Re: just traded in my 03 Forester X [psfod3]

When my Geolanders were worn down pretty low with 35K on my xt, I definitely noticed a side to side loss in traction and a pronounced plow in snow or low traction conditions. I soon after put on some Kumho all season tires and my Subie was back in action with superior traction. I don't think it had anything to do with the Brand of tire, they were just new with plenty of tread. Also, Rotating your tires is a must. I am sure we all know the little trick of applying the e-brake to help your car rotate around the corner if you start to plow. I do it occassionaly but can't recommend it, seeing that it depends on speed, conditions, experience, Etc...

That's why I had to drive down to Portland to get my 06 I4 EX-L w/navi. Very rare in that trimline. Although they did have one in Kennewick and another in Moses Lake at the time. :shades: (People outside of Washington state will be going, HUH?) :D
Key sometime won't turn ignition
by missteek on Sun Jul 20 15:09:27 PDT 2008
1996 Pontiac Grand Am, V6 cylinder 3.1 liter, Auto Transmission, 114,000 miles. Hello, sometimes the key will not turn the ignition over. I can pull the key out and turn the key backwards towards the accessory position, but just not to the ignition on position. I have to struggle with the steering wheel, and the tilt, sometimes for quite a while before it will work. I am afraid I might break the key off if I don't get this fixed. Does anyone know what is causing this to happen? Thank you, Linda

Thats true. For the most part they are meter readers, code enforcement, Etc.... I imagine they might need 4wd in some instances with surveying.

Even in my little Podunck town here in Eastern Washington they are using them for municipality vehicles. The two Ford dealers here are grinning from ear to ear.

Msera I work for an Automotive parts warehouse, and one of our customers, a repair facility ran into the same exact problem with a 99 Forester. The customer of mine blames it on the new axles that we get from China, that might be true in this circumstance, but I couldn't confirm it. Most parts stores now sell these axles and are getting away from rebuilts. He bought a new one from the dealer and the vibration went away. Most of these new axles are coming out of the same place in china, so you might want to find a supplier that can get you a rebuilt axle or go to the dealer and get a new one. For the most part these new Chinese axle have been good.
