Just Purchased Odyssey from Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge, VA by coachkos33 on Sun Sep 14 04:10:54 PDT 2008

Just bought an Odyssey EXL from Hendrick last night (Sept. 13, 2008)! I've been getting quotes on-line for months from dealers in Maryland and Northern, VA. We were quoted $26,452 OTD in an e-mail. I was dealing with several other Honda dealers in Northern Virginia. Landmark of Alexandria called me non-stop and seemed to be high pressure. On the same day we received the Hendrick quote, Landmark quoted me 28,125 OTD in an e-mail. But when they called me (a minute later, seriuosly), they said they would match Hendrick's price and maybe even beat it. We decided to go to Hendrick b/c they gave us the lowest quote from the get go and appeared very trustworthy. Plus, we've been watching the prices for months and took the recommendation from the posts here that Hendrick Honda had a great reputation for no hassles deals and customer service. Hendrick over any others boasts that they don't play games and there are not gimmicks. They were true to their word. We felt very comfortable and had our best car buying experience. We may have saved a few hundred $$ elsewhere (maybe) but did not want to deal with the sharks at other dealers b/c they always find a way to win. We had an old car to trade-in and got minimal value, but the total deal was worth it. Plus, we took delivery at night in the rain and did not notice a small ding. We called up our salesman on his cell and he was committed to getting it right. We're very happy!

Odyssey EXL with no Res/ no NAV by sharpaxe on Mon Feb 06 06:33:37 PST 2012

I just got this one from Sheehy Honda in Alexandria, VA. The deal is: 30,250 plus tax, processing fee and tag. Processing fee is $495, tax is 3.175%, tag is around $100. This price I believe is very low because the reaction from other dealers I stopped by.

Re: Hope this GW slows down before we all [steve_] by gagrice on Tue Jan 31 08:01:39 PST 2012

Generally Snow machiners dress warmer than XC skiers. When it gets up to zero a mask is too warm and the humidity to high. Snow is better below zero as well. What was interesting is 20 below in MN was much colder feeling than 20 below in Anchorage area. I remember in the early 1980s, I would go from 40 below in Deadhorse to 20 below in Minnesota and freeze my butt off. Looking at the current temp in Alexandria MN it is 33 degrees and 94% humidity. That is very uncomfortable weather. Not to mention making the roads horrible to drive on if there is any snow left. Give me a warm rain in Hilo any day over most anyplace I have been. So far this GW is a bust. Our last 3 summers have been much below normal. Daytime temps this fall and winter are below normal. The strange part is overnight temps are above normal. I am used to winter temp swings from 28 overnight to 80 during the day. We are only swinging from 45-65 night and day. Very strange indeed. Some of my Plumeria still have their leaves. Still getting tomatoes. Much slower growing though.

A friend of mine will be shopping for a Volvo (hers is going on 15 years old, and she thinks it's time for a new one), but probably not until fall. That would be too late for this reporter, no doubt. Pity because she HATES car shopping and could really use the help.

Re: Up in the air> [lemko] by andys120 on Wed Jan 11 05:27:47 PST 2012

Yup those are M4 General Sherman medium tanks, modified for some purose hence the odd looking turret and attachments but the shape of the hull and the track/bogey arrangement is unmistakable> Some Shermans saw early action in Korea but they were obsolete by the time of the photo (1953) and had been replaced by the M47 Patton as the Army's main battle tank. I have no explanation of why these were at the Port of Milwaukee apparently being loaded or unloaded to this freighter. Factoid- 500 Shermans shipped to Alexandria, Egypt in late 1942 were said to have been instrumental in Montgomery's victory over the Afrika Korps at El Alamein. The M4 was competitive with German tanks at this stage of WWII but as Lemko pointed out later German tanks like the Panther and Tiger were far superior and the Shermans prevailed by weight of numbers.
