Re: 2008 GS350 RWD or AWD in PA [hchan]

Yes, I contacted them through their internet department (just did a sales inquiry from their website and they called me back). You will have to talk to them on the phone for pricing though since they don't email you the quotes. Bill Barton is the sales guy I was talking to. For my purchase, I paid $48,100+TTL for an MSRP of $53000, but i didn't purchase through Prestige. Prestige's best quote to me was $47,500+TTL for an MSRP of $52450. Again, this was back in December, so you might be able to get a better deal on this car from them right now.

Sorry grosloup. I wasn't making fun of you. That's why I included the smiley with my post. For a Frenchman, you speak excellent English. I know a few French words, but my favorite 2 words are Barton & Guestier. I fell in love with their Cabernet many years ago and still think it is one of the best wines ever produced.

I have a '98 Forester and work in DC, so I think I'm uniquely qualified to answer that question. Mine has averaged 25 mpg in its lifetime, though yours is an auto the EPA ratings are actually higher. It's a comfortable vehicle, you may even want to splurge and get a model with heated seats, since it gets cold in DC, and you also get heated mirrors to melt away the ice and even keep them clear in the rain. Ride is good, and the wheel travel is great for pot-holes. I take Canal Road and the Clara Barton Parkway and the pavement is in poor condition due to the snow/ice, so I've been using the Forester instead of my Miata that I use primarily in the summer. Maintenance is like any other vehicle, the only difference with AWD is that you have a rear differential that needs its oil changed every 30k or so (60k at most). Not a big deal, just 2 bolts to remove, one quart of 75w90 oil that you can get at the local parts store for a couple of bucks. e-mail me and I'll give you some more details. Use my handle and then add @ifc.org to the end of it. I think you'll be happy with one. -juice
Land Cruiser

This will make you even more mad, then - my dad headed up a field office for a large bank in Suriname (later in Belize), and they'd order UN-spec Land Cruisers, I mean vinyl seats, diesel engines, manual trannys. Any how, the funny thing was these vehicles cost around US$22k delivered (with insurance and even spare parts). So it's funny to see a Lexus badge and a $70k price tag. They're paying more than triple for the same truck wearing a tux. Saw a new Jetta today - it had just rear ended a car and caused a big backup on the Clara Barton Pkwy. -juice
Re: "Omitted" Streets [mdchachi]

mdchachi -- Thx for the tip re Toyota navs and enabling "time restricted streets." Unfortunately, I've been through all the setup screens for my 2004 TSX (with 2005 DVD update) and can see no such option for my Acura system. Still no way that I know of to get the system to "see" Rock Creek Parkway, Canal Road, Clara Barton and the other reversing commuter routes in the DC area.
Q for the moderator
by jrynn on Sun May 15 10:37:24 PDT 2005
Mod -- What's the right forum to post a question in about the Acura (TSX) DVD database? I'm trying to figure out whether Acura/Alpine deliberately left out many of the major commuting roads in the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia area (e.g., Rock Creek Parkway, Canal Road, Clara Barton Parkway). They were missing on the DVD that came with the TSX when I bought it, and they are missing on the DVD update I just bought (but may return).
