Sorry for the double post. Not sure where to post the question. I've been looking for a used RAV4. I got them down to $21750 including doc fee (he says required in our state by law) but not taxes or registration. He listed it at $23750. It's the 2007 RAV4 Limited fully tricked out with only 14,190 miles on it. Trying to decide on this or a 2009 or 2008 v6 limited one - someone said they got theirs down to $26570 or something. Keep in mind the features below are standard but also include the extras (like bluetooth that comes with the JBL speakers). It also has a clean carfax and autocheck record. Doesn't have NAVI is about it. He even said it has towing package parts. THere's no major cosmetic defects or rust either. Here's this deal: Exterior Aerodynamic multi-reflector halogen headlamps w/auto-off Black roof rails w/cross bars Chrome grille Color-keyed bumpers Color-keyed door handles Color-keyed hard shell spare tire cover Color-keyed heated foldable pwr mirrors Color-keyed rear spoiler w/stop lamp FOG LIGHTS High Solar Energy-Absorbing glass Intermittent rear wiper LED rear lamps Rear privacy glass Side-opening rear door w/hold-open feature Washer-linked variable intermittent windshield wipers Interior (10) cup/bottle holders (3) 12V auxiliary pwr outlets 60/40 split fabric-trimmed rear bench w/slide/recline function, 1-touch fold-flat lever, height-adjustable headrest, center armrest AM/FM stereo w/6-disc in-dash CD changer-inc: MP3/WMA capability, aux input jack, (6) speakers Amber-illuminated Optitron instrument cluster-inc: speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, LCD odometer w/(2) tripmeters Cargo area storage pockets in wheel housing w/(2) cupholders Cruise control w/brake deceleration feature Digital clock Direct tire pressure monitor system Door panel storage pockets, bottle holders Dual glove boxes w/upper box one-push open/close Dual visor vanity mirrors w/sliding extensions, roof-mounted vanity light Dual-zone automatic air conditioning w/air filtration, information display, micro dust/pollen removal capability Engine Immobilizer Fabric-trimmed 8-way pwr driver/4-way manual passenger seats-inc: pwr driver lumbar support, height adjustment, seatback pockets Fender-mounted mast antenna Illuminated entry-inc: key illumination, interior light, front map light Interior footwell lighting Leather-wrapped shift knob w/metallic insert, gated shifter Leather-wrapped tilt/telescoping steering wheel w/audio controls Multi-function center console-inc: (2) illuminated cupholders, storage box, cell phone storage pocket Outside temp gauge Pwr door locks Pwr windows w/driver-side auto up/down & jam protection Rear deck storage-inc: water-repellant foldable deck board Rear window defogger w/timer Remote hood/fuel filler door releases Remote keyless entry Tonneau cover w/cargo net Mechanical 17" x 7.0 6-spoke aluminum wheels 3.5L DOHC SFI 24-valve dual VVT-i V6 engine 5-speed ECT automatic transmission Anti-lock brake system (ABS) w/brake assist Double-wishbone rear suspension w/coil springs Downhill assist control (DAC) Electric pwr rack & pinion steering Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) Front/rear stabilizer bars Full-size spare tire Hill start assist control (HAC) Independent Macpherson strut front suspension On-demand 4-wheel drive P225/65R17 all-season tires Pwr vented front/rear solid disc brakes Traction control (TRAC) Vehicle stability control (VSC) Safety 3-point seat belts for all seating positions w/adjustable front seatbelt anchors Anti-lock brake system (ABS) w/brake assist Child protector rear door locks Child restraint system (ISOFIX CRS) top tether anchors for all rear seating positions Collapsible steering column Driver/front passenger advanced airbag system Driver/front passenger front seat-mounted side airbags Drivers emergency locking retractor (ELR) seatbelt Front & 2nd row roll-sensing side curtain airbags Front crumple zone Passengers automatic locking retractor (ALR) & emergency locking retractor (ELR) seatbelts Side impact door beams Traction control (TRAC) Vehicle stability control (VSC) Brakes Brake ABS System: 4-Wheel Brake Type: Pwr Disc - Thinking about buying a base XL regular bed(6'?) V6 5-speed air conditioning. MSRP will be something between $19,000 and $20,000. What are the lowest of low prices going on these? Thanks in advance. Craig

