marsha7, I'm human and will make mistakes. I will make plenty more but I can admit to them. I purchased the Acura TL, because I was so damn angry at how I was treated by the dealership. If you look at the Amarillo, TX market you will find at all the Chevy dealerships are owned by Autonation. I did go down the street and got railed by them. This is before I knew all these Chevy dealers were owned by the same company. What I discovered was the sales manager ran my 754 beacon score credit through a lot of banks on purpose to lower my beacon score and lock me in to a higher interest rate. The dealer in return would get a kick-back on the interest for sending it to them vs. competition. I knew a couple of other people I worked with one of them being my best friend at work who's father or uncle (can't remember now) had this done to him a year earlier. GM, nor the dealerships upper management, didn't help me. To put it simple this is the same dealer network that got hit by the FBI, for charging customers for features that they didn't have on their cars !!! So call me a hypocrite, or whatever you want but at least I can own up to my skeleton and if you don't like me for being honest then that's fine. The veteran posters here on edmunds already knew about my Acura TL skeleton and the reason why I purchased it and I told General Motors, that I was going to buy a Acura TL, and it was like if they didn't care. They cared once I went through with it !!! Visit my Carspace page and I have pictures of TL, in my album. I Marsha7, as I said loved the car. I will always be a Acura TL, fan. General Motors, still has some customer service issues. I had problems with the rims on the 2004 Impala, I own or should I say my wife made me own by forgery. My aluminum alloy rims were leaking air and discovered this was a problem on these cars. I called GM, to complain last fall and while the customer service was better they didn't step-up to the plate and offer to replace or fix them and I let em' know. I went to 3 different tire shops before the problem was resolved. If the 65%+ domestic content, 2009' Acura TL, was UAW-MADE, and I obviously had the money like I once did it would be on my short-list. Maybe someday the UAW, will make a come back in this country and unionize the transplants. Yeah, you say it's impossible but I respectfully disagree with your accessment !!! "The Rock" P.S. I'm a yankee male, from Michigan. I'm going to get a trap door and a noose at the final court hearing in Texas. They like "frying" people in Texas. I being a yankee will make the event extra special as many are still fighting the civil war down there. :surprise:
Re: 2005 Kia Sportage - accelerates/dies [bchapman1]

I don't know if anyone else has gotten this issue resolved, but here's the scoop. I had the EXACT same symptoms on my 2006 Sportage V6 LX. Nobody, even the Albuquerque dealer where I purchased the car, could identify what the heck was happening. One time the dealer's mechanic even said that it was my gas cap leaking. LOL! I remember the first time I had that power drop and loud "CLUNK"... I thought I was going to cry because I thougth I'd bought a lemon. As I was relocating from Albuquerque to Dayton, Ohio the symptom reared its ugly head on the highway in between Amarillo, TX and Oklahoma City, OK. It was a saving grace in Elk City, OK that the AutoZone was still open and the clerk on duty put her analyzer on my poor baby. The code? THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.... This little sucker was intermittently failing and finally pooped out on the road. I limped to OKC using almost a full tank of gas because of the raggedy driving. They replaced the TPS and there hasn't been a surge or drop ever since. I urge you to have your Kia Dealer/Mechanic look at this tricky little sensor. Good luck to all.
Re: Back seat rattle [bruceer1]

Hi. I own a 2007 Lincoln MKX and am experiencing the same rattles as you. The dealership here in Amarillo, Texas was able to fix the sunroof/sunscreen rattle by taking it to an upholstery place. I'm not sure what they did but I can find out. My driver's side door rattles, creaks, squels, etc. Sometimes when I'm turning into my driveway it sounds as though it's going to pop open. In the shop today to investigate yet again. My backseat rattles. I found it to be the rearseat release handle on the driver's side. It's really bad when it's cold but that's what mine is. Trying thumping yours or banging on it to see if it makes the noise you hear. Love the car - hate the craftsmanship - very, very disappointed! Tom
Highway mileage 2004 V70 base non-turbo, 5-spd auto
by jim314 on Tue Feb 19 19:57:01 PST 2008
Round trip Dallas TX to San Francisco CA to drop off a relative. Outbound was with two people and luggage. Inbound me only and less than half of luggage. This base model has no trip computer so these mpg's are hand calculated from fuel pump fillup volumes and trip odometer readings. Highway speed of travel were in the range of slightly below posted to 5 mph over posted, so often 80 mph in AZ and NM. No significant drafting on trucks. Tires 195/65-15 Michelin MXV4+ Energy (51 psi max infl press) inflated to 41 psi before trip and not checked during trip. Overall 3984 mi on 128.3 gal of mostly Shell 90 or 91 octane AKI "V-Power" => 31.0 mpg. Twelve fillups. If the two legs with significant lower mpg (* and **) are excluded as outliers, then 3258 mi on 101.0 gal => 32.2 mpg. 1. Dallas to Amarillo TX: 384.2 mi on 15.236 gal => 25.2 mpg* (incl. urban Dallas) 2. to Albuquerque NM: 291.4 mi on 9.472 gal => 30.8 mpg 3. to Flagstaff AZ: 330.7 mi on 10.333 gal => 32.0 mpg 4. to Ludlow CA: 306.3 mi on 9.802 gal => 31.2 mpg 5. to Delano CA 216.4 mi on 6.805 gal => 31.8 mpg 6. to Moss Beach CA 378.2 mi on 11.828 gal => 32.7 mpg (incl some urban SF) 7. to Wasco CA: 342.2 mi on 12.043 gal => 28.4 mpg** 8. to Needles CA: 303.9 mi on 9.035 gal => 33.6 mpg 9. to Williams AZ: 347.7 mi on 11.519 gal =>30.2 mpg (incl. Grand Canyon NP) 10. to Moriarty NM: 401.8 mi on 11.774 gal => 34.1 mpg 11. to Amarillo TX: 300.5 mi on 8.806 gal => 34.1 mpg 12. to Dallas TX: 380.7 mi on 11.664 gal => 32.6 mpg (incl side trips to Palo Duro Canyon SP and Copper Breaks SP at Quanah TX and re-entry into Dallas through thick urban traffic for 40 miles) NB 1. The last urban tank before the trip yielded 20.1 mpg. 2. The V70 allowed me to sleep in the back of the vehicle with rear seat folded flat (return trip) in Grand Canyon NP and in Palo Duro Canyon State Park TX.
Vibration and Tire Problems
by jcampa on Sat Feb 09 15:03:52 PST 2008
Hey: Mine is going in the Amarillo Globe News, we are not keeping it either to see if the fix works. I highly doubt that it will work. I am out 1500.00 dollars in maintenance costs. The add will read 2006 Honda Civic LX, whale Tale, Aluminum Wheels and New Tires. In shop more than it is been in my care.
