Re: Genesis Comments [marvinlee1]

Hey Marvin, try Lithia Hyundai in Renton Washington. They are approx 167 miles from you and show to have a white on black premium plus package 3.8 V6. And sandy, to answer your question, yes the shipments from Hyundai have slowed somewhat. The first allocation that I have seen with Genesi on it came out late last week. That means that dealers are operating on the initial orders that they placed back in April and May. If your dealers didn't order very many, or if the Genesis has been a good seller in your area, then things will continue to be a bit thin for another couple of weeks.

OK, with the economy down, they need sales. But do they think that the economy is down only for car sales people? It is selfish, and very dumb, to think that when the economy is down you would do better by squeezing the customer harder. The opposite is true. When times are hard, you need to be more inviting, make better offers and terms. Most people are not pressed to buy a brand new car full of bells and whistles they do not really need. When times are tough, people tend to hang on the their cars longer, or consider a used car... That guy at Renton Honda Washington deserves first prize of "idiot of the year". He told me that he was too busy with his other 100 customers to look up the details in my email (where I specified what I wanted). There are so many other Honda dealerships around here, surly I can find someone that can do business with some basic mutual respect. First, he assumed that I am stupid enough to buy the story that he is so busy. Everyone knows the times are very slow at the dealerships. Second, I will not do business with some jerk that is trying to make himself be so imprortent (100 other customers), to the point of having my request to read the email refused!
Re: 2009 Civic EX-L prices [dangord]
by 1jacob on Sun Sep 28 12:16:52 PDT 2008
I really like the Civic EX-L and I want it in silver color. I could not find a single such car within 100 miles. I called Honda, and they could not find one either, but they were not sure because dealers do trades. So I called and emailed a few dealers around here. The "game" is to try and get me convinced to buy something else, such as a different model, a hybrdid, an EX with a non factory leather and so on. Renton Honda asked me if I am willing to wait for 4 month! Then they call here and want to know if I am coming to the dealership. I said that I stated clearly what I want, and to please call is and when they have it. The guy sounded rude, and he said he has a hundred customers, and he can not remember what everyone wants. I told him to look at the email and he became ruder and said that he is not interested in doing business with me. I said fine, and hung up. I thought that with the economy in bad shape, and loans getting hard to come by, a dealer would not be so incredibly stupid as to lose a potential customer. I know what I want, and given that a dealer finds it, and for a fair price (somewhere around MSRP, and I would even go a little over) I will be a good customer. That should is very simple and straight forward.
Re: 2008 Civic LX Automatic Seattle Area [erci]
by aaseattle on Fri Sep 12 23:38:45 PDT 2008
In the Seattle area, dealers are still talking MSRP (maybe a few hundred off) which is really frustrating, especially when I read this forum and see members from other areas of the country getting the LX for near invoice. Around here, many of the dealers will not give ANY sort of pricing info via email or even phone and want you to waste time coming down to the dealership so that they can negotiate you DOWN to MSRP (from their "adjusted market value) - what a joke! That being said, here's how I'd rank the dealers in the area (except downtown Seattle) in terms of my experience. It's hard to compare pricing among them, but here are my experiences 1. Lynnwood Honda - prices seem slightly higher than others and they don't seem to want to deal much, but very professional group of guys here. Internet staff is first class - very happy to share pricing. No games or sleazy vibes here. I just pre-ordered a 2009 Civic and take delivery soon! 2. Bellevue Honda - Very professional, the internet guys I dealt with were great. Nice facilities. Almost made a deal here - wish they offered me just a tad more for my trade 3. Renton Honda - wasted my time telling me they'd go below MSRP over the phone and then wouldn't budge under MSRP when I came in. Nice guys until it's time to deal - then arrogance takes over. 4. Auburn (Hinshaw?) - Pretty upfront about MSRP when I stopped by, but a complete a**hole about it. Incredibly arrogant. 5. Kirkland Honda - pretty bad. sleazy all the way up the "management" chain. typical salesman tricks. sales guy promises the world via email, but is "out" when I come to visit and has me work with the new guy. Lowest trade-in value I've seen. Lowballed me by THOUSANDS less than other dealers. 6. Klein Honda (Everett) - worst of the worst. slimy staff all the way up the chain. plays typical 4-square pricing games. Used car manager went on an "extended" test drive with my trade in and nobody in the dealership could reach him via cell....then they "lost" my keys when he came back. ugh NEVER again! I also had some exchanges with the dealers in Olympia and Burlington and they either wouldn't give pricing info or only quoted MSRP, so I didn't waste time driving.
Purchased 09 Touring 4wd w/RES in Seattle area
by dbcajj on Tue Sep 02 16:57:15 PDT 2008
I purchased about a 1.5 weeks ago from Renton Honda. $34,885 + $50 doc fee, sales tax and license. They threw in wheel locks. I nogociated the deal mostly via email and a few phone calls then went into the dealership to pick a color and sign the paperwork. A excellent experience all in all. I am loving the car so far. I just need to spend more time to figure out all of the bells and whistles.
Re: Boeing strike [imidazol97]

"We're not greedy, we just want a piece of the pie" - Scott Daniels, 41, a facility worker at Boeing's Renton, Wash., plant. That sounds like one of Rocky's UAW lines. Our friend in Wilcox AZ can give us first hand analysis of the way Boeing operates. I look for Boeing to expand their Chinese operations. How hard is it to build an airliner in China and fly it back to the states for delivery? Our standard of living is headed down to meet the rest of the World's coming up. I am surprised we have held off the inevitable as long as we have.
