Re: Ford 7.3L diesel recall [fphilli1]
by cayadopi on Mon Apr 07 19:39:55 PDT 2008
not recently, but..... I am original owner '92 F350 7.3L diesel dually crew.... and never got a recall notice on the tranny many years ago. Kept taking to dealer with complaints during warranty (they kept telling my no problem), until after out of warranty. Then said a computer chip needed to be replaced. A number of years later tranny problems continued, when to a private guy 3 different times. The last time was 11k miles ago, for an rebuild. Over last 5 months have been redoing as much as possible, getting my old Black Beauty ready to haul a 13k trailer (@142k miles),,,, re-did just about everying except the tranny, thinking I had just had it done. The tranny blew the first day. I was very very fortunate that I broke down in Spanish Fork, AL near an incredible tranny shop. (The tranmission was smoking and probably close to catching on fire; the metal was "blued" it was so hot.) I found out that many many moons ago Ford put out a notice to fix/update a bunch of stuff on that transmission, and NONE of it had been done by either the dealer or the other tranny shop. (I had given copies of all the tranny work I had had done to the vehicle the the AL shop.) Fortunately, the rest of my trip was uneventful, albeit a bit slow going up some of the steeper small mountains. Passed the tranny inspaction for the warranty on arrival at my destination. I even blew the outside cover, basically everything between the drive shaft & the crank shaft. (The rangers who helped rescue me basically gave me a heads up on how bad it was before I was towed to the tranny shop.) Anyone with a '92 7.3L really needs to find out if their updates were made on the tranny if you're going to do any towing, before a super expensive repair and getting stranded. I can't believe Ford didn't send out a recall on this one - the tranny shop didn't have anything nice to say about the Ford dealer (based on the receipts) or the other tranny shop.
Electrical Nightmare
by lwheeler on Sat Nov 19 15:25:14 PST 2005
1994 F 250 7.5 manual trans. When I have the negative battery cable disconnected I get 12.7 volts between the cable and the negative battery terminal. I have disconnected the starter, alternator, and removed all of the fuses and replaced them one at a time to determine which circuit might be the problem. This is where I get lost as I have five fusses that all trigger the problem. I have even traced it to the next fuse box and have found the following areas to be the problems. Audio Power Fuel pump relay Trailer brake feed Courtesy dome light, radio clock memory, speedometer, warning buzzer. Door locks ABS, Electrical control, Cruise control. I can find nothing in common with these elements that would be causing the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: 2004 LX Coupe - Standard Equipment? [backy]
by drfoster on Thu Sep 09 11:39:40 PDT 2004
As of today, I now have 4 remotes! Two the dealer gave me after my showing them the window sticker and two I found in the coin holder to the left of the steering wheel. It was a week after I picked up the car that I even opened it and there they were! I took the two I found in the car and was going to give them back to the dealer. The dealer told me to keep them for my trouble. If I should loose or break one, I've got a spare that I'll simply have to get tied to my car (only two can be tied to a car at a time.) Also, as of today, I have floor mats!!! Turns out there are three, 2 for the front and 1 for the back that spans both sides.

Great idea about the window sticker!!! Sure enough, I checked and the keyless remotes are there. I went back to the dealer and showed it to him. He said something along the lines of "they were a mid-year change." He was used to delivering LX's w/o them. He took my car through the service center and 5 minutes later brought it back with 2 remotes coded to it. As far as the floor mats, I talked to the parts person and asked about the mats that were ordered. He said they come in a set of four (2 - front and 2 - back.) Although the salesman said only front, I should be getting all four. I have to wait and see for sure until next week when they come in.
2004 LX Coupe - Center Console Latch?
by drfoster on Tue Aug 31 06:47:00 PDT 2004
Is the center console one a 2004 Civic LX Coupe supposed to have a latch? According to the owner's manual, it does. My new 04 doesn't. Should it? Should I even care?
2004 LX Coupe - Standard Equipment?
by drfoster on Tue Aug 31 06:29:11 PDT 2004
I just bought a new 2004 Honda Civic LX Coupe. When I took delivery, much to my surprise, the dealer said the LX Coupes (i.e., 2 door LX models) no longer come with the remote keyless entry. Only the 4 door models do. Can anybody confirm this with their recent purchase? It's not that I don't trust my dealer, but, ... Also, when I took delivery, the car's floor mats were missing. The dealer ordered new ones which should be here next week. Question: Is the standard equipment on an LX Coupe front floormats only or both front AND rear floormats? (I'lll leave it to your imagination as to why I'm asking :)
