Fourth Ford in a row...first Hybrid
by russrdh on Sat Nov 01 23:17:32 PDT 2008
I bought my first Ford (Mercury Lynx Wagon) in '82. It averaged better than 35 MPG and went 185,000 miles before we sold it in "89 to purchase our second Ford (Taurus L Wagon). It was driven 160,000 miles until '96 when we purchased our third Ford ('96 Taurus LX Wagon). Now with 191,000 miles on it we have made a purchase of a used 2007 FEH with 12,000 miles on it. We wanted the newest tech and gobs of gas mileage and I believe we have both it this vehicle. When driven carefully and using the electric motor in town the mileage can be astounding. Using side streets rather than the main throuoghfares here in Ogden, Utah I can achieve 50+ mpg on trips to the market, school and to the freeway. A trip in the freeway over to Clearfield and back home still left me with 38.3 mpg. There were two on the lot last week when I bought this and I'm seriously thinking about buying the other one. It has plenty of power, economy is stellar, usefullness is tops (I have a small tent trailer that weighs about 500 lbs loaded), and even my lead footed wife is hard pressed to get less than 35 mpg on her commute to West Valley City each day. It was used, so if anyone has a source for an owners manual ofr less than the dealer's $35 let me know.

The deflector along with a nice every 4 week Rain-X touch-up has helped a little. I do admit I am not the lightest of foot driver so for the mileage I am getting, I'm happy. I will be filling up 'The Beast' tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing what my mileage was. I filled up tuesday morning and drove up to Clearfield for the Fair, and made a few side trips over to Punxsutawney and then back down to the Hershey. My trip meter is reading 335 and I have about 1/4 tank left. This was an ALL highway trip. My dad's
by odie6l on Sat Jun 02 18:00:50 PDT 2007
My dad had 3 before he passed away in 1998 at 62 yrs old (I was 24). #1 - Was his 1995 Customized F-150 (was customized by local Ford Dealer for him). This vehicle still lives on as the Fire Chief's personal vehicle at the fire department that he was a volunteer with for 41 years. He was Chief there for 10 years, so after he passed away, we sold the F-150 (at a huge discount) to the department for them to use as the Active Chief's truck (and they signed a contract that they are not allowed to sell / trade with-out contacting myself or my mother first). Oh, and the local dealer that my father bought (and had customized) the truck at performs all service on the truck at no charge. #2 - Was his Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler off-road rescue truck that he practically rebuilt. He needed a little roll-out cargo net / ladder to get into the seat (he was only 5'6"). The truck was lifted and modified for moutain off-road trail driving. The funniest thing I remember about the CJ-8 was his license plate on the front read "Have You Driven OVER a Ford Lately." Being he was an avid Ford man, this was very funny to him. #3 - His oldest, was his 1974 F-100 custom that still resides at my uncles house in Clearfield, Pa. Odie Odie's Carspace

Hey everyone. I bought my 06 SS just about 3 weeks ago. Bought it from Young Chevrolet in Layton Utah fro $22,750 and that was with tax and all of the other ?? things they charge. It was on th elot for 492 days. Apparently it was a custom order with the laser metallic blue paint as well as the wood grain rim. It was placed back in the corner and I guess the guy who bought failed on his financing. Not sure how that happened) Anyway, I was having my Avalanche worked on and started talking to the guy I bought my Avalanche from. I asked for some numbers. He gave me their MSRP sheet, I then started calling different dealers in the areas and just started dealing with prices. I started quoteing $1k less to each dealer till I got down to the lowest I could get then I started applying the rebates they they were offering. I know there are some that may be getting a better price out there but for this area, I got a really gor price with an excellent dealership. :)

Hey guys! Thanks for the wram welcoming. I have an Avalanche and love it! Takes getting used to now driving a car. With all your guys advice, I will leave it as is. Not worth messing with warranties, and so on. Besides, I smoked a guy driving a modified Honda civic earlier today anyway. Damn I love this car!!! I really appreciate everyone's input and look forward to chatting with all you guys at some point or another. Thanks for all the input guys and making me feel at home here on the site! Chat with you guys later!! Jason P.S. Is there a way I can post a pic of the car on here anywhere?

Hey everyone! As of March 6 I am now a proud new owner of a 06 Laser Blue Metallic Impala ss. Doea anyone know if there will be performance chip uprades available? I like the deep sounds of the exhaust, is there a set of mufflers besides headers that will enhance this?
