07 Grand Cherokee Lease Prices
by msully1090 on Sun Apr 22 05:17:34 PDT 2007
Hi: Wondering why payments are so much higher this time around with most factors being the same? Currently Im in an 04 Grand Lease. 39/12K year. Its up in Sept 07, so Im shopping around. Incentives are good, pull ahead program, etc. Im being quoted higher monthly payments to the tune of $100/month more than where Im at now. The only thing that is different this time around is that I am requesting different mileage. I am requesting 19K a year. I am aware that this request would make the payments a bit higher, but $100 more a month? This is what I am asking the dealers. MSRP 30425(Basic Grand 07)(Which is about what I picked up the 04 for) Incentives give:4500 Asking to go $100 over Invoice Requesting 19K/39 $500 down Quotes are in the $400-$430 range! Is the increase in price here strictly b/c of the mileage request or does this monthly payment amount sound right for this package? My incentive back in in 04 were $5500 and not $4500, but I have heard that a $1000 (in terms of Rebates, money down etc) will only move a payment $20 or so? Considering I have read the board and have seen others who are paying this price getting a lot more vehicle I am really curious about these quotes. These are dealers in Rutland, VT, Middlebury VT and Burlington, VT. Looking to lease again soon so any advice will surely help!
Dealer and Unreturned Deposit
by sfentner on Thu Aug 24 15:59:45 PDT 2006
Has anyone out there had the unhappy experience of being stiffed for a deposit on an undelivered car? I recently, ya right, two months ago, put down a $500 deposit on a specific Nissan Altima at COUNTY LINE Nissan in Middlebury, CT. I went to this dealer with my TMV printout from Edmunds showing specifically what I was looking for. Money and financing already in place and ready to buy, I was promised that, "WE WILL GET YOU THIS CAR". Delivery was to be on June 27th, 2006. I allowed them to debit my credit card for the deposit. This all took place on the evening of Thursday June 22nd. On the following evening I contacted my sales person to obtain the VIN number of the promised vehicle. This in the interest of completing the finance arrangments. I was told that they had not yet found the vehicle. I asked if "we are still on for Tuesday". The response,,,"Should be". I again contacted the sales rep on Saturday the 24th and was not able to talk to the sales rep. On Monday, I again tried to contact the sales rep and was put to voice mail, leaving a request for the VIN number of the promised vehicle. The salesman returned my call and stated that he was sorry for not contacting me sooner. Ok,,no problem but "I need the VIN off the expected vehicle if we are to close this deal tomorrow". I was told that he was not able to find the vehicle I asked (and put the deposit on)for, but would I be interested in something different. After repeatedly stating I was looking for that particular car set up as agreed upon, I was transferred to a Sales Manager who also proceeded to try and convince me to take something else. I stated that I'd prefer we called off the search as it was more than apparent that the vehicle I asked for and was promised was not on the lot and would not be delivered the following day, Tuesday the 27th of June 2006. After receiving a number of additional calls and voice messages from reps at this dealership, I did in fact try to contact one of the sales managers to reinforce my desire to call things off and wait for the new year models to arrive. After this time I never heard from any of them again and have been waiting for almost eight weeks for the return of my deposit. I finally contacted COUNTY LINE NISSAN about a week ago and was told I needed to come to the dealership prior to 7:00pm on Thursday, this being the 17th of August 2006, so my "card could be re swiped" and my accounted credited for the $500. I did and upon arrival, I was told by a sales manager that my deposit could not be refunded at that time as there was no one available to conduct the transaction. He asked that I call him "later tomorrow morning", that being Friday the 18th. I have since not been able to contact this person and have been sent to voice mail at least three times since. I was also told by what I guess is the receptionist, that one of my messages would be delivered to him. I have just now tried to make contact with this sales manager once again and was again put to voice mail. Today is the 24th of August. I would like to know if anybody else has had such a time retrieving a deposit back from a dealer and what if anything they ended up having to do to get it back. I'm not seeing a whole lot of alternatives here except to keep calling them but so far this has not even produced a call back,,,any suggestions? Steve F
