Re: Kia Rio MPG... [mnourse1]
by rioowner on Tue Jul 15 07:23:36 PDT 2008
Excuse me, but that is not entirely correct. I ran to Gatlinburg at 62 mph and got worse mileage than coming back at 72 mph. Yeah, I paid attention because I had about 4k on the new 08' Rio. I now consistantly get over 38 mpg, and mainly because I don't let the fuel get below 3/4 tank. You need gas. Whether you fill up at 1/4 tank, empty, or 3/4 tank, you will need gasoline in your tank. If I am getting better mileage filling up more often, then why wouldn't I stop more often? I have time, if I am getting six to eight more miles to the gallon, and I am. I ran the tank down and only got a high of 34.6 mpg. Now, I fill up more often and get steadily over 38 or so mpg. Try it. You'll like it. Mikey does.
Going on family vacation, Tennessee Dollywood
by cat21 on Sun Jun 22 13:17:20 PDT 2008
My family and I will be going to Tennessee this summer. We'll be leaving June 27th and returning on the 4th. We will be staying in a nice three story cabin and enjoying Dollywood theme Park, mostly the water park. I guess we'll see Gatlinburg and let the kids see the water falls. Hopefully there will be a fireworks show at Dollywood before we leave. This is why the vsc had to work properly!
Re: Chattanooga, TN Gas Price - Update [jac0bsdad]

I spent 3 months in Johnson City, TN back in 1971. I went to a North Electric training school at Gray Station. Lived in a Condo on Boone Lake. I put 13,000 miles on my rental car exploring the area from Asheville to Gatlinburg and back. Many fond memories of the area. I cannot remember what kind of mileage that Vega Wagon got for me. I was on expenses.

Are you in the Midwest part of the USA? The city on the graph that indicated Knoxville, is that Tenn or Iowa? I have a frat brother in Nashville and he is in the commercial construction business, but I don't get too much of a chance to talk with him since we are both so busy with jobs, kids, etc.. Overall, Nashville is a lot more expensive to live in than Chattanooga... I think that is a travesty about raising your fuel costs on Thurs afternoons!! That seems criminal to me.. A friend of mine at work went to Cades Cove last week with her husband and she told me gas was going for $3.90/Gal in Gatlinburg, TN.. That is the highest I know of in TN..

Sedona was very nice... Slide Rock State Park is very scenic. Wear your swimsuit. It is imperative that you get out of the town and into the red rock area. We took a guided Jeep tour, which was pretty cool, but pricy. The Uptown area of Sedona will remind you a little of Gatlinburg, though slightly less tacky. A good Mexican restaurant in Tlaquepaque (sp?) shopping center, just south of Uptown.. was a good place for dinner. If you come in from the south, be sure to drive north of town, towards Flagstaff for 10-15 miles, then turn back and come into town from the north. The scenery on that drive is fantastic, driving down into the Oak Creek Canyon. Good luck! kyfdx

Well, it is my parents' dream to retire to the gulf coast, so they bought one when they could afford to (before the prices inflated to double what they were when they bought it). In Birmingham, a vacation, other than going to the lake/river, is always at least 3 hours away. The bright side, is that Mountains are 350 miles (Gatlinburg, TN) and the beach is 290 miles (Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, AL), so you are between two very different locales.
