are about the only qualifiers. I actually live in OH, about a couple of hours from the Marysville, OH plant where the TL and Accord is made. I've visited the plant on a couple of occasions....one time got a tour. Another time saw them pull cars off the end of the manufacturing/delivery line and test them. They redline them. They drive them aggressively. They induce the ABS panic stops. They run the transmissions through hard gear changes (both manual and automatic). They even have an engine room where they test the "green" motors at high RPM. Bottom line in all this, they test them much more aggressively than any test driver (including me) could ever do. Then, they pull them onto a delivery truck to take them to the dealerships. Every car new car I've ever bought, I've test driven to find out what the car can really do.....to no ill effect. How else are you going to tell if you really like the car or not? You're going to do that on a daily or weekly basis as you merge onto a busy highway. You're going to do that on a daily/weekly basis on the open road. If there's one thing Hondas/Acuras are known for, it's their longevity and durability. Believe me, before they reach the lot, before they even get on the delivery truck, they've been tested in ways neither you, nor I would ever dream of. That's done while the "plastic" is still fresh on the seats, too. 50-60-100 test miles on a new car is nothing....particularly for a Honda/Acura product. If you really want to see some hard initial miles on a new car, go to Bowling Green, KY to the Corvette plant (about 4 hours from me....something I've done.too). They pound those cars HARD. I've seen them "drift" some of the new Corvettes as new cars. And then, they put them on a truck to be delivered to the showroom.

Don't you need to squeeze everything you can out of a car purchase in California because it costs $827,000 for a 4 bedroom house with a pool? Well, the combination of a reliable vehicle and a more vehicle friendly climate means that things don't wear out as fast. If you have been programmed that you need to buy a new car every 3 years, bless you, the economy needs you. I wasn't slighting the domestic manufacturers, my experience with most relatively modern domestic nameplates has been very positive. In the Midwest where a lot of American cars 'used to' be made, our house payments for an identical house are under $1000 Not being house poor, we don't have to get the car that squeezes an extra $500 in resale value for year one, or one extra mpg, or needs 0.3 less repairs in the first 3 years of ownership, and keeps good jobs here. Well, I wasn't house poor until recently, when my home in the midwest lost 30% its value in the last 4 years. I would love to live in your neighborhood where value isn't important. How do I get into that country club? When you mention "good jobs here," are you referring to a neighborhood in Hermosillo, Mexico or perhaps something in Ontario, Camada? Or Lafayette, IN, Marysville, OH, or Louisville, KY? Japan to buy JP Morgan. What does that mean? They get to rate American companies and get their stocks to fall, creating more buyout opportunity. Yeah, because that worked so well for them in the 80s with real estate... Basic transportation is when you don't get to brag about your car's resale value? Classy is when you can, but the house next door is for sale 'foreclosure'? I never understood how a car's best feature could be getting rid of it.
NO SHIMMY IN NON NAVI
by golfrski on Sat Sep 13 06:54:23 PDT 2008
Ok so this will sound VERY odd, but I have confirmed this with 3 other drivers and my sales rep at the Honda dealer.... ALL of the 08 and 09 V6's I have driven all shimmy / vibrate at 64-71MPH with the most notable vibrations occurring at 65-67 MPH. what is highly mysterious is that ALL of the vibration affected accords have NAVIGATION. Yesterday we drove 3 diff 09 ACCORDS all made in Marysville and delivered in AUG, all V6's- 4 door sedans and ALL had NO NAVIGATION... each one drove smooth like butter..... no vibration, and minimal VCM shock... ??? anyone see this..?? Navi should make NO impact on the suspension, struts, wheels/tires etc. but we proved this out with several cars yesterday and at 2 diff dealerships in our area.. very very odd.....

With your strong feelings about the UAW, I cannot imagine how you could buy anything not UAW built. What did your family say when you bought that Acura? Did you feel a bit hypocritical? I gagrice, did have lapse of disloyalty to GM. I as I explained before which I know you read GAGRICE, got burned by the largest dealer network in the U.S. named AUTONATION, and after spending several hours with this person and that person from GM, and nothing accomplished I was so pissed off that I spent like $350 with Equifax, and had all illegal bank inquires removed from my credit. It took me 3 months and a lot of misery but I got em' removed. Now the difference between you and I gagrice, is Rocky has only purchased just one foreign automobile nameplate and every car I've owned was made in the U.S. of A. The Acura TL, you are attempting to dog me out over was made in Marysville, Ohio and had a domestic content of 65% . I was looking at the Lexus, IS 350 but the fact that it wasn't nearly as "American" as the Acura TL, and the fact that you couldn't get a 6-speed in the Lexus IS 350, and the IS didn't have the build quality, room, or fuel economy, handling that the TL posessed made my choice even easier. Yeah I could of purchased a Ford or Chrysler, right ??? They offered nothing in the ELLPS, segment I was shopping in. Dad, and I didn't speak for like 3 or 4 months because he was so angry at me but he eventually softened up and accepted what I did. I did like the Acura TL, and will always be a fan of this car because it's indeed a fine automobile and the 2009 has even more "Gadgetology" than the 2005, I owned. I guess I opened the door to that one, eh ??? You opened my closet door to my skeleton, and appluad you for that !!!! ;) I would think that the UAW member would rather have someone rag on how lazy and worthless they are and still buy what they build. If you buy a UAW built car you have the right to give em H--L. At least Bob and I are buying vehicles that put money in the pockets of Americans. -See Above Post !!! I wouldn't doubt if I've owned more "American Made" automobiles in my lifetime than either you or Bob, so what do you have to say to that ??? I bet I come at least close !!!! :P You were buying Made in Japan, Landcruiser's at my age weren't you ???? :P More than likely my next vehicle will be built by BMW in the USA. Why would you waste money on a mediocre vehicle like the X5 ??? I have 2 friends that own them and for that kind of money just I expected well more !!!! Save some money and get a much better vehicle the next SRX, but I guess that wouldn't go with your California, celebrity !!!! :surprise: It is impossible to buy any vehicle that is 100% made in the USA. The higher the US content the better. True, but it sounds like you aren't practicing what you preach if you are going BMW. What's is the X5's domestic content ???? 5% ??? I don't think of Canadian or Mexican as Made in the USA. Though they are closer neighbors than Japan or Germany. I'd rather buy a automobile from Canada, than Mexico. I'd rather buy a German or Japanese, made car than one made in Mexico, but again if the Mexican Made, vehicle had a much higher domestic content and supported more american jobs then the car coming from Canada or Mexico. I guess again that was part of my reasoning behind buying the Acura TL, at that juncture in time. "The Rock"
