Honda 2007 Odyssey Transmission replaced
by scswanberg on Thu Nov 13 12:04:38 PST 2008
Our 2007 Hoda Odyssey (one year old) has had lousy gas mileage since day one. Dealer kept obfuscating about 'break in' and 'your mileage may vary' (12-15 MPG?). Lately developed occassionally what sounded like a gas knock on steroids (nearly a growl). Went to dealer (Memphis TN) ... conclusion is they are replacing the entire transmission. This is just FYI to folks reading this forum. Warranty replacement of the entire transmission after one year for a 2007 Honda Odyssey.
Anyone else had a bad experience at Lexus of Memphis?
by ekdal on Wed Nov 12 16:29:04 PST 2008
I know it sounds odd considering the times, but I just had an awful experience with Lexus of Memphis. There's an 08 I'm interested in but I'm a little concerned about how rudely and crassly I was treated by one particular salesmen. I'm assuming it's just one bad apple. So If others have bought cars from here and had a good experience with a salesperson I'd be grateful if you could email me there name so I can go through someone else. Thanks.

Not sure about ATL, but there is a full page ad in the Memphis paper today, "GMC - Financing That Fits". Enclave is only one of the 3 listed there, $2500 Cash Back - 2008 model. Tahoe LTZ $6000 cash back. Escalade $7000 cash back. Well, went to the GMC.COM page and Acadia has the same $2500 cash back. I went and searched inventory and did NOT find the selling price displayed as when I bought an Outlook under the Employee Pricing, $1500 rebate in August. So, this offer looks to be 0% or $2500 rebate, but without the EP already calculated.

When you pull it down into the first position and use the buttons to shift up or down, the current gear is show to the right of the normal P R N D L indicator, IIRC. I have used it a few times but normally just use D. I did find that on my 20 mile route to the golf course that if I control the speed instead of using cruise control I can up my MPG by about 2. Driving with the average MPG display I can really see the difference in gaining a little speed downhill and letting it bleed off uphill, vs the cruise having to maintain the constant speed especially uphill. Recently took a 1300+ mile trip from Memphis to Gulf Coast and back. Reset MPG display leaving Memphis on 78 toward Birmingham. Disappointed in averaging less than 20 mpg on that hilly leg (using cruise). Not really bad for the complete hwy portion of the trip getting right around 21 MPG for the 1200 miles or so. I now think I could up that to around 23 MPG or more by keeping it from downshifting as much uphill and gaining speed for the next hill while going down. BUT that would defeat the ease of cruising with cruise, so I doubt I would do that for a complete trip. Love the 2008 Outlook XR so far :-) Bill

The late Bill Heard Chevy dealership in SE Memphis used to send me the promotions. Go in and get 10 $1 coins. I would take them up on it when I was going down that way to play golf with my brother in law. Otherwise I would not burn $7 worth of gas and 1 hour time just to get $10. Come out a little better on the $$$ but way behind on the time factor. I never expected to win one of the larger prizes, but if it did happen I would not be disappointed. I don't guess any of will be getting any of these from old Bill in the future.

I have gotten used to 60-65 but this was a longer drive (although not the thousand miles a day I used to log). The 28 mixed was more highway than around town by far. Still I'm happy with the highway mileage.
