Leather Care
by briantucson on Sun Oct 26 14:56:29 PDT 2008
Looking through the owner's manual, Cadillac recommends using only an occasional damp cloth to wipe down the interior. They do not recommend any product on the interior, as some discoloration may occur or the different pieces of hide may react differently and I'm left with a multicolored interior. Maybe that's the right answer, but something in the back of my head says that's not sufficient (I intend on keeping this vehicle for a loooong time). What do the rest of you do? If it makes a difference, I have the black leather. -Brian

There actually was a posting by Paulie several hours ago that is now gone. I don't know if he or the mods deleted it. It basically was a response to Brian's earlier post about what one needs and how much it cost - but even that was more sales than really answering brian's posting. Of course, Paulie did not address gagrice's post or mine about that website. I'm assuming it got deleted my the mods for being commercial, or by Paulie after he read the follow up posts and did not have a response. IF these systems actually do provide some benefit, my only theory would be combustion improvement. Due to Hydrogen's reaction (i.e. BOOM) and the availability of extra oxygen, perhaps it ensures the entire gasoline vapor in the cylinder actually ignites. Whether there is actually enough H2 and O2 to have an effect is over my head. Even so, I could see modest gains from improved spark, particualarly from an older carbuerated engine. But "50% to 100% - guaranteed"?!?! Sorry, Paulie, you'll have to back that up with more than a website with bad science and selling ionizers, detoxifiers, and conspiracies . . . Which reminds me about paulie's deleted post . . .he had mentioned something in it about how they were exhibiting at a convention in DC attended by the President. Beside the fact that all it takes to exhibit at a convention is a little cash and a table, it was funny that he would use the attendance of the President to legitimize his product. Because the Jeff Otto guy, by his own words, went to federal prison because the gov't was out to get him. Last time i checked, the Prez was the head of the federal gov't . . . well, if it sells snake oil
6.0L Ford Problems
by abouch on Mon Aug 04 11:50:40 PDT 2008
Brian, Ford buyers beware 6.0L a defective engine. Please read below it is a prior posting, I would like to add that I have talked with other people that have had their EGR Cooler, Fan Clutch, Coolant Tank and Cap, and Head Gaskets in that order in my case it also needed a cylinder head. What does Cyl. Head on National backorder tell you? Others I have spoke with have had their vehicle bought back by Ford, they are limited in what they will share beyond the fence post because Ford makes them sign a non disclosure agreement as part of the buyback. How do you spell "COVERUP" ? When you go to the Dealer for warranty they act like your the only one having a problem they even told me they couldn't find anything wrong this last visit I had to tell them I wasn't going to take the truck till it was fixed. I can assure you this is the big deal that has knocked Ford out of the #1 Truck slot. "Ford’s claims that Super Duty pickups with the 6.0L diesel could not be repaired. The auto maker said it had to buy back the trucks from customers." See article http://wardsauto.com/ar/ford_diesel_navistar/ Anthony _________________________________________________________________ Previously Posted The real deal is that the engine was poorly designed example: 7.3L engines have 18 head bolts and I believe the 6.0l has 10 so now we have an engine thats smaller and has been hot rodded from the factory to produce more power. More compression, more boost and less head bolts = poor combination causing poor results, all the things that have been replaced are secondary to the real problem (pressure building up in the cooling system) causing EGR Cooler failure. There are even Technical Bulletins that end with replacing the head gaskets however It is my opinion that the problem will re-occur and when warranty runs out you will pay for this out of pocket. If you would like to converse more I am considering a Law Suit against Ford I have a 2006 F-250 6.0L with 55,000 miles and it is at the dealer right now and they tell me it needs a coolant tank. Please pass this on, respond, get the word out, if I get enough response I will launch a web. ________________________________________________________________ Please Copy Share and Post freely.
Re: Is There Really Such a Thing as a "Lemon"? [fezo]

The Accord is a head scratcher. I had an 80 which would have been pretty much the same car and you couldn't kill that sucker. Give it to my old college buddy, Brian. He had a gold '80 hatchback. It blew one engine and one transmission. Then, when tranny #2 went bad, his old man made him get rid of it. Its interior was falling apart, it had huge rust coming through the paint, and the key broke off in the ignition, so you could start it with anything you could jam in there! Sometimes to be jerks, we'd move his car around the campus, just to mess with him. Now to be fair, this thing was a used car when he got it, so previous maintenance could have been a culprit. It also had an automatic transmission, and that's one area where the Japanese really weren't up to snuff yet in 1980. The domestics had figured out how to make a tranny go 200K miles or more by the 60's, perhaps even 50's (although by the 70's and 80's they were figuring out how to make them self destruct before 100K again. ) The Japanese learned pretty quickly, but in 1980 I think they still had a ways to go with transmissions. Air conditioning was another weak spot with them. I think my buddy's Accord had about 90K on it when tranny #2 went bad. Speaking of Accords, I was at a car show near Allentown PA today, and there was an '80 or '81 hatchback, in that pretty light green, with a matching green velour interior. It was very well maintained, and looked almost new! It seemed kinda weird seeing something like that at an antique car show. This was an AACA event, which is a higher caliber than those Carlisle things I attend where you can put almost anything in. But still, an '80-81 Accord is over 25 years old now, so it qualifies! There was also an early 80's K-car wagon, and a K LeBaron woody convertible. We didn't ask if once belonged to Jon Voight, but we thought about it! :shades:
2001 F-350 Powerstroke Diesel
by brenner75 on Thu Jun 12 18:36:02 PDT 2008
I own a 2000 7.3 diesel in an Excursion. I have noticed water dripping out of the exhaust pipe just these last couple of days. Any word on what may cause this, other than head or exhaust gaskets? Thanks, Brian

we're heading to Vegas for the weekend. Guess you could say it's our 5 year anniversary 'vacation'. Kids will be at home with the MIL. Have a safe holiday everyone. -Brian
