Re: Towing Ability of Jeep Wrangler Unlimited ? [dhuntress3]
by erickpl on Mon Nov 10 05:57:16 PST 2008
IIRC the max towing capacity of the Unlimited is 2500 lbs. The heavier weight of the trailer may explain your swaying. Trailers will sway a bit too especially if they have the smaller tires. Your shifting probably isn't helping much. When I shift my 97 TJ, I notice when I press the clutch in, the Jeep steers a bit one direction. I think it is more me holding the wheel than the torque of the engine (the 2.5 doesn't have much of that anyway! :) ). -Paul

My thought is that you may want to post this in the Wranger 1987-1995 forum where you're more likely to get it addressed. :) As for your issue, it is probably just a relay that went out. Flasher relays are located on the steering column in a TJ, not sure about the YJ. -Paul

Not necessarily. Depends on what years we're talking about (YJ, TJ, and JK's are ALL Wranglers). -Paul

So it's still a problem... So what exactly IS working? So what exactly is NOT working? Your post is a bit confusing (or it's just early still). -Paul

Your engine will seize. Nothing major. -Paul
Re: 08 XB Transmission needs 5/6 speed/Venza MPG Estimates [bamacar]
by bamacar on Tue Nov 04 15:06:16 PST 2008
It will be interesting if Toyota's gas mileage estimates for the 4 cylinder hold up under EPA testing. The city numbers are what I predicted but the highway numbers are 2 better. 182 hp and 182 lb ft of torque moving 3760 lbs (2wd) and 3945 lbs (AWD) of curb weight may be a challenge. The weight turned out to be a little more than I predicted. It only has 3 more hp than the RAV4 4 cylinder but weighs 300-375 lbs more.
