Well, maybe if the alternatives were awesome cars like Packards and Hudson Hornets instead of dull, tedious, anonymous, bland, nothing entities like Toyota and Honda, I wouldn't be so passionate about the impending doom of a cherished icon like Buick. I would mourn Buick's passing more than facing the prospect of my own death. Forced to live in a world with no choice but Ford and Camcords is a zombie's existence at best. I love my GM cars with the white-hot passion of a thousand suns! They are almost my religion.

Chill, reality2. If you look closely there are huge variety in opinions regarding BMWs. Yes some love it more than we do, but hey thats life. Most posters here are enthusiasts, and BMW is arguably one of, if not the, best combination of luxury and performance so far. Yet if you read again you'll find Dada being an Acura TL and Aston Martin fan (no praise for bimmer as far as I remember), or LG and rockshocka1 being Audi supporters, or even LW as a Lexus fan, just to name a few. Besides, anybody who's seen my posts know that I dont particularly love BMWs, despite being a previous owner of one. I still like BMWs but always maintain my usual gripes about overpriced options and the bland, inadequate interior quality, not to mention the cheap sounding stereo BMW refuse to change even now. Last, its too easy to figure out that Audi's Quattro beats BMW's system in snow performance, almost everybody knows that. All that and I've yet to receive any attacks :)

So here we are. The Sequoia is a bland-looking, gargantuan, comfortable SUV with a five-star engine, a two-star interior and lousy handling dynamics. I think Toyota went the wrong direction with the 2008 Sequoia. I did like the 2006 Escalade as well as the 07 Sequoia. Wife did not like the looks of the Escalade. I will probably sell the Sequoia next year and get either the Mercedes or BMW diesel SUV. GM and Ford have nothing to offer that compares. The Sequoia handles a heck of a lot better with better acceleration and braking than my 05 GMC hybrid PU truck. Not really apples to apples comparison. Just the quality of the product and the workmanship. The UAW let mine get out with doors that did not shut properly. Dealer unable to correct problem. Sold to a guy in LA that just had to have a Hybrid PU. So I did not lose my shorts on the deal. I was a GM fan up until that truck. The UAW is partially responsible for losing me as a customer.

My very high quality Sequoia So here we are. The Sequoia is a bland-looking, gargantuan, comfortable SUV with a five-star engine, a two-star interior and lousy handling dynamics. In Toyota's quest to become like Ford and GM, they've become just like Ford and GM. Yes, but… consider Toyota's Demming-sourced rep for reliability. The ToMoCo juggernaut rolls on. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2008-toyota-sequoia-platinumreview/
Re: Ford/GM REALLY need to retool their compact sedan styling [tybert7]

I agree about the Focus. Ford basically did a nip/tuck on a 10 year old design. The 3 shares its design with the Euro Focus which does look and perform alot better. So America got shortchanged on that one. So when you drive a 3, just remember that this COULD have been a Focus. Now as for GM... I'm assuming you're referring to the Delta cars. I own a 2007 Cobalt coupe and I have to say I disagree. I constantly get compliments on the looks of the car. I love the quad tail light design. Also, it accelerates and handles quite nicely as well. The interior could use a little work... mostly in the door panel area. The sedan is more bland to be sure but that care is more about utility... which is why people would by the sedan over the coupe. The G5, in my opinion, was a mistake since it is a carbon copy of the Cobalt. The Cobalt is a good car but I think a RWD model based on the Kappa (Solstice) platform would've fit the division better... sort of like a poor man's 1 Series. Anyway before I ramble any further... styling is all subjective. While I think the 3 is a nice looking car I wouldn't say it's the BEST. I'm sure there's those that will disagree...
Thank You Forum Members

Hi everyone. I'd like to thank everyone who has taken part in this forum. Because of all of you I received insight that helped greatly in my car buying decision. I just picked up my Mazda6 S GT, and am pleased with the choice. Again, because of the members of the forum I was able to take advantage of the S-plan, the $400 S-plan rebate, and the $1000 Private Launch Bonus (which was applied for and received post launch). *Signing up for the Mazda updates costs nothing, and will make you eligible for e-mailed coupons for potential future incentives. In this category of automobile, there are many competitive and deserving choices; The Camry SE V6 is silky smooth, a supreme cruiser, and especially powerful for a mid-priced family sedan. Miraculously, there is almost no compromise with the power and fuel efficiency. The Toyta V6 drivetrain provides great acceleration, smoothness, and relatively miserly gas mileage. But the ride benefits cost the Camry in the way of handling and perceived stability. The peculiar lineup for the options packages are also a bit off-putting. And the interior was bland with a mixture of very solid fixtures amongst flimsy ones. The Accord EX-L V6 is the best value, in terms of features for asking price. The ride and handling balance was pleasingly calibrated, and the quality of construction, if not materials, was best according to initial personal perception. However, the VCM V6 didn't feel as though it had the power that its displacement and horsepower ratings would suggest. And with VCM and lower responsiveness, the hope for better fuel economy wasn't met. Nissan's Altima SE V6 had a ride that was a bit too stiff, without a commensurate benefit in handling. And the interior, though made of good materials and seemingly good construction, had an "injection molded" design that looked less than mature in comparison with the others. The engine sounded nice at first, but had a coarse quality that could be pleasing and energizing to some, but may feel unrefined to others. But, already being the owner of a Mazda Millenia S, I was biased toward the brand. And a personal preferrence for the styling and handling of the S GT tipped the scales. The car seems no better than the other "big three" Japanese sedan offerings, overall; better in some categories, worse in others. Mostly, the Mazda was just more appealing to personal taste. Plus, with the incentives and S-Plan, the value was pretty good. These observations are just echos of what others here have written before me. It's necessary to try everything out in person. But, seeing how informative and accurate some of the posters have been was great. If possible, I'd like to return some of the favors in the forum. Weathergirl, I was informed that I could purchase a warranty extension before the first 3/36,000 was up. The finance manager suggested that it be purchased a couple of months and/or a couple thousand miles before it actually expired. You do forfeit the feature that refunds your payment in the case that nothing happens during your warranty extention period. But, at my dealership (Chicagoland area) it was an option to be had at almost anytime within the original warranty coverage.
