I got an XLE for $33695 (Silver + DVD Package) Plus Title and Tax from Kirkland Toyota in Seattle, WA. I tried many dealers and finally got the quote from AMEX Auto buying which was $100 more than the invoice price. The same car is sold in VA (Herndon) for $31,000 + TTL. The body molding was too expensive = $395. Not sure how this will help us from scratch and ding. The center seat is not independent like Honda Odyssey. Otherwise I like this car very much...! My transmission has died. Now I have a huge lawn ornament. Volkswagon knew they had a problem on their hands over a year ago and refused to act on it until mid-November. And even with this extended warranty, I have not heard of one case where there are paying for the "valve body" job. They told me that because I drove the car with a failing valve body, I caused more damage to the transmission and that is why it has now ceased. The real problem is they put inferior transmissions into their cars and they are trying to figure out ways to escape responsibility. They are crooks and VW is not standing behind their faulty product since they know it will cost them millions. They are facing a Toyota situation and are doing everything in their power to sidestep liability. I have contacted Brain Ross with ABCNews and hopefully these crooks in Herndon, VA at VW of America will be investigated by the best in the business. I feel for all you out there who have been cheated. An effort needs to be undertaken to reveal the truth. Hard working people here in the States should not have to throw money away because of a bad product that a major corporation won't stand behind.

I fixed my problem by removing and sending the ABS unit to BBA remanufacturing in Taunton, MA. Getting the unit out is a bit tricky, it's very tight in there. It cost about $150 and I have had no problem since. There is a known fault with the unit and these guys fix loads for all sorts of different cars. I found them on ebay would you believe.