Lug Nuts replaced with locking ones
by ltodeasa on Thu Aug 03 12:56:23 PDT 2006
Here's a puzzling situation. Just bought a Versa w/ CVT and the Convenience package. Love the roominess and the gas mileage (we got 39 on the highway with four people and suitcases in the trunk). HOWEVER, I got a little suspicious about the tires when the saleman gave me the run-through of all the car's features after we'd bought it and before we'd taken delivery. When he opened the glove compartment, there was a package with Nissan locking wheel nuts inside, and he seemed a bit surprised (flustered?), and quickly said, "Oh they have replaced the original lug nuts with these special locking lug nuts, at NO COST to you -- you'll just have to keep this special lug key handy because you won't be able to remove the tires without it." :confuse: I thought that was a little odd, especially the fact that they were changed without my permission and "at NO COST" to me. On our trip, the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) light came on. We pulled off the road, checked the tire pressure, and all was fine. Then we read about the TPMS in the Owner's Manual, where it states that if the TPMS light flashes for a minute when the ignition switch is turned on, then remains on, it is a TPMS malfunction and the system should be checked by a Nissan dealer. When we started the car backup, that's what it did--flashed, then stayed lit. We called the Service Manager from the road, explained what had happened, and he said that we just needed to go to the dealership to have the TPMS "recalibrated." When I asked if I needed to interrupt my trip to find a Nissan dealership, he said no -- that he knew it was annoying, but it would not affect the car's drivability. So I said I'd wait and let THEIR dealership handle it. Lo and behold, on the way home, we had a flat on the interstate in Pennsylvania (hottest day of the year, approaching 100 degrees!) Thank goodness no one was injured, and the PA DOT truck came and changed the tire to the spare for free before AAA came! They have cameras mounted along the highway and the computer notified them of our car pulled over in the breakdown lane! We drove slowly to the nearest tire store (a Walmart Tire and Lube Express). Wonderful people there. Had to sign a disclaimer since they didn't have a tire with the same speed rating (H) as the original, but they put on an "S" rated tire (112 mph on the S, as opposed to 130 mph speed rating on the H.) I now have come home, and need to resolve some issues with the dealership concerning the TPMS malfunction, the tire issue (Did they switch the original equipment tires for cheaper ones? What could explain their putting the $27 special locking lug nuts on the wheels without charging?) When we came to buy the car and I was checking it out again, another saleman took it away from us to let someone else test drive it. Before I signed the papers, I asked the salesman how many miles it had on it now. He asked me how many were on the car when I test drove it. There were 47 miles on the car when we test drove it. and he said it had about 50 miles on it now. When we came two days later to take delivery, the documents stated it had 149 miles on the car! There answer to my shock was that I probably had looked at the trip odometer! HOWEVER, on the Service and Maintenance Guide page where the salesperson wrote "Mileage at Delivery", he put 18 MILES! I'm upset about the whole thing! Anybody ever have a similar experience with another car or another dealership? I bought this car at CountyLine Nissan Buick in Middlebury, CT. Thanks for any input, Louisa
Re: Gas Mileage [volvomax]

Any news, or rumours, on when the D5 diesel will be available in North America for the XC90 and other Volvos? I believe that motor has been selling well in Europe with good mileage and adequate power. By the way, our V8 has been an exceptional vehicle, but I think that diesels will be the flexible-fueled engines of the future.
Wooooooohooooo!

Bought my 2007 Wrangler Unlimited X, 4X4, soft-top in Graystone Pearl yesterday at Foster Jeep in Middlebury, VT. It was almost exactly what I wanted ... no sirius radio, but that's ok. Also, it did come with the smokers package - which is a joke of a $30 plastic cup and lighter. I got a good deal on my trade and paid between invoice and sticker - since I really wanted the car now I didn't mind paying a little bit more than I originally intended, or hoped for. Foster Jeep was really easy to work with and more than fair in getting this deal done.
