2001 QX4 Oil Leak
by wawrzyng1 on Fri Jan 19 08:10:33 PST 2007
I just purchased this vehicle from a large Acura dealership. After sitting in the garage for about a week, I noticed a "oil slick" under the right front area of the engine. My local mechanic thinks it is the oil cooler. Before replacing the cooler,he ordered two O rings and hopefully that corrects the problem. Has anyone else had this happen? So far, I really like the SUV. It has many luxury features, drives great and the engine has lots of power. THANKS!

I have a question about the catalytic converters on a J80. What are the consequences if one or both are not operating effectively? My "check engine light" is on and the code says the problem is with the catalytic converter. What type of converter is on this model (1996)? Thanks in advance.

I once owned a 97 F250 7.3 POWERSTROKE that would CUT OUT at any time or speed. (A very scary two days) I asked one of the mechanics at work (we run Internationals in our Ford newspaper delivery trucks) and he immediately said it was the CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. He went to stock, got a sensor, gave me a socket and ratchet, told me it was LOCATED on the FRONT OF THE BLOCK, and ten minutes later that motor never cut out again. I hope this helps... Dear Bigmike,      Two weeks ago our neighborhood in Scituate, Ma. got hit with golf size hail I had never seen here before in my life. I was home at the time and got my new Dodge Magnum (three days old)in the garage before any bad damage but three dings on the car will cost $305 to repair. My 300M was outside at a body shop one mile away and got $450 worth of damage. Some cars in my neighborhood were totaled. There was a tornado warning in Marshfield, the town just south of us.       I haven't run that fast since high school to get the new car in the garage since the hail started small and just became larger and larger. My local area looked like a hurricane hit for the fourth of July weekend.          They have had quite a few national companies here doing work and the local body shops are swamped. Damage was alot worse than what their computer models predicted.
New 2003 LC
by wawrzyng1 on Thu Feb 05 13:23:47 PST 2004
FYI. I read this board regularly and there have been inquiries as to the availability of new LC's. I have been buying and servicing my Toyota vehicles for the past 20 years at Mark Motors, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. I noticed that they have a brand new LC for sale.
Oil Leaks?
by wawrzyng1 on Tue Oct 07 10:01:05 PDT 2003
I just heard from the local Toyota dealer that the rear main engine oil seal must be changed. I have a 1996 LX450 with 96K. The cost will be $980. This same dealership changed two other seals within the past 3-4months to stop oil leaks. I did not notice any leaks until recently since they changed the other seals. Any thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
