Magnum-Mercedes similarities
by realtc214 on Mon Sep 08 14:26:05 PDT 2008
I too was told by a mechanic at a station that I take my Intrepid R/T to, that the Magnum is based on the E Mercedes and the transmission is the Mercedes 4-matic. I have not driven a Mercendes in over 15 years, but I let a friend drive mine ('06 Magnum R/T AWD) and he said it felt very much like the Mercedes he's owned and others that were recent models that he's driven. I suscribe to Consumer Reports and have seldom if ever seen a Mercedes recommended as a good buy due to the bad history of things breaking down in them. That is what scares me about the Magnum. Other that that, I love the way it rides and handles and the power and comfort. Now, if it can be as dependable as my Intrepid has been at 85,000 miles.
Re: Light colored leather issue [budh]

Well, I have the 07 with the gray leather. After a year and 16,000 miles, it looks pretty much like new. I've used leather cleaner once. Unfortunately, I got bleach on one of the back floor mats (don't ask) the first week I owned the car and am sort of just living with it. I did buy a cheap set of black floor mats and am using them on top of the gray ones--mostly to hide the bleach spot (!) but they also have kept the carpet in pretty good shape. Anyone want to get rid of a passenger side back seat gray floormat? :)

Do you know what was involved in disconnecting? Is it as simple as pulling a fuse? Knowing my dealer, they will charge to disconnect and reconnect. Thanks.
Hot Seats 07 Azera

I'm almost positive the seat heater on the drivers side is on, even tho it is set to "0." I remember reading a post on this but don't recall any solution. Is this a common problem and has anyone solved it? My dealer is clueless and tells me it's all in my mind but I don't think so. Thanks.
15,000 and all is well

Not quite a year and nearly 15,000 miles and all is well. Drove from VA to Minnesota and back, lots of medium trips to NC and no problems. On long trips can get up to 30 mpg and low 20's around town. I'm pretty happy with that. Wish car absorbed road bumps like my old Avalon but am convinced no car (that I'll be able to afford) will ever be that comfortable. Love the sunshade--who knew I needed one? Am a bit concerned that seat heater is coming on but will have to investigate further.
