Back to the pain percent
by dave8697 on Mon Nov 17 05:23:08 PST 2008
$1.83 is price as of yesterday 30 mile commute is less than a gallon each way or about $60 a month. It used to be $120 a month in 17 mpg 4X4. Commute used to be 47 miles each way when gas was $3.00. That was $310 a month so I drove other vehicles that get 23-28 mpg. Still, if old pain index was 4.4%, new one is under 1%. Thats commute only, not total family driving. total family driving could be 2 times my commute now, and was 1.5 times commute when commute was 47 miles each way.

that will be one thing to follow closely in the news. Just what kind of import tariff will the government put on an all-electric car like the 2010 Pininfarina-Bollore B0? I mean, isn't that something worth looking at? $70-$88 dollars a year to power your vehicle? It's something worth lobbying for, eh? I just read here http://blogs.internetautoguide.com/6300851/auto-news/pininfarina-bollore-electri- c-car-concept/index.html that the car can be charged up in a matter of hours. Have to stay tuned on charge-up time. It looks like it's gonna be faster than any other all-electric car.

That was all GM advertising and ended up a big fiasco. The 276 winners had to come up with about $7000 in taxes for the Federal Government. Oprah drives a G500 Mercedes last I read. Probably does the Limo thing most of the time. Oprah is no friend of the Domestics or UAW labor. For a brand new Pontiac G-Six, the model given away on the show, the sticker price is $28,500. The $28,500 would need to be claimed as income so, depending on the individuals tax bracket, the tax could be as high as $7,000. And that was after Pontiac agreed to pay most of the local charges, including state sales tax and licensing fees. The Harpo Spokeswomen said winners had three choices. They could keep the car and pay the tax, sell the car and pay the tax with the profits or forfeit the car. http://money.cnn.com/2004/09/22/news/newsmakers/oprah_car_tax/index.htm

Does it really work? - SVC

In 2009 Outback with Harmon Kardon (limited model and up) there is suppose to be feature that will increase the volume as the vehicle speed increases. I have seen it work in 2009 Legacy (same HK system), but does not work in an outback although the subaru brochure and site says it should (http://www.subaru.com/sub/misc/harmankardon/index.html) If you have a 2009 outback limited+ can you check and let me know.
