Re: OnStar [uplanderguy] by circlew on Thu Sep 22 12:41:07 PDT 2011

Yes, very useful, indeed! OnStar, a service from General Motors that calls for help for motorists in trouble, has changed its terms of service to say that the company will track location data and other information to share with law enforcement, credit card processors and others, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The company intends to continue collecting the information, even if the customer discontinues the service, unless the customer specifically contacts the company to completely sever the data connection. OnStar collects information such as your vehicle's location, detailed data about collisions involving your vehicle, when your car is on or off, when you put gas, your odometer readings and more, according to their terms. "What's changed [is that if] you want to cancel your OnStar service, we are going to maintain a two-way connection to your vehicle unless the customer says otherwise," said Adam Denison, a spokesman for OnStar, in a telephone interview with Wired. Forensic computer scientist and blogger Jonathan Zdziarski brought attention to OnStar's new terms in a blog post Tuesday, where he excoriated the company for the move. OnStar chief spokesman Vijay Iyer called the response overblown, according to a Jalopnik post, saying that OnStar has no deals in place to sell data. However, the company wrote the changes to give it room for future possibilities, according to the Jalopnik post. "We've not sold personalized information about our customers in the past, and we really don't have plans to do anything like that in the future," said Joanne Finnorn OnStar vice president of subscriber services in a YouTube video posted Wednesday afternoon. However, she added that the company does share anonymous data. Regards, OW

Re: NEW Honda Civic LX Automatic Sedan 2008 for $17,150 + TTL [cuyseco] by chillipepper1 on Tue Sep 09 19:48:27 PDT 2008

I live in Dallas Metro area and bought a Civic LX Automatic Sedan last September. I emailed or called the internet sales managers at all of the area dealerships to get the best deal. I ended up buying from Red River Autoplex in Denison (50 miles north of Mckinney) because they were a lot lower than in the Dallas metroplex. I payed cash 18,860 OTD including trunk tray, mud guards, pin stripping, window tinting, and aftermarket leather seats. I know prices are up since last year, but you might want to try them. It was worth the extra drive for me. Just call or Email to the internet manager. Good Luck, Chillipepper1 PS: I still love the car

Re: Rav4 V6 DFW Dilema Solved [eadlertx] by obssess on Sat Aug 02 20:47:15 PDT 2008

Eadlertx, We actually ended up purchasing our car from Red River Autoplex in Denison where I live and contribute to the local economy. But, I ended up with with 4-5 dealerships who would have sold the car within $70 of the same deal, after a lot of work. Toyota of Dallas, Pat Lobb Toyota, Toyota of Lewisville, Toyota of Paris and Toyota of Ardmore, Ok. If you will email me I can give you the name of the salesmen I talked with.

Re: I know the iPod connector is somewhere....... [ealazarus] by kgary on Sun Mar 09 14:37:50 PDT 2008

I wish I could help, but you are not the last person to have an IPOD; I am still waiting to make sure that the new technology works. The Audi salesman was amazed when I asked to have an 8-track installed in my 05 4.2. ;) Perhaps I should ask my teenagers about setting up an IPOD. I do know that Audi wants about $1,200 to retrofit my 05 to include an IPOD. I thin Denison has a less expensive fix as well.
