Re: New VM Motori Diesel for US Automaker [goodcrd]
by farout on Tue Mar 20 12:25:54 PDT 2007
goodcrd: Cruise control drops or kicks out when going down hill, at the bottom and when it starts to go up hill. This does not have to be a big dip either. We live in an area that has dips in the freeways so even on a fairly nice freeway dip it kicks out. The light never goes out, all I have to do is hit resume. The engine shudders, or jerks or bucks, between 50 to 70mph. There is no pattern, just at very odd times. The jerking lasts from 1/2 to a 1 1/2 min. Fuel gauge is never even close to accurate. The gauge can say 1/4 and it can be empty. I can fill it up and it sticks at 3/4 full. We had it say 1/2 and it has taken 6 gal. The gauge is a constant game the "Green Beast" plays on us. They have replaced 4 sending units in the tank. The front windows leak air so much so that if you light a match and bring it in the curved top area it will blow out the match! door deals have been replaced twice. Service manager says he has done everything, and to adjust the doors anymore will not line up with the body. After the F-37 recall the fuel mpg droped from 21.6 and 24.6mpg to less than 20 mpg on open road, and between 60 and up when we try to get into a passing gear it has no power, just barely gets much speed up. Several sensors have been replaced as well the PCM. Passengers seat belt has gone bad twice. Inner cooler hose was replaced, EGR flow valve replaced, ball joints recalled, and 5 reflash's were done by recall. There has been a total of 25 trips to the dealer and this represents 2,400 miles and more than 100 hours at the dealer waiting for work to be done. The things we like are the Rear Cargo Organizer, the five speed trans, the color Deep Beryl Green, the Chrome Front Grill we had put in. We have done some more things to it that fit our needs. BUT we are sick and tired of constantly having these problems. This AM my wife left our house with 3/8 of a tank, she drove 25 miles and it was showing at the empty light and at the empty peg that makes the gauge stop from going down anymore. We are retired and I have some serious medical problems, and we depend upon a dependable vehicle as we live pretty far out in the Ozarks. At present we take our 96 Dodge Neon with 193,000+ miles on it, The Neon has been well taken care of from the day we drove it home from the new car dealer. That sure says a lot right there. Any suggestions? Farout
Re: Minimal Issues [winter2]

winter2: As I write this we are having a very bad ice storm. There is near 3/8 " of ice so far. The TV just said this will be the worst ice storm in our south west Missouri recorded history. The "Green Beast" (our CRD Sport) looks two tone colors Deep Beryl Green and White. Thanks for the input on the brake spring and etc. To answer your question about would we have bought it if we had known about the very limited production and or experiment with the CED, NO WAY! I am not a risk taker with twenty eight thousand plus dollars. In fact I do not buy a vehicle without the extended warranty. The CRd has a zero deductable 100,000 mile 5 year max care DCX plan. I have such luck that if there a a bad vehicle in 1,000 new vehicles I would pick it, even though it was brand new. We bought a 1987 Mercury Topaz. This was a car made in Fords end of the model year left over parts. It was supposed to have a 12 gallon gas tank, it came out with a 19 gallon that hung so low there was just a very sort distance between the bottom of the tank and the rear suspension. The Ford Airostar we bought new and in 65,000 miles it needed a needed rings and valves. I maintain all my vehicles even beyond what the owners manual said. So I tend to be on the safe side as much as possible. Farout

zoomy2: On the Title you first had to sign or submit to registar your vehivle that had the exact date, but call any DCX dealer and have then run your VIN and they can tell ya. It looks like we have the same build month, how about that? What color is yours? Ours is the Deep Beryl Green. When we hit a deer in Sept of this year, they had to replace the front stuff, so I had then put in the Chrome Grill, which sorta sets our Sport off a little. I have seen other do this to their Sport as well. WE put the 245 70 16 Wrangler Silent Armor tires on and this changes the ride drasticly! A very sturdy solid ride and handles so much better. The ST tires were also on the 06 Sport Liberty we bought for our daughter. The ST tires were changed the first week,

Steve05: I guess it sounds like you have filled up a couple of times now. The thing I do not understand is why the diesel pump handle is so smelly. I wash my hands after filling up and I still smell diesel. Oh well maybe someone will think I a trucker. Now for your question. The exact build date is on the window sticker and the month and year is on the drivers door, or you can call 1-800-992-1997 and get it. If you have the window sticker, down at the bottom left where the VIN is printed out follow it across past the L4 Von and the next little fore numbers are the build date, for example mine says 0614. You can call your dealer and the service dept can run your vin and tell you also. Proberly you are looking at your oil and saying this is the dirtiest oil I have ever seen. That's how it's to look if it's doing the job. The oil can be used until 12,250 miles, although I don't think that's a good idea. I changed mine at 9,000 miles, and next time I will most likely do it at 18,000 miles. I only added 1 quart at 3,800 miles. I have not used any in 3,300 from the last oil change. I am seriously considering using 5-40 mobil 1 next time. I have used the 0-40 last time, and as it gets hot in the summer, I think that will add to the oil some lubercating properties. Or at least I think so. What color is your jeep? Ours is that Deep Beryl Green. The mud and dirt sorta blend in pretty well. It seems like we have either gone for silver, or white in the past, so we broke the pattern. I am not positive but I think June 1st all diesel will be B-5, which I think will be good. These darn oil producing countries have is by the billfold. Well good Jeeping! Farout

Just curious...why did you pick Solar Yellow? I'm always interested in why people choose the colors they do. I'm personally drawn to the blue, black and green shades. (The new Jeep Green is going to be one of my favorites.) I wound up with Deep Beryl Green as carmax had only two Unlimiteds, the green one here and a Yellow one in Tennessee or somewhere. I had to think about it overnight, as I really wanted black, but now I think I like the green just as much. By the way, I've only seen red on the new JK prototype. Anyone know when will they announce paint colors for JK production?

Thanks for the congrats! I now have put 2,000 miles on mine (including the 750 mile return from McGonigal) and have loved every mile. Was in Dallas on business all last week. Missed the Rubicon. Hard top is great. Hope you can eventually get one. Love the Deep Beryl Green. I've now added XM (swap it between vehicles). Installed the car kit - thanks everyone for the tip on installing the antenna under the cover for the roll bar. Barely any degradation in reception as compared to the roof mount on my Sierra. Additionally, I've added a car kit for my iQue GPS. Now that I have all the "required" creature comforts for daily driving, I'll have to start working on the "real" mods! Art...
