Re: How many speeds are enough? [1487]
by bpizzuti on Thu May 24 11:39:12 PDT 2007
Vue has a 5 speed with the V6. Um...what was that you were telling me? The new VUE V6 comes standard with a SIX speed on both V6 engines. ;) Now, let's get back to "they're coming." Has it been announced which tranny the new Malibu will have? I haven't heard anything yet, but considering Saturn is a slightly more premium brand than Chevy, they may keep the 4 speed in the Malibu to differentiate the models and justify the Aura's higher price tag. Just a possibility mind you: like I said, I haven't heard anything definite one way or the other. Nor have I heard anything about the Cobalt or HHR getting anything other than a 4 speed (or the Aveo, come to think of it). Want an advantage over newly #1 Toyota? Put 6 speeds in the suckers before they do. PEOPLE won't know about it unless DEALERS tell them and MANUFACTURERS advertise it...which is why GM has to A: do it, and B: communicate it. You're right about most people not knowing, but if they don't know/don't care, then what's the point of developing a 6 speed automatic transmission? So it has to be both done, and communicated, through advertising and through dealer selling-points, otherwise the investment is wasted money. Me, being Joe Consumer, shouldn't have to LOOK for GM ads, or be assured they're there. If I'm not seeing the ads, it means they're not reaching a significant portion of the audience. This is a major problem, especially since I watch a lot of TV: Fox News, FOX, CNN, NBC, CBS (well, maybe not now that they've canceled Jericho), ESPN, TNT, et cetra. So either they're spending their ad money wrong or they're shortchanging their marketing department. Or their ads aren't memorable enough to create a brand identity that lasts in people's minds, which is even worse. BTW, I've seen GM do plenty of "silly" things. A 5 cylinder truck, canceling the Camaro, making the Aztek....never discount the silliness of a major corporation. :P
Whistling windshield fix
by jericho on Wed Apr 25 20:13:05 PDT 2007
I bought a 2006 Hemi Limited in Decmeber 2006. No problems until approx 4,000 mi. While on a trip, a whistling noise started on the driver's side front area at about 60+ mph. It seemed to occur only after the weather got warmer. I took it to the dealer and told them to leave it in the sun before checking. The technicians heard it upon test driving. After a TSB check showed nothing. They placed tape all along the front windshield and slowly removed sections. The noise showed up. The dealer had the windshield removed and resealed. Problem solved. Love the car. Very fast! No tickets yet!
Huntington Honda, NY 11743 Got Cheated by the dealer - Very Bad Experience
by earthinghuman on Thu Oct 19 13:14:26 PDT 2006
:lemon: Consumer can help by bringing Justice to the public and informing that they do not fall victim to tricks of the Honda car dealership. I bought a brand new Honda Odyssey Car from Huntington Honda 1055 E Jericho Turnpike, Huntington, NY 11743. I ordered few accessories 1) cross bar 2) fog light 3) all season mats 4) cargo board 5) backup sensor. I had made the decision after extensive research from Honda Website, Edmunds, KBB and other sources. When I got my car I was very unhappy to find that the backup sensor was not what I ordered was shown on the Honda Website. The Honda Site showed there were 4 sensors and they were color matched to the vehicle's color. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/luvishminkey/album?.dir=a09are2&.src=ph&store=&pro- did=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/luvishminkey/my_photos http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/luvishminkey/my_photos Called the dealership and went through a very very rough time to get it fixed. The dealer gave a very hard time to get it fixed. They did not inform me nor had my approval to install after market backup sensor. I was kept in dark and they installed the after market part. Instead of apologizing for the mistake and correcting right away, the sales person said this is how the dealership made money. When I insisted that this was not I ordered and that the sensor should be color matching the color of the vehicle , they offered to remove the part spray paint it to match the color of the vehicle and put it back. On my persistence that there are supposed to be 4 sensors as shown on the Honda Site and that the one they installed had only 2 sensors. They had nothing