Re: Diesel Wrangler [busiris] by steve_ on Mon Feb 13 15:40:01 PST 2012

And again, historically speaking, one can get a lot more miles out of a diesel engine as compared to a gas fired engine. I don't think holds true for the passenger fleet. Don't recall seeing any links to that effect at least. My stat on that is Irv Gordon, and his 1966 Volvo 1800S that's pushing 2.6 million miles. 1966 is getting sort of historic. :) Americans making cars last longer (telegram.com)

Where's Irv with his 2 million mile Volvo?

28,300 OTD in DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) EX-L by virtual_void on Tue Sep 02 11:50:30 PDT 2008

I finally bought the Odyssey went to Irving dealer first as they had given us a quote of 28.5K, Frisco dealer said that they will beat it by $500, and Irving then said they will match. After reaching the Irving dealer the sales person started behaving very rudely and didn't agree to match the 28K, went to Frisco dealer and initially I was hesitant that it might be a bait and switch as they never agreed to put 28K in writing. They were very nice to deal with, and honored the deal, break down: EX-L (slate green) + Pro pack + env pack + TTL = 28,300 (I didn't want the extras but was too tired to fight for 300 bucks, and knew it was a good deal) I also paid $800 for 6 yr. 80K miles wty which I will cancel and probably buy online or not at all. We wanted the white color but when we test drove it, it somehow didn't feel right, the noise level was high and ride was bumpy, then test drove Ocean mist which was very good but had 200 miles on it the Slate green was almost as good as the Ocean mist but with 17mi, I don't care for the color but simply went with what my wife liked. - They filled the gas only 70% despite the fact that I asked the sales guy to fill full, and he said he will top it off, not sure if it was by mistake or deliberate, didn't push as going home was higher priority after 10 hours of van shopping. - They quoted $1400 for after market RES and $1700 for Honda RES, one of their guys does it on the side and gave me a number to call, will look at other like car-toys, any suggestions? - They mentioned that they have sold few 2009 models and are going to get few more, the brochures etc. were for 2009.

Bought two Accords: 2011 coupe and 2012 sedan by civic2k on Mon Nov 07 09:36:02 PST 2011

My dad and I bought two Accords over the weekend, and as always my dad did way better: *********************************************************** Me (purchased in MA): 2011 Accord EX coupe (5-speed manual), Belize Blue Pearl (hard to find!) $23.3k OTD w/0.9% for 60 month financing, not including cost to finance *********************************************************** Dad (purchased in DFW): 2012 Accord EX sedan (automatic), Gray $23.7k OTD w/1.9% for 60 month financing, not including cost to finance *********************************************************** We were having a difficult time with DFW dealers, all wanting to add RIDICULOUS addons for ridiculous prices. We dealt with a bait and switch with David McDavid of Plano (excruciating experience) and moved on to Irving, where things went much smoother.

Re: Wow, One Million iles... [hpmctorque] by andre1969 on Tue Oct 25 05:43:47 PDT 2011

Approximately how many miles are on Irv's Volvo now? Are the engine and transmission original? Whatever, I think Irv and Joe are in urgent need to get a life. I did a quick google, and it looks like the engine has been rebuilt twice. Supposedly the transmission and differential are original. Irv Gordon does mainly highway driving, though. Here's a story of a high-mileage car that was really put through the wringer! Evidently, it was the highest mileage car in North America when it was taken out of commission. I'm not sure what year it was wrecked, but I remember hearing about it in the late 1990's, and one of the pics has a 1999 stamp on it.
