.. **Hi- Raleigh, NC 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended Cab (4 door - the 2 rear are swing out) 5.3L V-8 w/Automatic transmission 4WD (Z-71 Package) 41,000 miles [Color] Pewter Exterior / Dark Grey Cloth Interior [Options] 4WD w/Auto trac, Z-71 Offroad, Factory Towing Package, Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors, Cruise, Tilt, Running Boards and Tonneau Cover, AM/FM/CD, Privacy Glass [Condition] Interior is basically spotless. Exterior: This is what will kill me probably, has had 3 incidents - All when I wasn't even in the car. Front plastic air dam has 2 broken mounting tabs. Rear bumper was replaced and tailgate painted when wife backed into neighbors car as they both were backing out at the same time. The biggest, is the left rear panel of the pickup bed was totally replaced when GMC DEALER hit a light pole in their parking lot while it was in for service. Stupid kid floored it on wet pavement and the back end swung out and hit the pole. [TIRES] 2 front have about 10,000 miles left. Rear are fine for at least another 20,000. Thanks in advance. ====================================== Did someone mention golf ....?? ... did I hear the "swiiiiish" of a 460cc carbon driver smacking the heck out of a 430 dimple ball.? .. did I hear that sweet sound of a #4 hybrid iron whaling that little sucker 200 yrds and hitting the fringe of the green and rolling inside of 3 ft of the pin ... no.?? .. then lets talk car stuff .... Raleigh ....? .. about 50 miles north of Pinehurst ..l.o.l... I don't have any particular order of answering anything ... between my accordion lessons, getting into the Nationals with the Dog Dancing thing and getting my ballet shoes ready for the Christmas pageant I get tied-up ... so always REPOST, it's a good thing .. besides all that, I have the attention span of an aspharugus .... hmmm, what was I talkin' about.?? 3 accidents ...? .. have you thought about dropping it off at one of the parking lots at Duke with the keys in it...? lots of bad Karma here ...... it's an 01 GMC Sierra half-ton Ecab SLE 4wd with 41k and some doors ... we got the Z package, auto, no hydes - no help, boards, cover, tunes, solar glass, good color combo and it's little light in the rubber department, but it probably weighs an extra 200lbs with all of the paint work ..l.o.l... hard to put a figure on this without really seeing it ... But ~ "Depending" on the finish work (and let's be honest, they don't shoot trucks like they shoot a Porsche) I wouldn't worry about the airdam, but get it fixed .... trade side, in and around the super tall $13's low/mid $14's ..... the 5.3 V8, the 4wd and the low miles save this one - hopefully .. Don't forget to let me know ......... Terry. ;)

"For the folks that live in Chicago, the most expensive gas I've ever seen is being sold at the Amoco at Clark and Lasalle streets on the near North side. Premium there can run up to $2.50. There is also for a Mobil in Hyde Park on 55th Street that is equally ridiculous. The Clark and Lasalle streets station just happens to be the only one around for a few miles in any direction. Hmmmmmmmmm" It's a captive market. The same thing happens here in the Buckhead section of Atlanta. There is a BP station on Peachtree Rd across from Phipps Plaza that is the only gas station for a couple of miles in either direction and they are way higher than everyone else. Hmmmmmm.

I can't really speak from personal experience to all the other dealers in the Chicago area (live in Denver now), but Libertyville up on the far north side is head and shoulders above the rest from what I've gathered from others on this board. Sent my dear old Mom there to buy a base Impreza wagon last year, and they treated her like royalty. Really. She was thrilled. They're also the only top ranked dealer listed in the last Drive magazine in Illinois. Excellent reputation for service as well. It would be a hike for you from Hyde Park, but doable. Chicago is a big place. I'd keep them in mind should any difficult issues come up, anyway. Hope this helps, -brianV

I know where he is located, Cottage St. is in a bad section of town, sorta run down area. U.S. Navy used to have their reserve base there not sure if they still do or not anymore. Enjoy while your there, if you have time to sight see go to Hyde Park (about 4 miles north on Rt. 9) and see the Roosevelt or Vanderbilt Estates, Culinary Institute of America is also along Rt. 9 too. Have fun in Atlantic City, don't bet your truck away hahaha! Weather for this friday doesn't sound good but we bought advance tickets so we're still go'in to the race track, I got a 28' trailer w/awning and all the food/drink I'll need so we be ready to party hardy!! Jeep Problems???
by smgilles on Thu Feb 14 12:39:26 PST 2002
As found on Yahoo news... Chrysler Recalls 1.6 Million SUVs Thu Feb 14, 1:54 PM ET By Justin Hyde DETROIT (Reuters) - Chrysler is recalling about 1.6 million Jeep Grand Cherokees to fix what hundreds of owners say is a tendency in the sport utility vehicles to roll backward even when their transmissions are set in "park," the carmaker said on Thursday. Chrysler, an arm of DaimlerChrysler AG , denied any responsibility for the problem, saying driver error was the most likely cause. Federal regulators said the company's move would not end their inquiry into a wider range of Grand Cherokees linked to 364 crashes, 159 injuries and five deaths. Chrysler said it had found no defect that could cause the problem, but would recall the vehicles anyway to appease concerns from regulators and customers, some of whom have sued. Federal investigators have said the automaker contended most of the problems stemmed from owners getting out of the vehicle while it was still running. The recall covers 1993 through 1998 model year Grand Cherokees in North America. Chrysler said it would install a device inside the floor shifter to help ensure the vehicle's transmission is placed firmly in park. Chrysler also gave customers several tips to ensure their vehicles were in park, including removing the key from the ignition when leaving the vehicle. "We're confident this recall will be resolved based on our actions," said Chrysler spokeswoman Angela Spencer Ford. But Tim Hurd, a spokesman for the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (news - web sites), said its investigation would remain open while it reviews data from Chrysler. In addition to the vehicles recalled, the NHTSA's investigation also covers Grand Cherokees made starting in 1999, which Chrysler said had a different transmission design. DaimlerChrysler's shares were down 62 cents at $37.79 in Thursday afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange (news - web sites). One class-action lawsuit is already pending against Chrysler over the problem. Some attorneys and investigators had claimed the Grand Cherokee's transmission was designed so that it would indicate it was in park even though it was actually halfway between park and reverse. In November, the NHTSA said one of its investigators was able to replicate the problem on a Grand Cherokee three times. Chrysler claimed the government had gone to unusual lengths to test the vehicle, and said any vehicle might be susceptible to the problem under the agency's conditions. Hurd said the NHTSA had asked other automakers for data about any similar problems they had observed. The NHTSA so far had found that among 23 SUVs, the rate of rollaway complaints for the Grand Cherokee was five times greater than for any other automaker's SUV, and four times greater than for the Dodge Durango. Sean Kane, head of Strategic Safety, an Arlington, Virginia-based vehicle safety research firm, said automakers often offer to recall vehicles as a way of avoiding embarrassing information coming to light in an NHTSA inquiry. "I'm glad to hear DaimlerChrysler is taking this action because there's a whole host of people who have been injured," he said. "Be good... or be good at it!"
