Two Package by magda2 on Mon Jul 06 17:23:03 PDT 2009

Hello, I have 2007 Toyota 4X4, 4.0, V6, double cab, short bed truck without the tow package. I need some advise on how to add the tow package, because I recently bought a 1993 Layton Travel Trailer which weighs 4,000 lbs. After reading the forum, I think I will need to buy and add the following to my truck: 1. supplemental engine oil cooler, 2. transmission cooler- with a small radiator in front of the regular engine radiator, 3. new 130 amp alternator for the trailer electric brakes, 4. heavy duty battery, and 5. class IV receiver (trailer has 6 wire). How much will all this cost?

Re: Jeep Liberty: MPG - Real World Numbers [winter2] by arkwhizzard on Sat Jun 27 17:36:20 PDT 2009

Hi Fellow CRD's I bought my wife an 05 Limited which she dearly loves we have found that fuel choice makes a difference. With the cheaper brands like Citco our mileage drops and by using better fuels Like Shell the 1 to 3 cents more per gallon pays off. Other friends have tried this with their diesel's and are now using brand name fuels too. 65% highway 35% city 24 mpg to 27 mpg all highway up to 31.4. Pulling our Layton 19LT Camping Trailer 17 to 22 mpg We love our little Jeep.

Re: Brake Pad Replacement [garysteinweg] by ricwhite on Sat May 16 10:23:33 PDT 2009

Thanks for your response. The brakes under normal driving conditions work fine. No issues at all. ABS works because it was activated a lot this past winter on icy or snowy roads. Hard braking is another story. The pads just seem slippery until the car slows below a certain speed and then they grip. Maybe the pads WERE contaminated by wheel cleaning or tire spray. I don't know. I think I need to just get some really good grippy new pads on there. All of the other brake components seem to work fine.

Azera / 25,000 miles. Brakes are not feeling as grippy as they used to be on my Azera. I had a car turn in front of me in an intersection the other day and I slammed on the brakes and moved right through the intersection until my speed lowed to about 20 mph and then the pads gripped hard. But until then, it felt almost like they were wet and ineffective. I had to swerve to avoid the car. I was not impressed. No matter how hard I press the brakes, the pads never grip hard enough to activate the ABS. When the car was new, I don't recall this problem. . I'd like to get the pads replaced. I only have 25,000 miles on the car, so I think just the pads will due. I would like a very high quality and effective brake pad -- probably ceramic. Any recommendations? Shops? Thanks.
