I'm more concerned with the red light running photos. I believe the city puts these in and adjusts the yellow to be much shorter in an effort to raise revenue. I heard about a product you spray from a can on your plate that causes an overexposure.

Does anyone know if those spray on lisc plate covers or plastic covers really stop photo tix machines from recording your lisc number?

Thanks for answering but I thought of that and it doesn't make sense. If you can still choose a cabin temperature then the compressor still has to do enough work to cool the cabin to the desired temp. right? The only thing that makes sense to me is this scenario. You are requesting a 67 degree cabin. It is 55 degrees outside. If you use econ the computer might be smart enough to turn off the compressor somewhat and use outside air for the job. What else could it be?
Navigation update.

I am a little PO'd that Acura has not supported the navigation system on my 98 RL since 2003. The data is WAY out of date. Their answer is, "Buy a new car." Someone, (I bought used) paid about $40K for the car and surely expected the nav data to be undated more than 5 years. Does anyone know if a newer update is possible?
Econ mode?
by mike734 on Sat Sep 08 13:08:18 PDT 2007
I have a 98 RL. The A/C system can run full auto or manual over ride. In manual mode there are 3 modes: Off, Econ and On. I understand off and on. Does anyone KNOW what econ does? Acura technicians don't know. I can't find a reference in the owners manual or service manual.
Re: My Outback Let Me Down [wmquan]

I live in the Bothell/Kenmore area, and agree that this winter has been pretty bizarre, as today's snow confirms. A couple of years ago, I bought a set of Goodyear Eagle GT-HRs for my OB - mostly for our typically wet winters - but they've proven to be quite good for snow (NOT ice). They now have about 25K on them, and allowed me to scoot up a very steep neighborhood street this morning. Steering control had been quite good, and braking (depending on the snow/slush/ice conditions) OK. They really do facilitate the get-up-and-go part, so getting stuck is not a concern - just don't get over-confident in the braking department. When I bought them, Tire Rack had good ratings all around, and they are excellent for both wet and dry. I got them at a good price at Woodinville Goodyear - in "downtown" W-ville. I believe they're still available. Good luck - let's hope this craziness stops soon! Ken in (snowy, icy, paralyzed) Seattle
