Rablaw, We used Peter Wendell at Paul Miller Audi in Parsippany, NJ. Based on him making good on an error and giving us an $858 refund out of his own pocket, I'd definitely trust him to buy a car from him again. We've known Peter since before he was a salesman (he came from the Service Dept). For service...well, we had not been particularly happy with Paul Miller circa ~2004, but this is a dated experience. Peter has said that they've gotten better; we will see, at the car's 5K checkup in ~6 months. For genuine OEM Dealership, I've heard very good things from a coworker advocating Audi of Mendham, NJ, but I haven't tried them yet myself to verify how they do. I expect that we'll give Paul Miller a chance (5K service) and if it isn't stellar, perhaps go try Mendham the next time we absolutely must have a dealership touch the car. Otherwise, the place we've been going for Audi service for the past ~5 years has been Foreign Aid in Mendham; the owner "Kenny" has implicitly earned our trust. For Mercedes, I didn't care for the salesman at MB of Morristown, nor that he lied to me about document processing (claimed that a buyer couldn't go to DMV to get his own plates). So I went to MB of Newton, NJ; the salesman was Reid [something] ... Ried was easy to deal with. Unfortunately, this is probably a very long haul for you from Bargain/Passaic/Essex. For MB service, Newton has been good, although a bit inconvenient and of course MB Expensive. As such, I've been trying a local independent garage (Felipe at Precision Auto Center; Rt 46 West, Rockaway NJ). So far, he's done well enough for fairly routine work and has done a "make it good at my expense" on one item, so I'll continue to go there for now...it helps that he's only 5 minutes from home. Finally, for all "wheels" stuff, I've been using Eurotire in Fairfield, NJ (on Rt 46 East) for 20+ years. I've known the current owner Bill Bloomfield since he was an employee there, which is more than just a few years ago now. Eurotire used to mostly do just tires, rims, balancing, allignments and shocks/struts, but now also does brakes, CV/drive axles, 4-corner weight balancing, etc, etc. Bill is a significant supporter of the local Porsche Club (PCA) chapter of Northern NJ and he often volunteers/donates his shop for Tech Inspections, etc. He's a genuine enthusiast worth supporting who does high quality work, is always honest with you, a good value, and is very flexibile in working with your needs. <a href="http://www.eurotire.com/" -hh

So far, 2008 has been a dismal for Honda. Yes, I know, it's only January I don't think that is short supply. Also, in my area (Fairfield County, CT), people don't really have liquid cash. It's all invested. 1. it's just a little ol' prediction that 2008 will be good for Honda. 2. People in Fairfield are in BMW and MB terriority. Accords are bought for the hired help. It's like citing an example of car ownership in the one block in Beverly Hills with $50M homes and extrapolating that to the world. 3. I would rather live rich than die rich.

Near Fairfield. A friend of mine works at the Land Rover dealership down there but it is a couple of hours south and east of me.

ging & awiseone, In the Bay area? East Bay? Oakland is not as agressive. The dealer in Concord and Pleasnton are of the same ownership. the Fairfield dealer is as good as any.. Typical pursuit is to have your infor and finance ready. In the 2 dealers of Concord and Pleasanton, you'll be able to secure a deal @ 500 over invoice, get you accesories at cost. Be careful about you info on what the true cost is however. The Fairfield internet dealer will get you to 300 over invoice without any effort plus he'll get you the accesoories @ cost. He was the one that emailed me the cost of the accesoories. That was great knowledge to have in my pocession. With my knowledge walking into the dealer, I walked out with:200 over invoice with side molding, roof rack ($532), Tow Pkg ($912), Sport running boards ($567). I went in with my email printed from the other dealer as proof of another deal.

I knew we wouldn't get it at invoice (that was expected) my concern was that the only real deals I saw listed on this site was on the EAST COAST. We paid invoice + $1000 and this included destination in addition to the roof rails & cross bars. No other dealer in the area came close to this...even Superior Acura in Fairfield, Ohio which is where we have purchased a vehicle before.

My last ticket was actually on US-1 in Fairfield. I got nailed doing 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. If you're familiar with it, it's the part of the road in Southport that opens up into a semi-highway for a stretch. That's a favorite enforcement spot for the Fairfield police, as I learned.... Oh, man. That is Speed Trap 101, especially east (north) bound coming down off the bridge over the turnpike. Hugely wide lanes, nice downhill grade, one of the few areas of the Post Road that's not choked with traffic/commercial areas on either side. . . All of those ritzy towns on the Sound usually go a little overboard with the police reaction. In Westport, at least, I almost always see two cruisers responding to any traffic-related incident.
