Re: 2008 EX-L with RES and NAV [epha]
by smrdal on Fri Sep 19 09:31:30 PDT 2008
Got it a McDavid, Irving. They still had a lot of cars left. Another friend of mine bought a EX-L with RES for I believe around 28,000. Not sure about the exact amount and the breakdown though.
28,300 OTD in DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) EX-L
by virtual_void on Tue Sep 02 11:50:30 PDT 2008
I finally bought the Odyssey went to Irving dealer first as they had given us a quote of 28.5K, Frisco dealer said that they will beat it by $500, and Irving then said they will match. After reaching the Irving dealer the sales person started behaving very rudely and didn't agree to match the 28K, went to Frisco dealer and initially I was hesitant that it might be a bait and switch as they never agreed to put 28K in writing. They were very nice to deal with, and honored the deal, break down: EX-L (slate green) + Pro pack + env pack + TTL = 28,300 (I didn't want the extras but was too tired to fight for 300 bucks, and knew it was a good deal) I also paid $800 for 6 yr. 80K miles wty which I will cancel and probably buy online or not at all. We wanted the white color but when we test drove it, it somehow didn't feel right, the noise level was high and ride was bumpy, then test drove Ocean mist which was very good but had 200 miles on it the Slate green was almost as good as the Ocean mist but with 17mi, I don't care for the color but simply went with what my wife liked. - They filled the gas only 70% despite the fact that I asked the sales guy to fill full, and he said he will top it off, not sure if it was by mistake or deliberate, didn't push as going home was higher priority after 10 hours of van shopping. - They quoted $1400 for after market RES and $1700 for Honda RES, one of their guys does it on the side and gave me a number to call, will look at other like car-toys, any suggestions? - They mentioned that they have sold few 2009 models and are going to get few more, the brochures etc. were for 2009.
Just got an iGT with Bose/Moonroof
by webwarmiller on Sat Aug 16 06:17:01 PDT 2008
I just bought a 2009 iGT with the Bose/Moonroof package (1MC). Apparently this is the only configuration you can find (at least in DFW) for the iGT model. I went to a couple of dealerships last Sunday to see what each had gotten in on Friday. Found a black on black at Freeman Mazda over in Irving......this car is drop dead gorgeous in black. Anyway, I'm S-Plan with Mazda which means you pay Invoice + $255 (at least it's $255 for Texas, it might be the same nationwide). I also got an additional $500 off for being a current Mazda owner and the dealer also took another $500 off (perhaps holdback). This put the selling price of the car at $25,147.....for a car that's less than a week old with an MSRP of $28,240. FWIW, if you join www.worldkarting.com for $55 you can get an S-Plan PIN from them (all members are eligible). It's the best $55 you'll spend if you want a new '09 6 while they are still new to the market as I doubt many dealers are willing to deal much at the moment. With S-Plan you can figure out what you'll pay simply by using Edmunds to figure out the invoice and then adding $255. Your dealer might be willing to give you the $500 holdback as well. For those of you without scruples, a little googling will allow you to find a Partner ID that will allow you to get an S-Plan PIN without having to join anything.

Wouldn't mind at all. I'm liking Hyundai lately. Plus from what my buddy at our Hyundai store tells me, the factory still spiffs the heck out of their cars so a mini deal can turn into a midi deal with the factory spiff. Unlikely another import manufacturer whose name starts with a T that have gotten so arrogant they don't feel it's necessary to spiff their sales people any more and have also done away with factory trips and other perks. This is how they plan on keeping retention at their dealerships high. :confuse: What part of Texas are you in? I would like to go close to Dallas but not that close. My son's boss can get us tickets for Cowboys games when they come up to Md, and his sister works for some big shot in Big D that can get tickets for Texas Stadium. We are trying to get a couple of tickets to go see them one last time in Irving. :)
Purchased 2008 Element SC Auto $20,750 +ttl in TX
by gmitch7 on Thu Aug 07 05:19:49 PDT 2008
On 7-31-08 purchased 2008 Element SC Alabaster Silver in Irving Tx (McDavid Honda) for $20,750 plus TTL (No crazy hidden fees, No over priced dealer adds, No have to use their financing, No buying their overpriced warranty, and No trade car for them to make up the difference, straight forward deal) I at dealership in the afternoon on the last day of the month (much more willing to deal on the last day of month), signed paperwork late that night. My credit union issued drafting instructions the next day and I picked the car up the afternoon of 8-1-08. I am very pleased! I did my homework and had with me a folder with print outs of the other DFW area Honda dealers ph numbers and online Element inventory. Most had 6 or 7 and 1 (Lute Riley) had 51. PS. They threw in the cargo mat and pinstripe for free ;) :) Purchased 08 Accord EXL V6 in Feb, same thing, much better deal on the last day of the month.

I do appreciate your position but at the same time, if they (the car dealers) will try to schiest you like this without discounting their vehicle for sale enough to compensate, then that's where I'd have to say, "Who were you kidding?" The game in this scenario becomes completely one sided (i.e., the Salesmen at the Dealer make their money on both the sides). I'd like to think I'm way more intelligent than to fall for stupidity of this nature. Citing examples for what was said above, from all the dealerships that I've showed my vehicles to (1 Honda (Bankston), 2 Nissan (Avery Johnson North Texas Nissan and Bankston Nissan Dallas), 3 Lexus (Sewell Dallas and Fort Worth as well as Park Place Plano), a Used Car (European Motors) and CarMax (Plano and Irving), only Sewell (both locations), AJ North Texas Nissan and the European Motors Used Car dealership were trying to schiest me on the Trade-in Value. The remainder dealerships were in a respectable range (i.e., within a few hundred of what I sought for the Trade in Value) BUT two factors played in to my decision here: 1. My wife wanted a Lexus; AND 2. Coincidentally, Park Place Lexus DID work their tails to get my business. One and one eventually came together when the right car got here but otherwise, the numbers were in place and the only dealy was inventory related. Bottom line....and my point to all of the above: While your theory on the current economic environment playing its impact role on my prospects applies, it only has a PARTIAL TRUTH VALUE. All that stuff is a thing of the mind. If you can sell your car and make the presentation well enough while simultaneously knowing who to weed out, you'll get your target with due time and patience. This is the one tremedously stressful thing that is a part of the car purchasing experience.
