Re: 2006 EX 4 Cyl [tallman1]

That's been my experience a few times driving a similar route (Gig Harbor to Tri-Cities and back) Pretty close, Tallman. My route is Tri-Cities to Vashon. Yes, since I do this trip 1x month, I'll do another check in January. Snow tires won't be as good as the Michelins, but I won't be running AC then. Tires make a big difference. I know that the car won't coast nearly as fast with the snow tires. My guess for winter driving: 33 mpg.
Whew! Finally caught up in here...

Welcome to the new members of the crew (tsy, noproblem and anybody else I've missed in the last 20 pages or so)! Sorry I missed the bike discussion. I just got rid of a '96 or '97 Gary Fisher with Shimano trigger shifters. Hadn't ridden it in at least a year and only a couple times in the 3 years prior. I've never ridden the Grip shift stuff much so no comment there. I've been reading up on what's new in the Mt. bike world and it seems like the trigger shifters are making a comeback with both SRAM and Shimano making their own versions. I ride on the road mostly. OK, actually I race on the road quite a bit. Our team picked up a great deal on K2 bikes this year. Yes, the same K2 that makes skis and got started (and is still based here in Washington, Vashon Island to be exact). Manufacturing has now been moved to China (skis) and Taiwan (bikes). Good stuff though. The road bike is their top of the line Mod 5.0 with the new Shimano Dura Ace 10 speed components and a frame made of Aluminum and carbon fiber. Very light and quite responsive, but still quite comfortable for those long rides. While we're talking bikes. Way to go Lance! Actually the race was a bit of a let down. I would have preferred it if somebody could have given Lance a real run for the yellow. I was particularly disappointed when Tyler Hamilton threw in the towel. I was really hoping we could have had a U.S. podium with Tyler, Levi or Bobby Julich up there with Lance. Oh well... still a great race and the TV coverage was fantastic this year. Even Al Trautwig wasn't too bad. Of course Bob Roll had me LMAO just about every day and what can you say about the class of Phil and Paul. Top notch stuff! Pat - Glad to hear your daughter is doing much better. Still sending some positive thoughts your way! Also glad to hear everyone's having some good holiday's. My wife and I will be heading out for ours in a couple of weeks. We'll be taking the new GT Wagon on it's first road trip here in the west. The plan is to head East across Northern Idaho into Montana, down through Yellowstone for a couple days, another couple days in Jackson Hole WY (where I grew up) then down to visit my Father, Sister and half Sister for a few days in Denver before we make a B-line back to Seattle. Hmmm, must be Seafair practice going on. As I write this the Blue Angels are making some passes over Lake Washington, Mercer Island and of course my house in Bellevue. Cats don't seem to mind too much though. OK, now I'm rambling so I'll cut it short. Happy to see a new crew member from Seattle since Steve and his WRX left a year or so ago when he jumped to the Jeep camp. Welcome Tom! We'll have to have a crew get together up here sometime. Maybe we can get Paul (hammerhead) over from Spokavegas! ;-) Cheers! -Ian
What I'm riding...

Greg, Thanks for the compliment. Yes, it does take a lot of trainging to ride an 80 mile ride, not to mention race one at those speeds. Fortunately there's something called drafting that we cyclists get to take advantage of. ;-) I've just started riding a K2 bike. Yes, that's right the little family run company that originally made skiis on Vashon Island here in the Seattle area has expanded to bicycles (among many other things). Anyway, it's a K2 Mod 5.0 (www.k2bike.com), which is their top of the line racing bike. I don't know about the rest of the country but it sure is spring here! It was 70+ here yesterday and this morning until the afternoon rain blew through. If it's nice why don't you dust off that bike, put some air in the tires and feel the wind in your face! It really does bring out the kid in you! It's also been known to make your heart beat faster and lower the risk of heart disease. ;-) Cheers! -Ian
2004 Pt Cruiser Ltd. Edition Turbo
by stacie on Fri Aug 13 11:41:34 PDT 2004
I've fallen in love with the new 2005 Mustang and want to order one. Unfortunately, I just bought my beautiful 2004 PT Cruiser Ltd. Edition Turbo (not the GT), Seamist green with chrome package, automatic transmission, 5000 miles, in Oct. 2003. What kind of trade-in could I expect? Thanks.

This isnt going to help much but I will pass it on anyway, maybe make you feel a bit better. A friend recently purchased a new BMW Z4 3.0 in MA. She took it into Inskip BMW in RI for some minor warranty repairs. When she asked about a loaner she was told that Inskip will only provide a "free" loaner: 1 if the car was purchased there, & 2, if she had purchased a premium service package that would include the "free" loaner. Hows that for adding insult to injury on a $43K car! I had owned a BMW in CA and Long Beach BMW always gave me a free loaner, so I followed up with BMW US and they said that the availability of loaners, free or othewise, was at the discretion of the dealership (Mercedes dealers take note!). Inskip BMW btw also has an Enterprise dealership and they offer a reduced rental fee, obviously Enterprise has come up with a winning business model by putting outlets in dealership service offices. Having said all that, my Mazda Dealership, Vashon in MA did give me a free loaner when I left my RX8 for a scheduled service, go figure.

i was actually down at colman dock this morning, i was on the vashon ferry back from visiting some family. i don't know if you saw that the 4th ave bridge in oly is done with. they're going to tear it down and rebuild it, finally. lot's of damage, i'm in oly right now at my parents house. please would someone explain to me what headers do and what advantage they give you besides making your car noisy. also what will a new cam do, specifically a "racing cam". my friend has an accord and is set on doing these mods to his car. i think they are pretty stupid myself, for an accord at least. i could understand if you had a 67 camaro (for example) and threw headers on, they belong there, but a 96 accord coupe? he also wants to change the pullies to a different ratio and cut out the a/i and whatever else it is that gets cut out. could you please give me the pro's and con's of these mods.
