Re: Was this a good deal [changingtide]

"No I did contact them and they are NOT offering a $2,000.00 rebate or loyalty credit. Their OTD price was $16,900.00 after the rebate and dealer discount. Brad Benson beat them by almost $1,500.00, Towne beat them by $800.00. " Well, I found this very hard to believe as they ARE advertising in the newspaper EVERY day. And when I read this yesterday I called up the salesman who took care of me and he said you must have misunderstood as the $2000 rebate comes off the $16,900. And also, they would have knocked the price down to $16000 and then taken off the $2000 if you had gone there in person. Hey....what do I know.... we got 2 for $14000. And evidently you didn't pay attention to them. And they are offering the rebate. I don't know who you spoke to but you didn't speak to the right person. If you had posted Suresky said the price was higher then what I quoted I would have called my salesman up and asked him if true. I know what they are offering as I live local and don't have to call from another state. :P

If you in the NJ area check out Brad Benson. I ended up paying appx. 15,400.00 OTD for the same car less the floor mats. They had several blue Elantra's on the lot when visited.

You are right the prices have gone up a couple hundred plus the rebate is only 1,000.00 instead of 2,000.00 as it was in June. I ended up getting the Elantra with A/T and popular equip (no sunroof) for 15,400 OTD at Brad Benson. My first Elantra was 13,500 OTD but that included a trade-in (750.00) which I failed to mention in my earlier message. I still ended up paying more for the car than I did in June but the base price the dealer gave me didn't change, just the lack of a trade in and rebate. I contacted Towne and the best they could do was 16,100.00 OTD for the same car. I also contacted two other dealers, one refused to give me a price unless I came in the other was slightly above Towne.
What's up with these dealers?

Today I test drove the Genesis 6v for the first time and was totaly impressed. I would rank the vehicle up there with any of the cars in the class. Unfortunately, there were no cars available to drive with the navi option. Upon returning to the dealership ( Brad Benson, New Jersey) I had a chance to look more carefully at the window sticker and was amazed to find a " price adjustment" of $ 5,000. The salesman seemed not to find this unusual, and even told me I should be grateful, since he had heard that other dealers were charging even more ! The 35k sticker was now 40k ( that's without navi, which I am told would add 5k to the car). I walked out after being told that the lease would be in the $ 650 range. Hyundai had better rein in these dealers or they will miss a golden chance...... Ed

Regarding my Genesis experience at Brad Benson's Hyundai in N.J. , I also had the opportunity to check out the M35x, Lexus G and other cars of that class. I have to say that my time at these dealerships, by and large, was enjoyable and informative. They were, except Audi, prepared to do anything to make a deal and move their metal. Their loan rates were as low as 0.9% for 72 mos... Each and every salesperson was knowledgeable about the vehicle I was looking at. The Sales Manager at Hyundai did not even know the grade of gas the Genesis uses ! He was helpful, however, in admitting that Hyundai's rate was very high and suggested I take a home equity line instead... He really said that ! I love the car, but I keep thinking I will have to put up with the Hyundai dealer network if I get it....
