It can be a frustrating stretch. I used to work in Olympia and would have to travel to eastern Washington all the time. I'd head down I-5 and hook up with 12 to go across White Pass. Much better than dealing with the Ft. Lewis and Tacoma traffic to get to I-90 during rush hour. Most folks were considerate enough to use the pull-outs but not everyone. You have to hope that you time things right and get around the big rigs when there were passing lanes. I always got very lucky. Looks like I'm going to make that trip again here in a couple of weeks. We'll see how it goes. :)
Re: 2008 Civic LX Automatic Seattle Area [erci]

In the Seattle area, dealers are still talking MSRP (maybe a few hundred off) which is really frustrating, especially when I read this forum and see members from other areas of the country getting the LX for near invoice. Around here, many of the dealers will not give ANY sort of pricing info via email or even phone and want you to waste time coming down to the dealership so that they can negotiate you DOWN to MSRP (from their "adjusted market value) - what a joke! That being said, here's how I'd rank the dealers in the area (except downtown Seattle) in terms of my experience. It's hard to compare pricing among them, but here are my experiences 1. Lynnwood Honda - prices seem slightly higher than others and they don't seem to want to deal much, but very professional group of guys here. Internet staff is first class - very happy to share pricing. No games or sleazy vibes here. I just pre-ordered a 2009 Civic and take delivery soon! 2. Bellevue Honda - Very professional, the internet guys I dealt with were great. Nice facilities. Almost made a deal here - wish they offered me just a tad more for my trade 3. Renton Honda - wasted my time telling me they'd go below MSRP over the phone and then wouldn't budge under MSRP when I came in. Nice guys until it's time to deal - then arrogance takes over. 4. Auburn (Hinshaw?) - Pretty upfront about MSRP when I stopped by, but a complete a**hole about it. Incredibly arrogant. 5. Kirkland Honda - pretty bad. sleazy all the way up the "management" chain. typical salesman tricks. sales guy promises the world via email, but is "out" when I come to visit and has me work with the new guy. Lowest trade-in value I've seen. Lowballed me by THOUSANDS less than other dealers. 6. Klein Honda (Everett) - worst of the worst. slimy staff all the way up the chain. plays typical 4-square pricing games. Used car manager went on an "extended" test drive with my trade in and nobody in the dealership could reach him via cell....then they "lost" my keys when he came back. ugh NEVER again! I also had some exchanges with the dealers in Olympia and Burlington and they either wouldn't give pricing info or only quoted MSRP, so I didn't waste time driving.
Road Trip
by steve_ on Sat Aug 30 19:08:19 PDT 2008
I just spent six days heading to the Olympic Peninsula from Boise and back. Going over, we went the back way mostly on Highway 12 - scenic cruise via mid-Idaho, Mt. Rainier, and hit the coast south of Olympia. After some city cruising with friends and relatives for a couple of days in Seattle we bombed back to town today on the Interstate. 55 on the two lane backtops going over was very pleasant. Truck traffic was light today, likely due to the holiday weekend, and 70 felt ok in Washington state, especially after traffic thinned when we headed off on I-82 away from the bulk of the traffic. Put the cruise on 73 for most of that. Oregon's limit is 65, and I kept a bit under 70 there. The short home stretch in Idaho is 75, and that felt a bit much in the minivan. 70 for the limit overall would have felt "right" to me on most of the interstate portions today.

One year I did do a tasting road trip. Napa Valley at that time more smaller wineries, Olympia Beer, Coors Beer, etc etc. Back then tasting was no charge! :shades:

It hadn't sold at the buy it now when I posted the link. It wasn't dirt cheap, but it seems like a fair price for a car that with a little detailing you could proudly take to any local show. It's also very 50s looking and it is uncommon...there is some appeal. It is a photogenic old beast too, nice colors...that blue is maybe a shade lighter than my fintail. Speaking of obscure cars, I received an excited call from a friend about 0730 this morning - he was driving through Olympia WA and claimed he was driving beside a Tucker. I know the LeMay museum in Tacoma has a Tucker, a blue one...my friend said the one he saw was a light yellow. He said it had collector plates, so I guess it shouldn't be a fake. Seeing a Tucker on the road has to be pretty unusual.