to say. They said they cannot help. I had to open up a case with the Honda Manufacturer, Dispute partial amount that I paid with the credit card, Open up a FTC case , Opened up a case with Consumer affairs. Only after going through all this hassle, pain, wasting so much time, stress did I get the backup sensor corrected. I did not order an after market part, nor was I ever informed that they would install an after market part. The sale of contract clearly states about the accessories and no where does it mentions that they are after market parts. I went to the Honda Dealership because I had confident and had faith in Honda that they would not fraud a customer. The Honda Dealership should have apologized for the Deceptive Trade Practice they have indulged as per New York State http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/nycodes/c44/a46.html ARTICLE 22-A CONSUMER PROTECTION FROM DECEPTIVE ACTS AND PRACTICES Section 349. Deceptive acts and practices unlawful. http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/nycodes/c44/a56.html My case is similar to Levitsky v. SG Hylan Motors on page 40 of the following file http://www.nysba.org/Content/Microsites67/Torts,_Insurance_and_Compensation_Law_- Section1/Committees31/Class_Action/Consumer_Law_Update_2005/Consumer_Law_2005_Up- date.pdf I did not expect this from a Reputed Car manufacturer and good dealership that I had heard about Huntington Honda until I experienced the dilemma to be duped for a few hundred dollars on a car more than $35k and the hassle that I had to go through to get it fixed. And on top of it being told that I did not order a genuine Honda part. LOL ha ha ha . Why does a customer go to Honda Dealer for? Don't they go there to get a genuine Honda parts? Should the dealership have installed aftermarket part without my knowledge, Consent and Agreement? A very unhappy customer duped by Reputable Honda and Honda Dealer of Huntington , NY 11743

Normally the longer a dealer has a car, the lower the price will get. After the holdback has been used, normally after 90 days, the car is costing money every day it is kept in inventory. in time they might even take a loss on it just to get it out of the floor plan. sometimes supply and demand might throw a kink in this.
Surfcaster si, surfer no
by brianbm on Thu Feb 27 16:53:36 PST 2003
Hey, lepore, anyone who plays in the water is a brother. I don't surf, I surfcast - no boards, the preferred toy of choice is a Scott STS 10 weight flyrod or a Lamiglas 132-2 with a Penn Mag GS 525. Covers the spectrum from #6 hooks to three ounce plugs. bpeebles, I drag a niece & nephew with me whenever my sister will let me steal her kids. This is maybe a little silly, since I see the kids 8X a year at most, but uncle-ing is such fun, I gotta be able to drag the kids with me. I do have a fishing buddy but he's rediscovering his teenaged self in a rock band (everybody has a belly and no hair, but they sound pretty good) so lately it's mostly me, or me + sisters' kids. I haven't seen a bench seat yet that was fit for more then a midget and more then ten minutes,so will avoid an extended cab design in whatever I buy. I don't know if the total length of the available space, cattycornered from the passengers' seat to the diagonal far corner of the cargo box, is that different from the Quad Cab to the Extended Cab with a longer box. That's something I have to find a QC to check out. Lepore, the similarity in gas mileage between the QC and the Tacoma is surprising. I scratched that one off the list because it felt so bleepin' small when I sat in it, like getting into underwear two sizes too small. DEFINITELY designed for Japanese behinds. bpeebles, that Dakota shifter into 4WD - is that automatic/push button or manual? I ask because twice, in the ten years I've had the Explorer, I have gotten out of a nasty skid in mid-skid by punching that dashboard button and engaging 4WD. I know the trucker cognoscenti sniff at anything but manual hubs but I got 135K out of the originals on the Explorer before they needed replacement, and if they're available on the Dakota, I'd like that. An ARE or Jericho cap will go on the bed. I'll put a rod rack on the front and a ski rack on top (for rods) and stick the cooler in the cargo bed. Hey, maybe I'll get a cap with a solar panel on top, keep a trickle of current available! Any recommendations for Dodge dealers with good service departments in Suffolk County, NY, are appreciated.
