Re: Beware of "Lexus of Rockville Center" [phillipson]
by enigma2 on Sat Aug 30 10:19:07 PDT 2008
If you have complaints about this dealership, don't hesitate to file a complaint with the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection. It's a county government office. Others have already filed complaints with this agency against Lexus of Rockville. Some of the investigators are better than others, but I've heard that getting a bad record with this agency is effective. Lexus of Rockville is the worst car dealership I've ever encountered.
small electric problem 90' Dakota
by today on Tue Mar 04 10:39:49 PST 2008
Hi , I have a 90' dodge dakota 4 cyl. pickup. going 50 miles an hour and just stops running. No spark plug fire. No spark from coil center line. Distributor coupler disconnect - cross lines 2 an 3 and no spark from coil. Coil is good. check for open in lines 2 and 3, good to comp. Negative line from computer to coil is positive charge 12 volt when ignition is on, no charge on the positive line to the coil. When ignition is turned on a charge of voltage is measured in meter at distributor coupler line number 1 orange- then goes away. Why no spark? Why positive charge on negative line to Coil? Why does charge on line 1 go away? Coil good. Lines clear. Battery good 12 volt. Fuel pump good with fuel. Today Montgomery in the woods
New (to me) engine
by tbragg44 on Thu Jan 31 04:25:03 PST 2008
Well my replacement engine arrived yesterday. When initially contacted, the salvage yard said it was a 48,000 mile engine. My first look tells me, NO WAY!" They steam cleaned it pretty well, but missed some pretty large grease deposits, the heater hose connections have a pretty thick residue of decomposing rubber around the tips, and the timing cover bolts are covered with surface rust. My old engine had 125K on it, and those bolts still have the olive-green look of a new bolt. Also, they ground off the left and right case serial numbers, as well as the number stamped into the top center of the block. Is this typical of buying a used engine? Or is the salvage yard trying to hide something or prevent me from getting the background info about this engine? Have I been had? :lemon: ? TB

Actually they accept laptop batteries for recycling here at work, even stuff from outside. It's not hard to find places. I believe Montgomery County, MD, also takes them at their Recycling Center.
2008 Accord test drive
by jlindh on Sun Sep 30 16:36:45 PDT 2007
My wife and I went to see and test drive the 2008 Accord yesterday. In my opinion, the car is much, much more attractive than the model it replaces. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but IMHO, you'd have to be half blind to like the old body style. Nice comfortable seats, taut ride, and a smooth engine. My wife thought the center stack looked "industrial". I know it has too many controls for her. Here's my question.... The salesman told me that Honda has it's own (separate) GPS satellite which also updates the nav data base at no cost to the consumer. I'm guessing he's either ignorant or shining me, any comments?
Re: Any of you have the Infinity Surround Sound? [allmet33]
by jlindh on Tue Jun 19 11:17:44 PDT 2007
My understanding of surround sound is that there is discrete information for the front, center, surround, and subwoofer speakers. If that discrete information is not encoded on the CD (it isn't on a "normal" CD), I have a hard time understanding how the new Azera radio is going to output surround sound unless it is somehow synthesized within the unit. Perhaps someone with more technical knowledge could explain how this works.