Saw that in the "build one" part, guess it only comes with a primer coat, as you can't tell "it" what color you want. Oh well, give them some time.... I like the new tv ads though. "We'll do whatever it takes to...." We'll see about that sometime in late December, (I forecast).... Think they are missing the boat now on clearing out the '08's, by not offering reduced financing rates ALONG WITH the $5,000.00 or so price cut. As to getting more new '09's in, I just talked to a volume dealer some distance away who said [they] wouldn't bring more of them in until they'd sold off their '08's. I can understand that on one level, but If that held true here, we might not see any more '09's till spring! Step up to the plate Suzuki by combining price and financing deals. Near the end of it's model run now, a base '09, (ya, that's AN '09), Mazda 3 sport is now selling for thousands less before the spring debut of the new '10, AND you get a good financing rate too. Wake up little Suzy, wake up little Suzy... Recently tested the base '09 Forester. EXCELLENT car like cornering feel thanks to that low center of mass. However: 5 speed manual too "rubbery" lacking the much tough(er) feel of a Suzuki '08 manual. Unfortunate dash treatment, and the grey interior is very dull, but the black is nice. NOTE: the engine is noise(ier) than the new '09 four cylinder GV, but it's know for that, for whatever that's worth? Not broken in, it ran out of breath on a freeway hill in 5th, but the auto four cylinder GV did not on the same hill! Clearly the auto box would be the trannie to go with in this much more car like Sube. Tough(er) though it is for '09, you can feel it wouldn't stand up as well to the same sort of demanding recreational usage which Suzuki's can. The "expedition class" winner?, no surprise, it's advantage Suzuki. Still need to find a base '09 JA GV [somewhere] to test. Yes, even drove a used auto '02 XL-7. That 2.7 engine does wear well, which also is no surprise to me as all Suzuki engines seem to. Haven't ruled it out as a stop gap move. But may default to the old principal that 4:30pm on the last business day in December, is THE best time/day of the year to buy a car.... Still no new '09 owners out there?
Re: 4 cyl or 6 cyl [backy]

I'm surprized to see these reports of teh 4 cyl Sonata being under powered. My '05 Sonata GLS SV is a V6, rated at 170 HP. The new 4 cyl is rated 175 HP. I've always been light on the gas, more so in the last year. I do practicaly no highway driving, drive under 3 miles to work with hills (we're talking elevation changes of 200 ft), 2 stop signs ( I actually stop) and 4 traffic lights. My '05 is rated 19/27. Year round I average about 19 mpg for local driving. Better in the spring & fall when the auto A/C doesn't kick on and a bit worse in summer with the A/C and worse when the temps drop below 50 and even worse when the temps are in the teens. Yet, year round, I average right about 19 mpg. If I drive 60 highway miles during a tank of gas, the mpg improvement is 1 to 2 mpg. With my type of driving (short haul), I can't complain about about the MPG.
Re: update since the repair [catmando1]

I didn't realize the problem is still ongoing. It's not the coolant sensor. I'd bet on that. I bought extra one to put in my car because the suspicious one was impossible to measure when in the car. It was not expensive part. In the '01/'02 Saturn, the sensor you see under the top water hose at the block IS the coolant sensor AS WELL AS the sensor for feeding the temperature gauge. If the temperature gauge reads normally, don't bother with the coolant sensor. Running rich is a good clue moving on the problem. Are all the plugs same looking? I think 1-3 and 2-4 are paired on sparks. If all plugs look foul, then I would suspect over rich, vs. no-fire or misfire due to one coil pack going bad messing up the affected cylinders only. OK on highway and climbing issues... how's the hot idle? That could give it away too. Fact is, if idle is good, but highway and high demand conditions (hill climbing) are bad (i.e. higher performance conditions only), you may have insufficient fuel flow rather than spark problem. If it leans out and misburns, you will also get fouling, not due to over-rich mix, but rather unburnable mix. In sufficient fuel flow as in clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump is what I'm saying. If a vacuum leak, it'll show up at idle. Vacuum problem not much of an issue when you open the throttle and bleed down the vacuum anyway, making leaks less important. I think you have some clues now to give it a whirl. As a quick painless test, don't overlook the simple PCV valve. It is reverse spring loaded to prevent flow during idle as PCV will mess up your idle, but it is to open at low vacuum conditions. If you have missing dipstick or other potential leaks, that could affect your open-throttle air mix. A simple test is to plug up the PCV connection and preclude any PCV action just to discard this possible problem.
