Re: Some 09 TL rumors [nibauer]

Boy, I sure hope the TL Type-S isn't exactly like that. They better top the 300 HP mark and possibly utilize the turbo format from the RDX! The AWD needs more power and this car needs much better performance to take the leed back in this market. Bring the noise Acura or we will drop you!

"I don't believe the former VP and nobel laureate owns a jet. His mansion just got LEED certification (2nd tier iirc)." It doesn't really matter whether Gore's name is on the title of the Gulfstream jet he flies all over the place. Nor does it matter whether his 20,000 square foot mansion has double-paned windows. He's telling all of us to lower our standard of living to "save the planet," while he burns hundreds of gallons of jet fuel every trip he makes to do it. He's living in 20,000 sq. ft., while telling all of us to reduce our consumption. He's driving around in a fleet of SUVs while telling all of us to buy economy cars. See, that's how socialists operate. They preach the virtue of a soviet standard of living, while they enjoy the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Hypocrisy and credibility don't mix. .

Okay... most of these are my son's stuff.. since he has an iPod, and I don't.. but, I'm taking credit.. Pink Floyd (Wish you were here) forgot how great this album is/was. Roy Buchanan (unreal guitar playing.. pretty crappy blues performer.. I remembered the singing as being better) Allison Krauss (okay.. all mine.. the kid hates Bluegrass) Peter Frampton (local resident.. We saw him at the BMW dealer.. so, I turned the kid onto his stuff... great instrumental guitar.. sorry for the car reference..lol) The Who: Live at Leeds (he found this on his own at iTunes... My Generation is my all-time favorite song.. and the live version is great) that's all for now.. ;)

You may have a problem with the leeds. Is it a twin cam?

A couple of things. First, I think a car company making the claim stretches the concept of green. Second, green is a lot more than your product. Toyota has some high mileage cars - and some humongo trucks and sedans and off roaders (off roaders are the ultimate anti-green. Not only do they pollute, but they are used by nuts to tear up ultra-sensitive terrain such as the desert and prairie). Toyota has some efficient factories. But it is in no way the leader. In fact, GM even with its pile of outmoded facilities to slowly close has one factory that gets its fuel from methane released from a land fill and several others - Lansing, Lordstown and the one in Ontario that were cited for LEED efficiency. Honda, Daimler and VW also have some well regarded facilities. In sum, there is nothing special about Toyota's factories. Third, Toyota ships a lot of product to a lot of place. Ocean freight is the a number one bogey in the pollution world. One ship emits carbon equal to thousands of cars. Freighters constantly dump fuel, effulent and other trash in the ocean. And, perhaps worse of all, they carry critters from places where they belong to places where they do not. Exotic species completly unbalance eco-systems all over the world. Exotic species do not just hurt nature. In Chicago, zebra mussels (from Russia, I believe) clog water intakes and costs millions to eliminate. Here in New York, trees are being cut down because of some insect that made its way over here. Toyota has to overlook a lot of stuff to claim it is green. I don't think that is right.
