wouldn't want a place right in Burlington but something within 20 minutes of it The "Five Spice" in Burlington is a great Asian restaurant. And visiting Shelburne Farms on a sunny day is fantastic. Of course if you went further out from Burlington you could get 10-20 acres if you really wanted. I looked at some houses in Brattleboro a few months ago. Brattleboro gets great reviews, but for me, I didn't really "get it". If you've never seen Woodstock VT, would be well worth a trip or detour. One of the most beautiful towns on the planet, IMO.

Burlington, VT is incredible. The lake, the everything. Have you been to Henry's Diner? R.E. Prices in Burlington are very high, even for N.E., tho, right? Stow is nice too (duh). Whenever I have been up to Burlington I just go wherever my BIL takes me so I don't think we have been there yet. We have been to the Flatbread place which I like and to a little hole in the wall for Dim Sum(sp?) plus a few other places over the years. Ideally I would rather have a spot of bare land in the one acre or so range to build either a log cabin style house or post and beam style. I wouldn't want a place right in Burlington but something within 20 minutes of it would be good. I can drive in park wherever and walk around anywhere in the city pretty quickly. Maybe in Shelburne I don't know exactly as I haven't been to enough areas around the city to know for sure.
LR2 2008

Brought ours at The Automaster in Shelburne, Vermont. Best dealership around, in our opinion. We've purchased three cars from them in five years - a Freelander HSE, a SuperCharged Range Rover, and now the LR2. And judging by the number assigned to the car out of the factory, I have the first LR2 manufactured for the US market! We paid roughly $39500 for it, loaded with every package available as well as mud flaps, wood interior trim kit, driving lamps, cargo nets, rub strips, and (as soon as its available) luggage rack. I love it, but then I'm a Rover fan. My dream car is an old Defender! lol

I'm curious just how much gas you had in your tank at the time the problem occurred. Do you have any idea?. The reason I ask is that I have a 2005 XC70 (10 months old/4700 miles) and I experienced a very similar problem twice a few months ago and it turned out to be (1) faulty fuel pump but was also exacerbated by (2) low fuel in the tank (3) the design of the saddle (auxiliary) fuel tank that Volvo employs. In both cases, I was traveling at a relatively slow speed, 30mph and decelerating for a traffic light. The first time I had approximately six gallons of gas in the tank, and was decelerating to stop for a traffic light. The second time I had approximately three gallons of gas in the tank and the "low fuel warning" light was just starting to flicker. In both cases, and without any warning, I had no steering and no power breaks while the car was still moving. In both cases, the "Check Engine Light" came on and remained on until the following morning, approximately sixteen hours after the event. In both cases, the light went off within a few minutes of starting the car. When I explained the situation to the service person at the dealership (Al Martin Volvo in in Shelburne, Vermont) they had never experienced a case such as this but they were reasonably certain that the fuel pump was the culprit. Apparently what was happening is this: for whatever reason, Volvo employs a "auxiliary" fuel tank, sometimes referred to as a saddle tank. When the main tank is empty it should seamlessly switch over to the auxiliary tank without the driver even being aware of it. In my case, what was happening was when the main tank was empty it would not switch to the auxiliary tank and I would theoretically "run out of gas". The service manager suggested that I avoid ever letting my fuel level get to the point where the low fuel warning light would come on thereby reducing the possibility of this happening again. Instead, for my next three tanks of gas, I drove the car until it had approximately one gallon of gas left in the tank, thereby proving their diagnosis of a faulty fuel pump. Given Volvo's reputation and after spending $50,000 for this car I'm not quite sure what to think. I'm surely beginning to question Volvo's "reliability" as well as safety. In both of those cases, less than two minutes before the car stalled, I had been driving at 70mph in the passing lane in bumper-to-bumper rush-hour traffic on the interstate. Had either of these events occurred while I was on the interstate, I (my car) would have been the cause of a multi-car pile up and who knows how many deaths and/or injuries would have occurred.
fair (reasonable) price for Accord LX 05 model w/ Auto Transmission
by greenmt on Wed Aug 10 10:03:27 PDT 2005
Hi, I plan to buy a Accord LX 05 model w/ Auto Transmission soon. For my area (Shelburne, VT, zip: 05482), the "target price" at Carsdirect.com is $18,334. Below is the price quote I got from a local dealer: Sales price: $18,800(Destination fee included) Tax: $1132 (6% in VT) Title fee: $15 Registration: $50 Documentation fee: $75 ---------------------- Grand total: $20,079 I definitely feel that $20,079 is way high. Could anyone here please offer me a clue about what's a fair(reasonable) price I should try to seek? Thank you very much!

Just happened to notice that when I use the windshield washer (XLS) the ol' wipers go swish-swish then stop for a couple of seconds then come back on for one last wipe to get that aggravating last bit of washer fluid that always seemed to want to run right down the middle of the windshield! Nice touch. :D
