Re: Honda Fit near Seattle [wxl]

I've just started my search for a Fit. Which dealer was willing to go $550.00 over MSRP? In my limited quest I found that one dealer in Burien was not doing the Costco pricing because Costco was negotiating for $2500 over MSRP (if you can believe that) and their dealership was willing to sell for $1000 over. Nice. When I applied for the Costco program I received a response from a Bremerton dealer inviting me to come on down. I've since asked them what their negotiated price with Costco is. I'm waiting for their reply. The Lynnwood dealership had a $2000 plus mark up on the window stickers. When I inquired about the high mark up, the car salesman said that because we have cars on the lot you may be able to get a base (the one I test drove) model for $500 over MSRP. Which dealers have you looked at?

Hi Norm, Thanks for the info. I got about the same deal as you a few days ago at Acura of Lynnwood. I agree with your assumption about the location of where you are buying the car. Acura's are extremely popular in the PNW, so I can't see us Pacific Nortwesterners getting $35.5K for an MDX with Tech and PTG like some people were saying on here. Love the car so far. The MPG is not good, but what can you expect from a 4500lb car with 300 hp and all-time all-wheel drive? For those who want to save money on gas, buy a Prius and quit your whining. :P
Costco Honda purchases

Hi Jacob1, I purchased a 2009 Civic EX-L with Navigation through the Costco program last month. My car actually arrives on Friday! The Costco dealer is Lynnwood Honda. the price I paid was 23,700. This included mud flaps, door edging and wheelwell edging. When taxes and title were figured in it came to 26,300 (give or take $200-I can't remember the exact amount). Good luck in your endeavors. I strongly recommend the Costco program and Lynnwood Honda. The salesman I dealt with (MB) was great - very easy to work with, no pressure.

Acura of Lynnwood matches all other local Acura dealers discounts and incentives, for example the 10% "purchase discount," from Bellevue.

I think you nailed it right on when you said that those sitting up high in the SUV's and pick-em-up trucks get a "false sense of confidence". It's part of the American birthright to sit up high in our vehicles and drive like we own the road...apparently. steve, yeah, I don't always know the different districts in Seattle. But, there's a Dick's Drive-In on Holman Road. That might be in the Wallingford district of Seattle. I went to that one on Holman Road a lot. Also, there's a Dick's on Lake City Way in NE Seattle. There's one on Capitol Hill, just east of downtown Seattle. There's two more that I know of. One's in the University(of Washington)District and the other one is about a block from Key Arena, next to the Seattle Center, where the 1962 World's Fair was. That one is known as the Queen Anne Hill Dick's. Man, I could always count on a delicious Dick's Deluxe burger or a Dick's Special. The Special has no cheese but it has a delicious mixture of lettuce, onions and sauce that makes for a wonderful eating experience. One thing that would've taken me off my commute if I had commuted from the city of Seattle from a job to up north, where I always lived when living in that area, would be Dick's Drive-In restaurants. Forget about a $50 meal in the revolving Space Needle restaurant, when you can eat a delicious Dick's hamburger and get a greasy, potato skin-left-on the fries order of fries and a Coke or chocolate milkshake, man. I'm starting to get hungry for lunch as I type this! Another thing that frustrated me about living in the Seattle area. Dick's Drive-In decided to stay only in the Seattle area. They didn't put one up north in Edmonds, Lynnwood or Everett! Wherever they locate they'll do well, but the creators of the restaurant wanted to keep it in Seattle. Oh well.

If you are going to pay with a check, and do not have a trade-in, you will do ok. You can just walk-in and do ok. All year. Wear a smile, and let them know with an honest smile, that if you can't reach a deal, no hard feelings. Try Honda of Fife. (They have 08's, but can't say about two weeks out) But, Lynnwood Honda will be right down the street from you. Start at $1,000 under MSRP, and stay there. You may even be able to beat that on an '08. Honda dealers have last years model, brand new, until they are all gone. Even if it takes a few Months after the new year's model comes out. Maybe this year will be different with the Civic and Fit. MSRP number is easy to find, here at Edmunds, and elsewhere. 2009 might make better sense, but that will be probably $1,500 higher than a 'negotiated' '08. One bit of bad news, we have Sales Tax in Washington. It varies from city to city, but expect to pay at least 8.3% Tax. Ouch!! Then maybe $200 - $250 for Title, License, and Document fees.
